Random Poem – Storm #BikerBoys

Lana could have written this when Ty broke up with her.

Storm

Think of me when thunder bursts through dark skies.

Only then will you know the tears I’ve cried.

Remember me when lightning brightens your path,

It’s a gift both precious and stark.

You didn’t understand my pain

And took my feelings in vain.

You held my heart in your hands

And crushed it so hard it bears your brand.

I seek my solace in the storm.

Not many think it’s the norm

But who can tell my tears from the rain?

Who can tell if it’s the cold or pain?

Maybe one day we’ll meet.

You may not see me,

I may not recognise you.

I hope by then the storm ceases to rage

And understanding dawns with age.

Maybe then I’ll understand if this was my protection,

Or perhaps your ultimate redemption.

Whatever the reason, I pray for peace,

And blessings so deep, they’re a permanent lease.

Saturday Excerpt

Fine, I guess.”

“What do you mean you guess? Why dont you call her up and ask her how she is?” Crew says.

“Maybe I will.” I glance at Connor. The conversation between him and the red heads getting hectic. Shes laughing at something he said. I get up suddenly struck by a sudden need to embarrass Connor.

“Where are you going?” Hayden asks.

“Watch me.” I head over to the girl who managed to captivate Connor after his self-imposed thirteen months of celibacy.

“Hi,” I greet when the girl notices Im standing behind Connor.

“Hi.” She smiles.

“I was wondering if I could move our tables together.”

Connor realizes its me when he hears my voice. He glances at me, mortified at my suggestion.

“Ty?” he says surprised before swearing me under his breath.

“Ty?” a second, softer voice repeats.

I turn towards Bree’s friend for the first time. “Lana?”

My world pauses when she smiles at me. I forget about embarrassing Connor.

“Hi.” She waves slightly. Her cheeks redden.

“Hi.” Why can’t I come up with anything to say whenever I’m around Lana?

Confusion clouds the redheads face. “You two know each other?”

Lana smiles shyly. “Yeah. Ty, meet my best friend, Bree. Bree, Ty.”

“Would you mind if I pulled our tables together?” I ask Lana since Connor still hasnt replied to me.

“Not at all,” she replies. Her eyes sparkle.

Holy dessert on crap sticks. I barely know her but Ive missed her. The guys help me pull the tables together without breaking or spilling anything. I pull my chair closer to Lanas. Our hands touch briefly and once again shadowy images of Lana being pulled against her will from me flashes in my head. I cant tell whos pulling her away neither do I know the reason shes being taken away. The only thing Im sure off is that Im the one shes being yanked away from.

Connor and Bree carry on talking and dont pay much attention to whats going on around them. Hayden and Crew resume eating. Lana glances at me. My chest does a series of crazy flip flops. Ive never been so badly affected by a girl before. I’m still speechless.

Her mouth is bow shaped. She isnt wearing any lip color. My hormones shoot to my brain when she licks a tiny seed off her lips. I imagine crushing her lips against mine and wonder how soft her lips are and how warm the inside of her mouth is. She glances at me in that instant. A warm heat creeps up my cheeks.

Thank God, Lana cant read minds.

So what if she could? A tiny voice in my head questions, I know you want her to see what youve been doing to her in your dreams.

Dream, I correct myself, I only dreamt of her once.

Snippet from my Sexy Super Hero Biker Series

She shakes her head without making eye contact. “No.”

Somethings wrong. The girl sitting next to me has turned into the exact opposite of the chick I nearly made love to.

“Then?”

She shakes her head. “Its been a long day. I really should get some rest.”

“Okay.” I adjust my seat and turn the key in the ignition.

“Do you regret it?” Her gentle voice catches me off guard.

I leave the gear in neutral and turn to face her. “Not one bit,” I tell her hoarsely.

She smiles. “I’m a little scared,” she admits eventually.

“Of me?”

She shakes her head. “No.”

“Then?” I prompt.

She looks away. “Sex,” she whispers.

“Which part?” I ask.

She shakes her head. “I’m not sure. Maybe all of it.”

I place my hand over hers. “It isnt scary if it’s with someone you love.”

“I’m sorry,” she whispers.

“Why?”

“Ruining our moment.”

Her soft voice tugs at my heart. “You havent ruined anything at all.”

I caress her lips and wish I could kiss her again. My hand brushes hers when I shift the truck into gear and Im haunted by another image of Lana being forcefully taken away from me. I move my hand away quickly. I need to get some sleep. I’m probably exhausted and hallucinating as a result. That must be it.

“Id love to do this every night,” I tell her.

“Get drenched on the promenade?” she asks

“If it means snuggling up next to you afterwards then hell yeah.”

She laughs. “You make me feel like the sexiest woman on earth.”

I’m glad she’s forgotten about her earlier apprehension. “You are the sexiest woman I’ve ever met.”

“That’s because you bring out the best in me.”

Slowly the part of me that Cora destroyed after betraying my family is sprouting back to life.

“And youre the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Random Poem

This could be about one of my characters…

Do you see that girl with the big brown eyes,

The one with the radiant smile?

Do you notice her walk

Or would you rather hear her talk?

What is it about her that makes you stare?

What is it about her that makes you care?

Do you see that girl with the big brown eyes?

The one who’s tired of listening to lies?

Don’t you wonder why she no longer smiles?

Have you ever wondered who she really is?

And what it would be like to see her laugh?

Did you notice her tears

When she turned your way?

Maybe not, ‘cos she blinked them away.

Do you see the girl with the big, brown eyes?

The one you promised you’d never hurt?

Do you remember her voice?

Do you recall her hope?

You ended it all with one quick choice

And didn’t once think how she’d feel?

Do you see the girl with the big, brown eyes,

The one who forces a smile

While deep down she wonders why.

Pssst…Here’s a sneak peek into the Witness Protection Program

Hi everyone,

The fabulous Carolyn LaRoche is here today to tell us about her brand new release from http://www.breathlesspress.com

So what is the book about?

From Witness Protection:

Someone wants NYPD detective Angelina Ferrara deadagain. Following her heart instead of her mind landed her in Witness Protection. Can she trust it and handsome detective Logan James to keep her alive this time?

As far as the world knows, NYPD detective Angelina Ferrara died in a violent firefight on Chelsea piers over a year ago. Living in the witness protection program as history teacher Lucy Taylor was supposed to save her life but being alive and living were two very different things. Until she meets detective Logan James when he goes undercover in the same private school where she works. Something about the handsome man with the gorgeous blue eyes piques her interest. Theres no doubt he has secrets but then so does she. When the Ricci crime family discovers shes still alive, can she trust the same heart that landed her in the witness protection program in the first place to let Logan to help her survive it?

Sounds amazing. Let’s have a look at the excerpt.

Her little car had an engine about as powerful as a hamster wheel. There was no way she was going to outrun the truck that was accelerating with lightning speed. On one side of her was a deep ravine, the other the steep slope of a mountain towered high and tree covered. The steering wheel shook violently as she pushed her little car to its limits, sheer adrenaline keeping her focused on the winding road. As she rounded a sharp curve, the back tires spun and fishtailed out from behind her. The tiny car shook violently as Lucy struggled to maintain control. The SUV caught up with her then, ramming into her rear bumper. The car groaned but held on. Lucy spun the wheel to make the next sharp curve, all the while her eyes searched for a way off the dangerous mountain highway. Another crash from behind jolted her car forward with such force Lucy lost her grip on the steering wheel. The car veered right but she managed to straighten it out before hitting the tree line.

“What the hell do you want with me?” she screamed at the truck in her rearview mirror.

The driver responded by slamming into the back of her car again. Metal ground against metal, gravel flew everywhere, and the car careened toward a thick bank of trees to her left. Straightening the car once more, Lucy crushed the gas pedal to the floor and watched as the speedometer climbed quickly. Lucy felt the little rush of excitement she always got in a good pursuit despite the fact that she was the one being pursued.

She whipped around yet another curve, and the SUV caught up with her. Just as she managed to get her little car under control again, the SUV crashed into her back end again with such force Lucy thought her car might shatter there in the middle of the road. The little car veered to the right, aiming straight for the side of the road and the ravine beyond. Lucy tried to regain control but the effort was in vain. She braced herself as the car plowed through thick vegetation, hit something, and started to slide down the steep embankment.

She heard the growl of the SUV’s engine roaring away over the revving of her own engine as the tiny car crashed through the underbrush. The car flew over a log and landed on the slick vegetation covering the incline. The car lost its hold on the ground and rolled its way down the slope, finally landing up against the trunk of a large pine tree where the engine died. Lucy’s head smacked against the steering wheel knocking her near to senseless. Everything fell deathly silent as she fought to remain conscious.

A loud crack broke the silence. As she watched through the broken windshield, the tree in front of her began to wobble. Blood trailed from her forehead into her left eye blurring her already shaky vision. Rubbing at it with the back of her arm, she used her other hand to desperately claw at the seat belt release.

If she didn’t get out of the car, the tree was going to fall right on top of her.

The giant pine swayed once and then began its descent toward Lucy and her crumpled car. Yanking hard at the jammed seat belt, her head swimming and her stomach churning, Lucy finally freed herself. Just as the tree crushed the roof of her car, like it were nothing more than a tin can, Lucy pulled her body through the opening that used to be the driver’s side window.

Guest Post, Author Shelli Rosewarne

Hi there, and thanks loads for having me over today!

I’m really excited to be able to talk about my new release, Scarlett Legacy, which is a paranormal romance inspired by the fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood. I’ve always loved fairytales, myths and legends and it was so much fun to be able to put my own twist and interpretation on a classic story.

I’m hoping people will enjoy it as much as I did, and look at the Big Bad Wolf in a whole different light J Anyway, let’s see if I can tempt you with a wee excerpt…

Damian’s jaw clenched as he watched her amble through the woods, seemingly lost in her own world and paying no attention to any possible dangers. He lifted his head, breathing in deeply to take in her scent on the drifting breeze. While he’d been expecting a reaction it still hit him like a sucker punch in his gut. His stomach clenched and his body hardened.

His inner beast was already raging at him. The burning need to mark her, to possess her, rising up within like a force of nature but he grit his teeth and forced it down. He was not some undisciplined pup unable to control himself. Years of leading his people had driven into him patience and control above all else.

Instead, he forced himself to stay hidden for now, easily keeping pace with her. She was exactly as he’d always imagined—dark curls flowed down her back and framed delicate features, high cheekbones, and huge dark eyes with thick lashes. Everything about her drew him in, but he’d waited too long to rush things now.

When he’d first sensed her, that indescribable pull that couldn’t be anything else, he’d thought he was going crazy. He’d given up hope long ago, and yet there she was, walking through his woods as though she’d always been meant to be there.

He watched as she paused, looking around her with confusion on her face. She turned in a slow circle, her brow furrowed, and her teeth biting into her lush bottom lip. She was lost, he realized. Well, that was just perfect. His teeth bared in a wicked smile, he could go and “rescue” her. She would think he was Prince Charming when actually he was the big bad wolf.

Okay, so maybe he’s not perfect… but he is pretty yummy and definitely interested in more than dressing up as Granny (well, unless there’s something he’s not telling me!). You can find out more below, and please feel free to follow me on social media. Thanks x
