Once upon a time....

Picture "Do you remember the wonderful bedtime stories from your childhood? Do you have a favorite—or were you like me, and all of them were your favorites? Did your mother or father read you the story? Did you see them in the theater? Listen to them on the phonograph? Perhaps you watched them on video, DVD, or downloaded them directly from the Net. It doesn’t really matter how you heard or watched the story, it’s more important that they were meaningful to you in some important way. A piece of nostalgia comes with each bedtime story. And, there’s something wonderfully comforting about the words “Once Upon a Time.”

What does a gay man wear to jail?" An excerpt of "A Fag for Her Fifties, Chapter 1.

The Road Home

Picture The following passage is from my book, "Dirty Windows", which AnyWho Editions is working to release within the upcoming year.
I had the opportunity to get away this past weekend, or as I sometimes refer to it - to escape. Sometimes, the most interesting and inspirational thing about escaping, is the anticipation of coming home again.
Home.
A single word with infinite possibilities...

Eventually, they toned down their voices and I slipped back into the pages of "Dirty Windows". Burns’ book and characters were stark enough to pull me into
their lives, their wants and desires.  I was on chapter four.  Peculiar that I remember how the chapter started.  The lead character faced a crossroads in his journey. He stood at a fork in the road. He had to choose which path would lead him home.  Signs along each road offered advice: one sign indicated the path lead to humility, the second pride.  The desperate young boy on the side of the road had to choose.  I thought  it was a spellbinding choice.  Pride or humility…”

A Little bit of Chaos

Picture "We need a bit of chaos in our lives from time to time. It is the only way some people can find purpose.  If not by choice, then by accident. It forces us to consider what we have done, and what we should be doing.  Sometimes it is the only way men can change—to be confronted by strife, forced to resolve it." from Nadka Desmaines (a character in "The Lonely Farmer" - watch for it coming soon from AnyWho Editions.
