Garret’s Deep Thoughts

Forever YouShort teaser from Forever You!

———————————–

“We have a story?”

“That’s what life is, Jade. It’s just a bunch of memories that come together to form a story.”

“Did you just come up with that?”

“Yeah, why?”

“That was deep.” I pretend to be serious. “Very insightful.”

“It was, wasn’t it? I could put that on a greeting card. Or coffee mugs. Magnets. Damn, I could start a whole business. My rambling thoughts could end up making me millions.”

I laugh. “You work on that later. For now, let’s go find you a sundae.”

Forever You Teaser – Garret’s Box

Forever YouAnother scene from Forever You. This scene takes place when Jade and Garret are back in Connecticut for the Fourth of July weekend.

———————————————————

We drive into the small town that’s a few miles from campus and pass the coffee shop that Harper always went to. Next to it is the Thai place where Garret and I used to get takeout all the time. And across from that is the place where we used to go for pizza.

Garret points to the bright red train car sitting off to the right. “You want to go to the diner this weekend? Get a Boxcar Sundae?”

“Yeah, that would be fun. And maybe we could go to that Mexican place by your house. I want to see if that horrible mariachi singer is still there.”

“You still want him to sing at our wedding? We could fly him out there for it. We’ll fly out the whole band.”

I laugh just thinking about that guy singing. “No, that’s okay.”

“You sure? I still have the business card he gave me.”

“You do? Why did you keep it?”

“I thought you might want it someday. That was our first official date. I kept our bowling scoresheet, too, even though I’d rather not look at it again, given how bad you beat my ass.”

“I totally beat your ass.” I smile. “I can’t believe you kept that stuff. Did you keep other stuff from our dates?”

“Yeah, I got a whole box of stuff. Movie ticket stubs, pens from the hotels we stayed at, takeout menus from our favorite places. I can’t remember everything that’s in there.”

“Seriously? Why didn’t you tell me this?”

“I was waiting until it would mean something to you. Last fall you would’ve said it was just junk, but I knew after I softened you up you’d want it.” His cocky grin appears.

“You didn’t soften me up.”

“Oh really? Okay, then I guess when we get home, I’ll just toss all that shit in the trash.”

“No!” I almost yell it, then feel my cheeks heat up. “I mean, you might as well keep it now that you went to all that work to save it.”

He shrugs. “It wasn’t work. I just tossed it in a box. But you’re right, we don’t need to keep it.”

“Okay, you’ve proved your point. You’ve softened me up. Are you happy now? I want everything in your stupid box.”

He laughs and so do I.

Big News!! More Jade and Garret

I’ve gone back and forth on this a million times but I’ve finally come to a decision. And that decision is…I’m writing at least one more book after Forever You. Yes, that’s right,  ANOTHER BOOK!! or MORE!

I read your comments after Promising You came out and found that many of you really want to know more about Jade and Garret and where life takes them after the summer. In addition, some of you want to know about the mysterious organization and some of you want to know about the side characters. So there is plenty more story to tell!

Another thing that led me to this decision was writing Forever You. Writing it spurred a whole bunch of new ideas for this story that I felt I had to get down. After finishing Forever You, I wrote a sample scene of Jade and Garret at their new college and it just felt right. That’s when I knew for sure I wanted to continue on.

I want to show Jade and Garret together in their new life and I’m not yet ready to skip ahead into the future. I want to continue on where the summer book ends and show Jade and Garret at their new college, interacting with new people, adjusting to life as a married couple, and facing with new challenges. I have lots of ideas for where this next book could go and because of that, it’s possible there could be MORE than one book after Forever You. I won’t know until I write it.

For those of you who ONLY want the summer book, I’ll tell you now that Forever You does NOT end on any kind of a cliffhanger. So if you want, you can say farewell to Jade and Garret after Forever You and be done with the series.

For those of you wanting MORE Jade and Garret, you can look forward to another book (or maybe more!).

Forever You Teaser: Grocery Shopping

Forever YouTeaser Time! Jade and Garret go grocery shopping.

__________________________________

We start in the produce section and Garret places a bag of oranges in our cart along with some bananas. Then he picks out some apples.

“Okay, Garret. I think we have plenty of fruit.”

He sets the apples in the cart, kissing my cheek. “You need to eat better.”

“I know. You tell me that every day. But I can’t eat all that fruit. It’s too much.”

“It’s not too much.” He gets behind me and pushes the cart forward, pushing me along with it. “You’re supposed to eat four or five pieces of fruit a day.”

“Are you serious?” I watch as he takes a plastic produce bag from the dispenser. “Who the hell eats that much fruit?”

“I do.” He shakes the plastic bag open and fills it with green grapes. “I eat fruit at least five times a day.”

“You do?” I stare at him. “How do I not know this?”

“Because you don’t pay attention. I always have it at breakfast and in the afternoon for a snack and usually after dinner.”

“Huh.” Now that I think of it, he does eat fruit at almost every meal.

He drops a bag of lettuce in the cart, then picks up two avocados.

I sigh. “Not the green vegetables.”

“Technically, an avocado is a fruit,” he says as he hands them to me.

“It’s still green.”

He laughs. “I swear. You’re worse than a little kid. I’m going to make you eat better whether you like it or not.” He comes around the cart and kisses me. “I want you around for a very long time.”

I hug him, not even caring that we’re in the grocery store with people watching. “I appreciate your efforts, but I’m still getting pudding cups. And potato chips. And chocolate cereal. And those donuts with the—”

“Jade?” He pulls back, smiling.

I smile back. “Okay, I’ll skip the donuts.”
