The Singing Hills Cycle 1 & 2
In the last week I read The Empress of Salt and Fortune and When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain in audio, and I adored these two story-within-a-story novellas about a nonbinary cleric who records all sorts of tales and history.
The books are described as lush and mesmerizing, having “the heart of an Atwood tale and the visuals of a classic Asian period drama”. Both of them focus on empires and the art of storytelling itself, as well as the anger and love of women.
