Author Spotlight: Wolf Golan

My wife is on a listserv and saw an email about an Indigenous sci-fi series and knew I needed to know every detail. It also very much amused me that the author had a similar name to my wife.

Wolf Golan (a.k.a Matt Gilbert) is Gwich’in Athabascan. You know how I feel about Indigenous books, if you don’t it is simple: WE NEED MORE. Indigenous voices are so important and have been silenced for hundreds of years now. You need to check out Wolf Golan’s stuff though. That is where the sci-fi is.

Illuminae

What a mess.
Don’t get me wrong, this was highly entertaining, but it was also all over the place.
Basically high-stakes, high-energy Sci-Fi teen drama with about any plot point stuffed in there you can possibly think of, told in a very sassy, easy-to-read way, and packaged in an inventive format.

The format is what’s most obvious about the book: it’s told as a collection of various files detailing the consequences of a big incident. There’s reports, transcripts, interviews, EMails, Direct M...

Dario is live!

A while back, I got to start my reading of all of Samuel Alexander‘s books. He has a lovely series about a group of friends, but it all started with Dario. The series was wonderful, it was unique, and now it is available as audio!

Dario (the audiobook) is free right now on Kobo. I believe it is free through October 20th.

I am super picky about my audiobooks. The narrator has to be JUST right, or I won’t be able to make it through. This narrator does amazing voices and has such a clear ...
