DANGEROUSLY HERS by A.M. Griffin

by A.M. GriffinGenre: Sci-Fi Romance

Jess hates aliens. After the invasion that destroyed Earth, the extraterrestrial bastards sold her to a brothel as a sex slave. She may have escaped but the old memories and fears still linger in the dark corners of her mind. Supposedly Sonis is just the place for her—somewhere safe, where she can heal and start fresh. She’s almost hopeful…until she meets Rasha, her new boss.
Rasha, Captain of the Sonis Royal Guard, is a warrior through and through. He’s huge, sinfully sexy and could have any woman on Sonis—but the woman he wants is Jess. He’s very much an alien and Jess knows she should hate him or at least be wary, but whenever he’s around, she loses control. She tells herself it’s only sex—amazing, mind-blowing sex like nothing else she’s ever experienced—but there’s something about Rasha that shakes her soul. The feel of his skin against hers, the look in his eyes as he touches her—they make her want to believe it’s possible to find love and begin again.

The guards turned their way and pointed. There was no mistaking it this time. The guards were coming for them and didn't appear too happy about it either. Jess tensed, locked her jaw and balled her fists. JB moved to her side, partially blocking her view.
The group of three overly large males stopped in front of them. "JB and Jess?" The bass tones of the speaker's voice resonated in her chest.
JB hooked his thumbs in his pants. "Depends on who's asking."
The guards exchanged surprised glances and the speaker widened his stance. "Rasha, Captain of the Sonis Royal Guard." He folded his thick arms across his chest and stared down at JB.
The way he stood, his movements, his speech, all spoke of leadership. He was big, bigger than the others. His muscles bulged and glistened. All the hours he must have spent perfecting that body... A moan escaped her lips.
Shit. Did I just moan out loud? Her heart skipped a beat as eyes of pure amber locked on hers.
"It is you."
A nerve ticked in her jaw. She squinted. I don't remember him from the brothel. "Asshole," she said under her breath. He was probably one of them just the same.
"Do you have something to say?" the giant asked.
Of course she had something to say. She cocked her head to the side. "Lay off the free weights, Gigantor." JB nudged her but she couldn't stop there. "Or stop the prison-themed workouts."
Why couldn't she stop? Insults spilled from her mouth at will, especially when she felt threatened, which was now.
Before the giant could respond, JB interjected. "Please excuse my ward. What can we do for you?"
Jess snorted at JB's use of the word "ward". As if he actually had some control over her actions. Hell, she couldn't even control them.
The giant continued to watch her as he said, "I was sent to retrieve you both from the transport bay."
"Oh." JB ran a hand through his hair. "Sorry about that. Eva didn't meet us there so we tried to make our own way."
The giant broke eye contact with her and studied JB. "I am sure Eva gave you clear instructions to wait."
As if we're in the habit of following directions.
Jess rolled her eyes. "Pft."
The giant glared at her again. "Female, if I want to hear you talk I will ask you a question."
She straightened her back. Well now, this might get interesting.
JB grabbed her arm, tightening his grip. "Jess, cool it before you get us jumped," he warned.
Yeah, she would cool it all right. It wasn't her fault Gigantor hadn't met them sooner.
The giant nodded in her direction. "I advise you to keep your female in her place," he said, addressing JB.
Really. "Keep me in place?" Jess side stepped around JB. "What makes you think he can?" She thumbed toward JB. "Or that I'm even his to keep in place?"
"I swear your mouth is going to get us killed one day." JB moved in front of her and pressed his back against her chest. "Jess, I can maybe survive a fight with one, but not three," he whispered over his shoulder.
She should have been afraid. If she were a rational woman she would have cowered behind JB.
But she wasn't.

After aliens invade and conquer Earth, Eva is transported to a distant slave-trading planet. Freedom and escape are her only priorities, but none of her martial arts training could have prepared her for enslavement to the warrior King Taio. Eva finds herself drawn to this sexy alien male who ignites her heart and body.
Taio is disgusted with the idea of owning a slave—until now. From the moment he sees her, he knows Eva is his for the taking. Torn between lust and duty, Taio discovers nothing will stop him from protecting his little warrior.

Kane Epps divides his life into two distinct parts—before the alien invasion and after. Before the invasion, he had a pregnant wife and a high-powered job. After the invasion, he’s left with only himself and his hatred for all things alien. He channels his bitterness by captaining a vessel of renegade humans—space pirates who don’t think twice about taking what they need.
Princess Sa’Mya is on the run. She and a few trusted advisers fled her home planet only to be captured by the sexy, dangerous Captain Epps. He claims to hate aliens but can’t seem to resist touching her or kissing her…everywhere. As Kane introduces Sa’Mya to ever-increasing, unimaginable realms of pleasure, the princess becomes determined to earn his trust. She’s used to getting what she wants. And this time, what she wants is Kane Epps.

Excerpt
He made me come all over his tongue in that dream, his fingers relentless inside me.
It’s all I can think about as he paces in front of me, his tall, muscular body lovingly encased in that charcoal suit.
He’s talking about some event he’s going to tonight on behalf of the company; that much I know. His raspy, deep voice has become the perfect backdrop to my pounding heart.
My phone’s vibrating in my palm. I’m busy pretending I’m taking notes as Drew speaks.
In reality, I’m watching the headlines come in, one after the other, thanks to the alert I set on my phone.
I dare a quick peek at my notifications bar.
Barnard Wellington Missing.
Son of Corporate Tycoon Had Been in Hiding Prior to Disappearing.
Barnard Wellington: Everything You Need to Know About His Fall.
My heart races harder and I quickly return my attention to Drew, my mind a confused whirlwind of contradicting thoughts.
I don’t know why, but I know this has to do with you. Bullshit. I know why. The psychotic look in his eyes when I refused to tell him what Stephen did to me is one I’ll never forget.
God damn it. Your tongue. I had forgotten how good it feels. He made me feel pleasure for the first time in seven years.
First, in the back of my car.
Then, he began haunting my dreams again.
Fuck. That dream I had two nights ago seemed so real. As if he’d actually been in my room, eating my pussy so lovingly.
You’re my enemy. Yet he decided to help my mother of his own volition, before I even asked him to.
The gratitude is still a heady sensation in my veins. I want him, this man who is my enemy. This man that once betrayed me.
I shouldn’t. God help me, I shouldn’t. Hating him is second nature. Has been for the last seven years. It hasn’t gone away.
I think I hate him even more now because all I can think about is walking up to him and biting that sexy, thick neck.
I’d do it hard. Mark him. Possibly draw blood.
“I’ll need you to come with me to the event tonight.”
His words slap me out of my sex-starved haze. “No.”
Drew slows in his pacing. Then, he comes to a full stop, his head swiveling in my direction. “Excuse me?” His eyes are hard. His jaw clenches. This is both the man that seems to be obsessed with me and my boss glaring in outrage at my denial.
My entire body tenses on the chair, preparing for battle, every instinct aware of his aggression rising in the room. “I read your calendar and the briefs of what that event is going to entail. You don’t need me with you.”
But I need distance. Time to myself. Looking at him is enough to erase any sexual trauma. I feared sex for so long.
Yet now I’m crazed to suck his cock.
Writhe on it.
“You’re right. I don’t need you with me for this event.” He starts walking to me and something about his gait seems cruel. “What I do need is you by my side.” Drew grabs the armrests and leans down, trapping me with that ruthless, unrelenting gaze. “At all times. I went seven years without you—don’t ask me to spend another needless minute more.”
“What?” I snap, annoyed at his closeness. At the things he makes me want to do. “You’re planning on moving in, too, just to keep me close at all times?”
His lips twitch and all I want to do is rub my clit all over them. “Don’t tempt me, baby.”
My thighs quiver. I tense them, knowing that he’ll see if I press them together. My pussy aches so bad my teeth start grinding. “I have a choice.” The statement holds no authority, just the softness of a woman in heat.
God damn, his fucking scent.
I press back into the chair, desperate for some space.
Drew’s eyes search mine, before falling to my lips. I gasp as he bites his bottom lip slowly.
He’s going to kiss me.
If he does, I’m going to snap and attack him. Force him to fuck me right on his desk.
He’s still staring at my lips, his pupils slowly expanding until his eyes appear black.
Panicking, I blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. “If you want me to go the event, you’ll answer a question for me and you’ll answer it honestly.”
He backs up a bit at that, seeming surprised. “I’m your boss, remember?” His eyebrow quirks with amusement.
I glare at him and push against his chest until he finally eases away from me. “You want me here more than I want to be here.”
His eyes flash with pain and I blink in surprise at the regret I feel. “You’re probably right about that baby.”
That fucking word. The way he says it.
As if seven years didn’t pass. As if he never betrayed me. As if we’re still back there, in the field, where he’s making all his pretty, glittery promises and pretending I’m his world. You are his world. No idea where that thought came from but I shove it down. Lifting my chin, I stare at him right in the eyes. “If you want me to come, tell me. Where’s Barnard Wellington right now?”

Mary is resilient and used to restarting her life from nothing, but when it looks like she’ll also lose the man she loves, maybe the happy girl has just had enough?

Wilder’s wonderful grandfather is dead, and so is her mother, but Grandpa Willy gives her one final gift in his will – the knowledge that her father is only her step-father.

Jiminella “Jinx” Sweetwater is a genius. She’s a scholar, an inventor, hardworking and loyal, and well known in the scientific circles around the University in Prosper City.
Being smarter than everyone else might seem like a good thing, but it isn’t. At least, it isn’t to Jinx who has two friends, a small condo, and no life.
After a fight with her best friend Wilder, it just gets worse. Someone breaks into her home and when her parents show up in all their hippie-like glory, Jinx has had enough and escapes to a small village by the sea.
Suddenly, Jinx finds herself involved in village life, living with the unpleasant Mrs. Fratinelli and trying her best to juggle all the things that seem to end up on her plate. And then there’s calm, cool and gorgeous Dante – Snow’s boyfriend, who seems to see right through the shields Jinx has put up around herself, straight into her mind.
Excerpt
They walked in late in the evening, a little drunk and a lot rowdy, three of them laughing and dragging the fourth along with them.
I carried an empty tray in one hand and tried to tuck my notepad into the back pocket of my black, too tight jeans with the other. The place was filled with smoke and laughter, but I was dead tired and the thick layer of cheap makeup I had put on many hours earlier felt sticky. I wasn’t sure where to sleep when I got off shift, and my usual place behind the University library wasn’t an option because early that morning, they’d started removing the dumpsters I usually huddled between. Someone said that they were clearing the site to start building a new art department, but I didn’t care. I’d been busy grabbing my few belongings, scanning the area to see if someone left anything useful that I could get my hands on.
“Come on Hawk,” I heard one of the men saying. “You lost the bet, we got to choose your loss, and this is our choice.”
I wondered what they were doing in a bar like Kinkers. I’d worked there for almost six months, and it was clean enough, but it was located on a back road in a part of Prosper well known to be unsafe. The owner liked to call it a roadhouse and they served lunch, which was the shift I worked most of the time. In the evenings, it was mostly a bar, and no one ever ordered any food, unless you counted peanuts and chips.
It was also a strip joint, and it was usually filled with men but that night was a Friday, so it was ladies’ night. This meant male strippers and an audience filled with women in various stages of inebriation.
“I’m not going to –” the man they’d called Hawk started, but another man cut him off.
“Oh, but you are,” he said gleefully, and called out when the angry man made a dash for the door, “Guys, do something. He’s escaping.”
I couldn’t hold back a loud giggle when I realized why they were there. They meant to put their friend on stage. One of the other men moved slightly, and I turned to look at him. Then I stopped breathing. He was tall and lean, with unruly black hair that was a little too long, and laughing brown eyes. He was so beautiful.
Our eyes met and held, and his brows went up a little.
“Hey, he’s running,” someone shouted, and our gazes unlocked.
The beautiful man turned toward the door, and flicked his fingers at our bouncers in a small gesture, indicating that they should stop his fleeing friend. To my surprise, they grinned and stepped in front of the man just as he reached the doors. I wondered if he’d be crazy enough to fight the brawny bouncers, and for a few seconds, it seemed like he would, but then his head tilted back, and he looked up at the ceiling. I saw his shoulders go up a little as if he was inhaling, and then he turned.
He was gorgeous too although in a completely different way. He looked dangerous and hard. When he walked back to his friends, his eyes flicked over me, and I pulled in air because of the intensity in them, but also because their color was such light amber, they were almost yellow.
“Get the thong,” one of his friends shouted, and the women around the stage that had followed the events started cheering.
“No,” the yellow-eyed man said calmly. “I’ll do this because I pay my debts, but I am not wearing a thong.”
“Don’t worry, Hawk,” the beautiful man laughed. “There are other options.”
Another cheer erupted, and then they moved toward the door leading backstage. Bobby Dawner, the owner of the bar, met them and greeted the beautiful man with a back-thumping bear hug. I heard him boom the man’s name, and it burned into my soul.
“Miller.”
That was the night everything changed. When I got off my shift and walked through the empty streets, looking for something, anything, that could provide cover, I was beaten up by a young man who wanted my meager tips from the evening. I woke up in the hospital and saw a woman sitting in a chair, calmly watching me.
“Do you need help, child?” she asked.
I looked back at her for a long time, and then I gave up. I’d learned the hard way never to trust anyone, but her eyes were kind, and I couldn’t make it on my own anymore, so I decided that I’d accept whatever bad things she might have in store for me. It wouldn’t be worse than the life I already had.
“Yes,” I whispered.
Her eyes softened, and a gentle smile curved her mouth, and when I saw it, I smiled back, tentatively.
“I’m Joelle,” she said.
I was fourteen years old, and that was the night my life resumed.
About the Author

The proper way to put it here would probably be to describe how I love to play with our two big dogs, adore my fantastic daughters and how much I love to read.
Another way would be to use my imagination and then I would be a super powerful warrior woman, think Xena the warrior princess (though with less tacky clothes). Or when I think of it, maybe I’m actually more of a Hercule Poirot (sans the suit and moustache). Or maybe I’m like Aragorn, strong and cool and then I might get to meet Gandalf! Or I could be Bella’s pretty cousin and snap Jacob up in a second (yeah, I’m so not team Edward), or wait, maybe I could be like one of them heroines in historical novels who swoon all the time. I’ve always wanted to swoon…
Well, I guess you get how my mind is working (or not working, some say).
Anyways, I like to write. Stories, adventures, romantic and happy stuff mixed up with sorrow and hardship, and bit of laughter here and there because the way I see it – life is way too short to go around feeling grumpy.

How long have you been narrating?I started narrating audiobooks a year ago in 2016. I own an online book rental company and I did a small voice over bit for a marketing piece. A lot of friends said I really ought to look into doing voice over work. So I started out reading recipe books until I understood what works and what doesn’t work, how best to improve the sound, how much I could speak before my voice ran out, and how best to use the software. Once I felt comfortable navigating all these factors that go into audiobook recordings, I started narrating children’s stories.
What is your favorite genre to narrate and why?I can’t say I have one favorite genre over another. I quite enjoy reading children’s books because you can vocally explore a wide range of voices (many silly voices which are fun). I enjoy adult fiction that fall under first person romance or thriller, because I can delve into the character’s emotions and it taps into my theatrical side.
Do you like input from your authors as far as voice styles or photos of the muses for characters? And is that helpful to you as a narrator?I find voice samples and photos are extremely helpful in knowing what the author saw when they wrote the book. It is especially helpful for long stories with many characters. This helps delineate the characters from one another if you know the actors in real life. The downside can be if you don’t recognize the actor or their character type, then it becomes a concern whether or not you are adequately representing the character as the author intended.
So, you got the audition request for Out of the Box Awakening. What made you accept it? Was there something about the story line or character that drew you in?From the very first paragraph of Out of the Box Awakening, I was drawn to Olivia. There was a wonderful vulnerable quality to her. Jennifer Theriot did such an amazing job of capturing her inner voice, that I knew I wanted to be the voice for Olivia. I also read a lot of the reviews from people that purchased Jennifer’s books and there were some amazing reviews that I knew this would be a book I would not only enjoy narrating, but reading. For a long book (it was estimated at 15 hours), it was important it was a book I would enjoy reading, and I was not wrong it was an incredible story.
Did you have a favorite character in Out of the Box Awakening?Aside from Olivia, Todd is hands down my favorite character. I love the breadth of his character from unapologetic bad boy to hopeless romantic. I enjoyed narrating his lines when he would both swear like a sailor whilst at the same time espousing the merits of love, friendship, and kindness. Is communication with your authors important along the way? Communication with the author along the way is an absolute necessity. Yes, I can narrate a book without any input, but it would be terrible to find at the end that you didn’t get the character as the author intended. What I really enjoyed about working with Jennifer was how easy it was to develop a bond with her, even though we live on opposite sides of the planet. From the start, I knew I would like Jennifer and I immediately felt an obligation to do her story justice. I also felt her supporting and cheering me on as we advanced through the chapters. When you have an author that is excited for the narrator and appreciates the work, it makes it so much more rewarding!
You’ve received some pretty high accolades from Jennifer Theriot. How does that make you feel about doing future projects with her? Would you consider doing any more books in her Out of the Box series?Using one of Olivia’s favorite sayings- “without a doubt”. I would jump at the opportunity to work with Jennifer again. Once I started narrating the final chapters of Awakenings, I felt both thrilled and melancholy to be finishing her story. Not just because the story was ending, but also because it has been such a breath of fresh air working with an author that cares so much for her story, for her narrator, and for the overall experience. I could tell that this story was more than just an endeavor for her. It is a story that lies close to her heart.
Now, a few questions for Triera as a ‘person’….
Do you have a career outside of narrating?Outside of narration, I actually wear a few hats. I own an online book rental company in Denmark. I started it when I first moved here and started my little family. Books and most consumer goods in Denmark are expensive. There is a large second hand market here for that very reason. I was always an avid reader; as a child I was the first one running out to the book mobile. I saw that both my children held this same joy for books, but our libraries only carried about 30 English books. Whilst they would learn Danish and primarily speak Danish, I wanted to read to them and I wanted them to learn English. So I started owlbooks.dk for other expats that found themselves in the same situation.
I also do post production work. My clients are primarily professionals (no Hollywood movies yet). Most of the productions are online projects from commercials, to youtube video logs, coaching and strategy projects. These are a lot of fun and I enjoy the diversity of the projects.
How many audio books are in your repertoire? I have had the pleasure of narrating nine titles. My repertoire entails cook books, children and young adult books, and adult fiction. I’ve been a child, a witch, a vampire, a celestial being, and an amazing woman by the name of Olivia.
Tell us something about yourself and your hobbies.Aside from playing the piano, I love sitting in front of the computer learning new things around the creative digital space. These are the two hobbies that I do on a regular basis, but I’ve delved into so many hobbies and as part of my quest to experience life to the fullest I hope to never stop taking on new hobbies. Many years ago I started taking flying lessons where I got to fly Cessna aircrafts. I was nearly complete with obtaining my private pilot’s license when I wound up moving and no longer lived close enough to my flying club. That was such a thrill and I do hope to take up lessons again.
What does the future hold for Triera? If my history has taught me anything, it’s that there is no telling what my future holds. The beginning never follows a finite line to the end. I started off in this life as an orphan from the ravages of war and I was adopted into a wonderful family of six, worked and traveled throughout the world, and wound up in Denmark as a mother of two angels sent from heaven. I can only hope that my future holds wonderful experiences surrounded by people that I love and care for.

DAYS OF DESIRE by Tina Donahue

by Tina DonahueGenre: Erotic Historical Romance

Shipwrecked! When Royce Hastings is found washed up on the shore of a verdant tropical island, he tells the natives he is a merchant headed for Mozambique. The truth, however, is far more mercenary. Noble by birth, the once favored Royce has lost his fortune and family; now he is a hired henchman on the trail of an elusive pirate. His “shipwreck” was a fake. He’ll stop at nothing to infiltrate the island and capture his prey. His mother and sisters’ lives depend on it.
The last thing Royce expects is to be captured himself. But the lovely young woman who tends to his wounds in the tropics quickly takes hold of his heart. Simone is the island’s healer, and her skilled ministrations not only awaken his soul but disturb his conscience. His path has been predetermined; his identity must remain concealed at all costs. Yet the passion he feels in Simone’s sultry, loving arms cannot be denied. With his loyalties torn, Royce must make an agonizing, unthinkable choice...

Simone padded to him, pulse racing. His bed-mussed hair showed her how he’d look once he enjoyed her. She fought her urge to smooth back the strands. “Bonjour.”
He made a noise that sounded aroused.
Her heart beat faster. “Finish your bacon, please. While you eat, I should change the sheet.”
He chewed quickly, swallowed, and lifted his face.
She couldn’t imagine anything more pleasant than his mouth on hers. “You can sit in the chair while I tend the bed. Let me help you to it.” She slipped her arm around his middle.
He favored his uninjured leg, brow furrowing, breath coming hard and fast.
She stroked his bandaged thigh. “Does it hurt?”
“Bloody right it does.”
He pressed her against the wall, imprisoning her wrists, his length molded to hers. “You’re driving me mad. I can’t take any more of this. I won’t.”
He slanted his mouth over hers.
She surrendered willingly, joyously, accepting his tongue, melting into him.
His savage growl told her all she needed to know. He desired her.
She’d never been more alive.
His touch branded her soul, claiming it, marking her forever. She twisted free from his hold and wreathed her arms around his shoulders, her fingers buried in his silken hair to keep him near.
Their greedy and wild kiss turned tender and slow.
She ground her hips into his, needing to be closer.
He held her so tightly nothing could come between them.
Pleasure sped from every direction, filling her.
Forever wouldn’t have been long enough to enjoy him. His bristly cheeks rasped hers, the mild sting encouraging her to yield further. She longed to wake up each morning to him and this.
They only had now.
Whatever the future brought, Simone refused to dwell on loss. She’d willingly belong to him for a moment rather than have no time at all. In two or three months, she’d say good-bye. Not today.
A fist pounded on the door.
She flinched.
Royce tore his mouth free and limped to the footboard, too far away from her.
“Simone.” James knocked. “Are you in there?”
“Oui.”
“Is Royce awake?”
“Yes, I’m up.”
“Good. Tristan wants to see you as soon as you dress. I brought a clean shirt and breeches for you.”
Simone put out her hand, stopping Royce from crossing the room. “Stay where you are. Rest your leg.” She smoothed her hair and opened the door.
James handed the clothes over. “Once Royce is dressed, I’ll escort him to the dining room.”
“I have to put a new poultice and bandage on him first.”
“No rush.” He crossed his arms and leaned against the opposite wall. “I’ll wait.”
She slammed the door.
Royce washed at the basin. Water clung to his long lashes and chest hair. He scratched his throat.“I should shave you.”
“Tristan’s not going to wait for that. I have to get dressed.”
“Not before I change your bandage.”
“It’s fine. Do you have a towel?”
She clasped the clothes to herself and kept her voice low. “I enjoyed our kiss, did you?”
He glanced around, then dried his face on the bedsheet. “What happened shouldn’t have.”
“Why not? I want you and you want me.”
“Give me the clothes.”
She twisted, keeping them from him. “Are you worried that someday you’ll leave? I know you will. We can enjoy each other until then.”
“No.”
Her stomach cramped. “Why not?”
“There’s no point, no future. You deserve better than me.”
