Excerpt One: The Benicia Belle

“Shuck the knives,” Clint said simply, throwing a leg over the pommel and slipping from the saddle without turning his back on the man. He unbuckled his gun belt and hung it on the horn, running his own ten-inch knife alongside the Colt’s into its holster. Blanchard guffawed at this turn of events. “Why, you [...]

Busy time....

My wife has three new titles up on Kindle, The Haunted Trilogy, which consists of The Dream, The Silent Rose, and The Secret; all acclaimed novels by those who love and review paranormals. The Silent Rose is particularly poignant to me as she and I stayed in a B&B on the east coast and had some strange experiences...the only time I ever slept with the light on. When inquiring at the breakfast if anything strange ever happened in the house, the matron informed me, casually, that a child was killed there and the father built the house over his grave. It gives me chills now to recall it.

We have just finished a promotion on Quiet Ops, which I wrote with Bob Burton, America's No. 1 bounty hunter. Bob has had more fascinating experiences than can be chronicled in a single book, which is one of the reasons we have three together: Crimson Hit, Bullet Blues, and Quiet Ops, all available on Amazon in print and eBook. If you enjoy a fast can't-put-it-down read, these are the books for you.

I've also just put The Benicia Belle up as an eBook for the first time. It was a Spur Award runner up, the 2nd of 47 entries that year. If you have any interest in the history of the west this will be a must read for you.

Anywhooo, that's what's going on here at Wolfpack Ranch, where my beautiful romantic suspense writing wife and I attack the keyboards on a daily basis.

Quiet Ops

Have recently finished QUIET OPS, written with my friend Bob Burton, who's the No. 1 bounty hunter in the country, as well as a trainer for bodyguards, bounty hunters, and currently maritime employees needing skills to repel pirates. QUIET OPS is a crime thriller and currently available on Amazon. Our prior books were CRIMSON HIT and BULLET BLUES.

Getting ready for hunting season, setting up elk camp in the high country, all why trying to promote my own and my wife's books (just released DUELING HEARTS and THE SECRET as eBooks for the first time.

A busy time, both inside and out, and it's raining like crazy.

A couple of novels NEW to Kindle

I've been working hard on a couple of my wife's titles, getting them on Kindle for the first time. THE SECRET is a paranormal set here in Montana, in the fictional town of Lost Peak in the beautiful Mission Valley. DUELING HEARTS is one of her most popular western romances. It was fun doing the covers (I'm a frustrated art major) and a video for DUELING HEARTS. As these were older titles, written on long gone computer programs, we had to have them retyped in order to get original word files to convert to eBooks. But they are now up and available on Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook, and smashwords.com. Hope you'll look for them!

Quiet Ops

I've just released QUIET OPS, a contemporary crime novel written with Bob Burton, America's No. 1 bounty hunter with over 3,000 arrests. Bob is currently training bounty hunters (bail enforcement officers), bodyguards, and maritime employees needing skills to repel pirates.

Quiet Ops is a story of a company of the same name, run by Brad "Bulldog" Benedict, along with his associates, and a job to recover a billionaires twin daughters from a high-dollar crib in Malibu, adults as the are 23 which makes the job more difficult as they are on the needle, thanks to a rapper and happy in their drug induced state...taking them against their will is kidnapping. The case is complicated when the recovery goes amis and the father, in Florida, is kidnapped as well...all while Brad is under suspicion for a murder in Santa Barbara.

A quote from America's No. 1 crime writer: "Bob Burton knows crime and how to write about it...you won't put this one down." Elmore Leonard.

Shadow of the Grizzly Excerpt 2

Excerpt 2 Twotoes worked his way north in the low foothills, then, feeling much stronger, climbed high and followed a long ridge of blue granite until the weather cooled with the elevation and the deep shade of pines. He rested in a patch of Manzanita, dozing and watching his back trail, his stomach heavy with [...]

Shadow of The Grizzly Excerpt 3

As he returned to work, Clint noticed a low sound, concentrated on it, and realized it was a quiet whining. He searched the yard with his gaze, but could not find the source. Had one of the dogs stayed behind? He walked toward the house and rounded the corner. Floppy-eared, red as a bay horse, [...]

Shadow of the Grizzly Excerpt 1

Clint leaned against the clean barked rail of the new breaking pen, watching Ramón give Gideon a lesson in horse breaking. Built for strength, the pen, except for its gate, was constructed of posts buried upright, side by side, a solid wall of outward-leaning logs. The subject of Ramón’s attention was a dun-colored, Roman-nosed broomtail [...]
