Messages & "The Last Ride"

The tavern stands in for a bar that Hank Williams, Sr., visits the night before he dies. But the movie was shot in central Arkansas, and the WWT was the actual location for the bar scene.

WWT also plays a role in "Messages." It's the setting for a important conversation between two characters near the end of the book. And in this case, the place IS mentioned by name.

WWT has earned a reputation as one of the hottest spots on the Arkansas music scene -- and obviously, its reputation has grown beyond just that area.

By the way, in the movie, actor Henry Thomas absolutely disappears into the role of Williams, and does a fabulous job. It's worth your time to see it.

Goodreads initial reaction

"Messages" has only been out for a couple of weeks, but I've been getting private emails from some early readers. I haven't asked for permission to use names, but here are some quotes from some of the emails I've received:

"... you've outdone yourself ... "
"I just had to write and let you know how much I'm enjoying it..."
"The book is wickedly funny..."
"I can't put it down"
"A good read!"
