New Release from the Detective Jack Stratton Series

New Novel in Detective Jack Stratton Series

And Then She Was Gone

is available for pre-order today

I'm pleased to announce my latest Detective Jack Stratton novel is now available for pre-order. And Then She Was GONE is a riveting new suspense novel that keeps you guessing until the end. The novel begins with Jack getting ready to enlist in the Army when he's swept up into his first case. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll let the book’s blurb do the talking for me:

What’s done in the dark will be brought to the light…

The silhouette stood at the edge of the woods like a spider watching a fly enter its carefully crafted web. Only a few more steps and she’d be within grasp.

Stacy Shaw has her whole life ahead of her. New job, new house and now she’s pregnant; everything she’s ever hoped for is finally coming true—but on a warm summer night on the way home from work she vanishes…. As the police race to find her, the details don’t add up. Conflicting facts emerge as her story twists and turns, sending the trail spiraling in all directions.

A hometown hero with a heart of gold, Jack Stratton was raised in a whorehouse by his prostitute mother, but now his life has taken a turn for the better. He’s headed for a career in law enforcement when his foster mother asks him to look into the disappearance. Jack quickly gets drawn into the baffling mystery where everyone becomes a suspect—including himself. Caught between the criminals and the cops, can Jack discover the truth in time before he becomes the next victim?

Life After War –Tips On Career Paths for Veterans

Adjusting to civilian life is a real, and very serious struggle. Jack knows this. Unless you have experienced the intense physical and mental training, the camaraderie, the discipline, the honor and passion of being in the United States military, it can be hard to wrap your mind around the struggle of adjusting to being in the “real world.”

There are a few factors that go in to becoming acclimated into civilian life – and the most important factor is finding another purpose – finding a career. It’s important to find a good fit as a veteran with a distinct set of skills.

That being said, the first step is to figure out what those skills are, and that could really depend on what your job was in the military. Were you on the medical team? Were you an officer? Technology? Weaponry? Whatever the case may be, find it and start there. Sometimes the cards are not dealt the way you’d like, and you end up grabbing the first job available and it’s a huge culture shock – the lack of discipline, the lack of respect that surrounds civilian life.

Once you find your niche, the second important task that needs to be done is to communicate with your superiors. Not too many people understand military life and all that encompasses it. The best thing any veteran can do is communicate with their supervisors, and even the peers they’d be working directly with. Are there any subjects to steer away from? Are there any triggers? How do you work best? Are you a leader? Do you take direction well? All of these are very important questions that need to be answered to make a veteran’s transition as seamless as possible.

Although Detective Jack Stratton knew exactly what he wanted to be after his time in the Army – he still had a large learning curve to overcome once he got home. He experienced death and trauma that not too many Americans can relate to, let alone time in combat. But with the help of his family, friends, and colleagues, he was able to become the rugged, limit-pushing detective we all know and love.

All the luxuries we have in the United States – the freedom, the safety, the democracy, the wealth – is because of our troops fighting both oversees and at home in the Reserves. They protect us, they care for us, they love us, and they’d die for us. The very least we can do is provide for them after their time in the military is over.

To all our past and present military personnel, thank you.

The Life of a Detective Part 2 – The Good, The Bad, And The UGLY!

Along with the struggle on maintaining a love life, Detective Jack Stratton knows a thing or two about the dangers of being an officer!

In the sometimes thankless job of a police officer, responsibility is your number one priority. It can be a huge burden, and in the same capacity, it can be an honor. Not even taking the erratic hours into consideration and the emotional toll it takes on someone, but it also requires time to decompress. And for some cops, letting go seems impossible. Even when an officer isn’t on the clock, he’s always mentally on duty. To be an officer, it is not simply his occupation, but part of who he is.  It affects how he sees the world and the people in it, what he thinks about, and even how he moves.

Another huge consideration is the need for adaptability and routine. The life of an officer is unpredictable and he can be called out to work at a moment’s notice, so it’s essential to be able to adapt to different circumstances on the fly.

Now the most important aspect about the life of Detective Jack Stratton is the danger, not just for him but for those he loves as well. When he walks out the door for work, there is no guarantee he will return home safely.

While the life of an officer is a sacrifice, the reward is immense. It is a way of life…the life of a hero.

Are you excited to hear more about the world of Detective Jack Stratton? Stay tuned for more updates on the next book, Just Jack!

The Love Life of a Detective – The Good, The Bad, And The UGLY!

To Detective Jack Stratton, love, like life itself, is both a mystery and an adventure - and in Jack’s case, a downright DANGEROUS one! Now if you know Jack, you know that Jack isn’t afraid of danger, he’s drawn to it like a moth to a flame. The hotter and more intense it gets, the better.

Detective Jack Stratton has a “what you see is what you get” persona. He is a Johnny Cash of sorts; he loves deeply, but that leaves him to be vulnerable enough to be hurt deeply as well.  What kind of woman would want to love a man like Jack? ...Someone capable of climbing over the wall he has built around his battered heart. ...Someone strong who can see past Jack’s defense system and take the risk of being loved by him.

Who could be Detective Jack Stratton’s perfect “partner in crime”?

What do you think of Jack’s love life?

Are you in love with an officer? I want to hear from you!
