T - Detective Thorn + 99 CENTS SALE!

Hurricane Crimes rode on the shoulders of Beth and Donovan while they’re stuck together during a hurricane. Only one other person, a bad guy, makes an appearance and that’s near the end of the story. But in Seismic Crimes, many characters make appearances, and Thorn is definitely my favorite.
Thorn is a detective for the Orlando Police Department. He works sting operations and helps to bring down drug dealers. The case he’s on now is Ryan Goldwyn’s murder. He’s working with Donovan, Officer...

Writing About: Stalkers

Having a stalker is truly frightening. A stalker can target someone for any reason. And anyone can be stalked: celebrities, women, men, and children. A stalker can be an ex boy/girlfriend, a jealous coworker or friend, an estranged family member, or a stranger. Stalkers don’t just come in the big cities but anywhere in the world. Wherever people live, stalkers lurk.
Some things to consider if you ever write a story with a stalker in it:
1. Who is the stalker?
Sometimes, in real life, this isn’t...

Habits and Quirks / Character ER + Question of the Month

This is my 500th blog post! YAY!!!! :D

A simple way to give a character more depth is to give your character a habit or quirk…or two. I eat salad and eggs at night for a snack, randomly sing “Jingle Bells, Batman Smells”, and wear socks every day even in the summer and even then my toenails are always painted pretty colors. Those are a few of my habits and quirks. I bet you have some, too.
Habit – a regular tendency or practice that is hard to give up.
Examples: smoking with a cup of coffee or...

S - Seismic Activity in SEISMIC CRIMES

You can probably guess that there’s a lot of seismic activity in Seismic Crimes from a massive quake to aftershocks. I had fun writing these thrilling scenes and the aftermath of the quake. To really pique your interest in the second installment and full novel of the Disaster Crimes Series, I’m sharing an excerpt to show some of that seismic activity.

This is the official excerpt for Seismic Crimes:
The moment she realized Buck was shooting under the cars to hit her, the tire she hid behind...

Writing About: Blizzards

Another disaster I highlighted in my 2015 A to Z Challenge was blizzards. Most northern states and Canada experience blizzards and snowstorms. The threat of a blizzard arises every winter in these places, so it’s not a stretch to think a fiction story set in the north during the winter may include at least a snowstorm that cancels school for a day or two, but with our current hostile weather a strong blizzard isn’t out of the question.
Now if you write a blizzard into your book it should either...

Not to worry. I'm not talking about a real turtle, but bread shaped like a turtle. This is so much fun to do with kids. And it's so yummy. We gobble this bread up whenever I make it with my nephews.

How to Create a Newsletter

Since this is a long post, I created a downloadable PDF for anyone who wants to save this information for later. :) To download it click: How to Create a Newsletter

I started my author newsletter last year, and I love it! (Some authors decide not to do one for various reasons, which is just fine. The decision is up to the author.)
Dispel the idea that it’ll take too much time. Once you create one newsletter to email to your subscribers, you can use that format to make another one in just...
