Ask Your Favorite Character!
Heeeeeeeeeeey guys! Got something fun here for everyone! You see, I’d been kicking around the idea of doing some character interviews, but I’d never managed to get around to it for two reasons, though one of them is a little bigger than the other–I had no idea what kinds of questions they needed to be asked. Combine that with a lack of time, and whoa … it wasn’t coming along easily.
That’s when I had the thought; why not let readers ask them questions? So that’s precisely what I’m going to do! :)
Would you like to ask Cade why he keeps a beard? Or maybe ask Isaac for dating advice? All characters are available for questioning, so don’t hold back!
Now, with that said, there are just a few caveats!;
1. This is (obviously) for entertainment purposes only!
2. I reserve the right to ignore any question(s) I feel are unacceptable, or may provide “spoilery” information.
3. Feel free to ask as many questions as you’d like! However, they may not all be answered at once. Depending upon the volume of questions asked, I may have to split them up into sessions!
4. When asking your question, PLEASE SPECIFY which character is being asked!
5. Have fun! :D
If having a little fun isn’t incentive enough, then I should also add this; I’ll be keeping an eye out for my favorite questions, and offering a free book of choice to the questionnaires via coupon code on Smashwords!
So send those questions in by commenting on this post, or, if you don’t have an account, fill out the form below!
[contact-form]
Thanks guys! I hope you have fun! :D

Strange Brew Paperback Update
So, some of you know about the trouble I’ve been having with KDP’s new paperback option and trying to get my third book, Strange Brew, added to it. But some of you don’t, and instead of simply providing a link to the previous post I made concerning this issue, I’m going to do an entire summary right here because I’ll admit, I’m not entirely certain where to go from here.
So basically, I need help! If anyone’s so inclined to offer suggestions that is.
At the end of November, I started preparing the files for Strange Brew’s paperback to be converted from Createspace and added to KDP. I’d done this with both Blue Moon and Light of Dawn with no troubles; it was a simple matter of providing the ISBN and allowing the program to pull the information for each title through and adding it to KDP and voila! Here’s a nice shiny paperback version!
But when I got to Strange Brew, things weren’t so simple.
I have my books set to a particular trim size and print color for the pages, and naturally, with these books belonging to the same series, I’d like to have some uniformity between the paperbacks; they should all be the same size and have the same page colors. However, when I pulled Strange Brew from Createspace, the size and print color options on KDP didn’t match. The book was a few inches smaller and the print was set to cream paper instead of white.
So why not change the settings, you may ask. Well, KDP doesn’t allow you to once a book has been pulled through from Createspace. All of the print settings on converted books are locked in, meaning I was stuck and had to contact their support teams.
How did that go? I won’t lie; not so well.
The first message I received pretty much ignored my problem altogether. I’d explained that the options were not what Createspace listed for the book, yet this guy suggested, “You can either leave the trim size and paper type as is to match the setting which were pulled through from CreateSpace … ”
Oh, pardon me, because you know, I can’t read the options I picked for my own book and compare them to KDP to see that the actually weren’t pulled through correctly, nor did I actually detail this as being the problem when I emailed you. *Sigh*
So I sent another message, and thankfully, the lady who responded was much more helpful. She escalated the problem and over the course of two weeks (while sending me an update in between), informed me of the progress of fixing the book’s errors. Finally, in the middle of December, I got a message stating that the problems had been fixed, and I should check my account for review and make certain everything was in order.
So I did, but only half the problem had been corrected.
The book was now set to the proper size, yet the page color was still set to cream instead of white. Trust me, at this point, my hair was lying on the floor because I’d pulled it all out.
Before I continue with this huge mess of a problem, allow me to note that the biggest problem with these emails is there’s no option to reply directly to the support member who’d been working on the case. The only option you have is to report on how they did (an option I haven’t taken yet because I’ve been so frustrated with this whole thing and also, the holidays were around, leaving me with little time to properly articulate a review).
So I ignored that option, and finally sent another inquiry stating that only half the problem had been fixed. What response did I get?
This; “Regarding the email you’ve sent us I did some research and asked our technical team and unfortunately that option cannot be changed since it is locked. The option I can offer you if you really would like to change the paper color is to re-publish your paperback again with a new KDP free ISBN. And after you do it you can let us know so we can link the reviews from the old paperback to the new one, so you still will keep the reviews.”
……………
So, a couple questions here;
A. If the options are locked and you’re unable to change them, then how, oh how, did the previous tech support member manage to change the book’s trim size, which was also locked?
B. Again, I can’t reply directly to this guy, so even if I wanted to republish and keep my reviews, how the hell would I do that?
At this point, I’m so fed up with the run around that I’m contemplating doing one of three things;
1. I leave Strange Brew on Createspace, which means keeping it at $17.00 instead of bringing it down to a much more reasonable $13.99.
2. I sacrifice uniformity and bring it through to KDP with cream colored paper and knock the price down.
3. I unpublish the book, lose the reviews I’ve accumulated (at this point, I don’t trust KDP’s support teams to properly link the reviews), and put the paperback on KDP with the proper size and print settings and at a lower price.
4. I submit a new ticket pointing out how the paperback’s trim size was locked and changed, so the print color shouldn’t be beyond their control to edit either.
5. I take all my books off of KDP and spite them by getting traditionally published.
#5 is the extreme, impractical option obviously lol! :)
Anyway, option #3 might be the best bet. Strange Brew has only accumulated 4 reviews on Amazon overall, so it’s not as if I’d be axing a huge number. Yet even those 4 reviews are helpful in getting my book the type of promotion it needs if anyone’s going to see it (although I’ll admit, it’s nowhere near enough to get Amazon’s algorithms to suggest the book to readers in searches) and I’m reluctant to axe what my readers have said about my book.
Anyway, that’s what’s going on right now (among numerous other things I haven’t updated and need to but just haven’t quite found the time for it yet). So if anyone has any suggestions, let me know! I’d be glad to entertain them! Thanks so much!

The Crucible Series Book 7: Fated Fortunes Cover Reveal & Synopsis
The Crucible Paranormal Romance Series Book Seven: Fated Fortunes
Dalris Dra’Kai has served as the Terran head of his Draconian House for many long years, assigning jobs, collecting payments, and conducting family affairs. It’s a responsibility he takes seriously, though lately he’s longed for something more fulfilling than organizing business matters—and a good start would be finding his eternal mate.
But eight lonely centuries hasn’t offered much hope, and it isn’t until an unexpected encounter with a mysterious figure from his recent past that Dalris learns his mate isn’t what she seems. Furthermore? She’s on a treasure hunt of her own, but the prize she seeks isn’t riches or esteem … .
Jada Tavar has dedicated her life to finishing her grandfather’s work, and the elven antiquarian wasn’t searching for just any mundane treasure. Instead, he sought the true fate of the lost House of Rinora, a dangerous quest that inevitably cost his life. So the last thing Jada needs is a centuries-old draconian recognizing her as his mate, specifically when elves are forbidden from mating with their kind.
But Dalris is seductively persistent, and she finds the draconian more than just a little intriguing. His wicked promises and passionate kisses are impossible to ignore, and the closer they get, the more Jada wants him in her life. Yet the conclusion of her quest may reveal a truth that would condemn their fated connection for all time.
Estimated Release: Spring 2017
I think it was painfully obvious from my teaser on this book that we were returning to the world of draconians and House Dra’Kai. So here’s the official confirmation; we’re returning to the world of draconians and House Dra’Kai! Hooray!–particularly if you were a fan of Light of Dawn/Ulric and Charlotte.
Now, the eldest brother is getting his story, and I’m personally excited to finally introduce the elves of my series here with Jada Tavar.
I also wanted to mention this while I’m giving away tiny hints and tidbits on what’s to come; I’ve been told that one of the good things about my books is how subtle the world building is. Readers don’t have to break their brains to understand what’s going on. I also want to make certain each of my books are written as stand alones so you can pretty much break into the series with whichever book you chose, and not have to worry about either spoilers for other books, or just trying to keep up with what’s going on because you haven’t read the story “up to now”.
Fated Fortunes is definitely a stand alone as well, however, this book is really going to plunge into things with lore, myths, and some history, at least as far as the world of Ithelyon is concerned. In fact, I made a post on my facebook page a few months ago saying I’d realized I was probably going to have to include a world map of Ithelyon with this story, but whether or not I can/will, I will definitely be posting up a map on my website with a list of the places visited in this book, because we go to quite a few.
I wanted to mention this just because I feel like my series is at a point where things are starting to get much larger than the seeds planted in Blue Moon. I’ve always wanted a series with stories that are vastly different, that way, if one book isn’t satisfying, the reader might find another that’s more up their alley. The Final Calling, for example, was quite an adventure, while Hunter’s Moon took us back to a small, southern town. Fated Fortunes, on the other hand, is going to involve some traveling, and I’m extremely eager to see where it will all go! :)
I’m aiming for a May release with this one, but time will tell whether or not I can get it out any sooner than that. So in the meantime, thanks so much everyone for your continued support! It means the world!
Cheers! :D

Writer’s Playlist!
With the new year rolling in around the world, I wanted to stop by and make a random post that could be interesting if you’re a music lover, or a writer looking for inspiration. I happen to be both, and I’ve accumulated a number of songs on my playlists that usually inspire my muse when she’s down, or just help my day flow easier.
That aside, I’ve been asked on occasion what tunes I listen to when I write, or if I even listen to anything at all, and the answer is yes and no. Some songs I listen to during the writing process, usually if they don’t have lyrics. Others I just listen to at random for inspiration of ideas. Either way, I wanted to share some of these songs here, and even thought I might list what parts of my stories I’ve come to associate them with the most.
So here’s a list of 10 songs (I wouldn’t say they’re my favorites, but they’re some of the most listened to on my list) that helps me get the ball rolling, and you might also enjoy! (Please note; I’m not associated with any of these bands or musicians in any way, and I haven’t been paid or otherwise prompted to share their music. This list is purely of my own making for everyone’s enjoyment!)
1. Two Steps From Hell – Starfall
If anyone’s surprised by the amount of Two Steps From Hell that’s on my playlist, they’ve obviously never listened to this group before. This song in particular has a nicely magical, earthy sound, and I listened to it a great deal when writing about the lupines in my series. Perhaps, because of this, it will forever remind me of Cade, Ashley, and just anyone in the Arkin City Pack, but it also reminds me of my attempts to become a self published author altogether since Blue Moon was the first book I ever published.
2. Two Steps From Hell – Skyworld
Yet another pick by TSFH, Skyworld is an epic tune that’s good for writing action sequences. On a personal note, I associate this song with my draconians, largely because I listened to it a ton while writing Light of Dawn, but also because, in my mind, it suits them. So Ulric, this one’s for you, hah! :)
3 & 4. Alice Francis – St. James Ballroom & Tape Five – Dixie Biscuit
These are some of the songs on my playlist with lyrics that I really enjoy. To be honest, I don’t specifically find them inspiring along the lines of writing, but one thing they help with is keeping me focused when I’m working on books covers or just creating a new design for my website, etc.. As a side note, I’d definitely suggest these tunes if you’re into Swing! :P
5. Two Steps From Hell – After the Fall
And we’re back to TSFH again! Unlike the last two songs on the list, and even the previous two TSFH songs, this one is much more mellow, and in a way (I think) romantic. It also reminds me (personally) of witchcraft for reasons I can’t say, though I will admit to listening to it a lot while writing Strange Brew–particularly during Aislinn’s dance! :3
This one’s short, only about 2 minutes long, but it packs an epic punch, and unlike some other songs, it actually makes me think of a single character in my series before the group he’s associated with; Ardilon, a.k.a. The Dead God. That said, it’s so short I usually put it on repeat whenever I listen to it, just to squeeze a few more minutes of enjoyment out of it! :)
7. Gabrielle Aapri – Weeping Willow
Who likes slow, hauntingly enchanting piano tunes? I certainly do, and this is actually a new addition to my playlist that I’ve dearly enjoyed. When I first heard this song, it was actually playing on someone’s tumblr blog, but like a fist to the gut, the moment I heard it, I knew I wanted it. Why? It reminded me hands down of the austere sorceress, Chandra, and helped me to develop parts of her backstory that I hadn’t quite thought of yet. In any case, every time I listen to this melody, I get chills, and I hope you guys find it just as inspiring!
8. West One Music – Fantasy Chorale
If you’re looking for a song filled with wonder, look no further. This is another melody that causes chills, and I can’t help but imagine the vast exploration of a world I didn’t know existed before whenever I listen to it. Additionally, I’ve found a great deal of inspiration for the fae in my series with this tune.
9. Apocalyptica – The Unforgiven
This one’s possibly an “oldie but goodie”. Or at least, it’s probably one of the oldest songs on my playlist, and I’ve listened to it while writing on numerous occasions, going much farther back than my current series. If anyone knows Apocalyptica, then they know the orchestral sound that this song employs, and I’ve personally come to associate it with numerous things, yet nothing more so than one of my characters, being Arias.
10. Panic! At The Disco – Emperor’s New Clothes
I won’t say I saved the best for last, but this one has a special place in my heart. I actually hadn’t heard it until I was writing The Final Calling last year when a friend said, “This song makes me think of Isaac so much!” So I listened to it, and at first, I didn’t actually make the connection. However, my obliviousness didn’t last long, and I soon realized it made me think of him as well. The shameless Perosian has been around since Blue Moon and before this song even came out, but it was “instrumental” in inspiring me! :)
Happy New Year! :D

New Year, New Ideas!
So, with 2016 drawing to a close, and 2017 just beginning, we’ve got some time to make some new resolutions, right? Well, if you’re the type anyway, and I actually managed to fulfill my resolutions! For 2016, I wanted to get two books published, The Final Calling, and Hunter’s Moon, which are out now, hooray! But with a new year rolling around, I have the chance to get a jump start in the writing arena.
I’ll admit, I’ve already done this as well, having shoveled quite a bit of sand into Book Seven so far, and I should be able to make a more solid announcement on that in the coming weeks (aside from that pesky teaser image I posted anyway). I also recall mentioning my plans for putting together another box set of my books sometime soon, and despite some progress, I’m still trying to set up my paperbacks on Amazon.
So here’s a little update on the previous post I made concerning my paperback books; After struggling with KDP’s technical support to get the issues with Strange Brew’s book fixed, I was finally notified that they went in to change the settings manually, and all should be good to go now. So I went to check, and while the technical team had set the book’s trim size to the proper settings, they left the print color to creme paper instead of changing it to white.
Needless to say, I’m not impressed with KDP’s tech support right now.
But I haven’t been able to email them about the problem yet (holidays get busy you know), so I’ll be doing that first thing in the new year, and once again, I’ll keep you all updated on the progress. At this point, I’m just wondering how many times they’ll mess up before getting things right.
Lastly, I also have some ideas for a few holiday novella’s to write, though I have no idea when I’ll be able to get any of them underway, so that’s a huge TBA!
In the meantime, I hope you’re all having a happy new year, and I’ll be by to post updates on everything as they come! Cheers! :D

Hunter’s Moon by Angela Colsin
Thanks so much for the review, Debra! :)
The blurb: Caleb Hodgins is a lupine known to the Arkin City Pack as an easy going wolf with a carefree attitude. But after tragedy strikes because of what he is, he’s left with a painful secret and the weight of grief hanging on his shoulders. Such heartache causes Caleb to swear he’ll never seek companionship with a human woman again, and it’s a plan that works well enough—until Emily Sterling comes to town.
When presented with the opportunity to take a long sought job in Arkin City, Emily quickly accepts, moving halfway across the country to live next door to her childhood friend, Joslyn Santiago-Hodgins. After years of keeping in touch long distance, she finally meets the people in Joslyn’s life, and finds everyone easy to fit in with—that is, everyone except Joslyn’s brother-in-law, Caleb.
Emily has no idea why he’s so put off by her, and his dismissive…

The Pantheon
It occurred to me the other day that I hadn’t finished a few random odd jobs I’d wanted to do, and I started diddling with them between working on Book Seven of The Crucible Series (yeah, I posted a pesky teaser a few weeks ago and haven’t actually confirmed anything there yet. Author’s prerogative :P). One of these odd jobs was getting a more detailed image of the pantheon up (you know, the gods and goddesses lording over the universe in my series, which would technically be me, right? I dunno lol!).
Anywho!
A few of these deities have been discussed over the course of the series, for example, Edith mentioned Mias and Mia to Isaac in The Final Calling, and Chandra mentioned Aea to Charlotte in Light of Dawn. We’ve also heard a few things about Peros in relation to Perosian Demons, and I’ve mentioned Ardios in the preface of Blue Moon. So I finally got around to making a chart showing the various deities of The Pantheon, which you can find below! :)
Sadly, I couldn’t post the full size image (too big) so this one may be a bit hard to read. But never fear! I’m here to hold your hand while you look over this random listing of divine entities which may or may not be responsible for all life in the universe!
But! Before I get started with the list, I wanted to note the “???’s” inside of some of the circles. Why are there ???’s, you may ask? Well, there could be a number of reasons. Maybe I don’t have a name for the deity yet, or maybe the deity is largely unknown. It may also be that the deity involved is part of a larger spoiler I’m not yet ready to reveal.
Lastly, it could be a combination of these reasons! You just never know :D
So! With that said, here’s the list!
Greater Gods
(outer circle) going clockwise from the top;
Nayala – Goddess of Life
Velias – God of Magic
Peros – God of Darkness
Avoros – God of Hate
Ineyad – God of Death
Athara – Goddess of Love
Udana – Goddess of Light
Satora – Goddess of Wisdom
Lesser Gods
(middle circle) going clockwise from the top right;
Ynarion – God of Inspiration
Kit – Goddess of Mystery
Lerces – God of Vengeance
Xila – Goddess of War
Nemus – God of Peace
??? – God of Justice
Ardios – God of Mastery
??? – Goddess of Prosperity
Minor Gods
(inner circle) going clockwise from the top;
Esiana – Goddess of Nature
??? – God of Hope
Mias & Mia – Moon Deities
??? – God of Fear
Pivar – God of Transcendence
??? – Goddess of Desire
Aea – Goddess of the Sun
??? – Goddess of Foresight
Elemental Pantheon
(interior diamond) going clockwise from the top;
Relios – God of Earth
Enara – Goddess of Water
Inatra – Goddess of Storms
Virion – God of Spirit
Nalx – God of Fire
Deles – Goddess of Air
As for that last little circle in the center with the ???’s, no, that’s not a typo, but if I revealed what/who/why it is, I’d have to exert my divine influence and make you forget immediately after you learned the reason it’s there. Again, author’s prerogative :P!
The last note is that the placement of these deities on this chart was done by relation. For example, the goddess of light would be in the same area as the sun goddess obviously. Justice is between light and love while vengeance is between darkness and hate. I wouldn’t go as far as to say this means the lesser gods are the “sum of two parts”, but there is a connection, and I like to make things seem at least marginally more sensible than just randomizing the information.
I also realize that listing the names in this manner is really, well, uninformative. It makes this pantheon look like nothing more than a list of names on a page with no legitimacy, which is one of the reasons I hesitated to post this. However, I have mentioned some of these deities in the series, and because we haven’t gotten a chance to learn more yet, it seemed like a good idea to say a little on the matter.
So, despite the fact that little has been explored of this Pantheon to date, it does actually play a bigger part in the universe at large (and without handing out spoilers, we might be learning more about them in Book Seven). The Crucible, after all, is an organization of “divine beings” (Ardilon mentions that “The Gods call us Aethrene,” and these would be the same group of gods he’s referring to of course) so we’ll eventually run into more information concerning them.
Happy Holidays everyone!!! :)

The Story So Far …
So, I’ve gotten some questions from a few readers recently that basically involve “how do you story?”, which I think was meant to be a compliment. My series now spans 6 books, and there are a lot of intricacies and plot threads branching out across them, some of which have caused readers to glare at me unforgivingly (i.e. “How could you do that to Edith you monster!?”) while others have yet to be explained. So I thought I’d make a few comments over these aspects of my books to answer the question, and deliver the answer in the for of thoughts from yours truly! :)
After all, what better way to glean insight, or drive readers even more crazy, than by posting my own personal (and sometimes silly) notes on each of my books? So, let’s get started!
Blue Moon
“What else is out there besides Werewolves? You mentioned pointed ears and stuff.”
“We’re not Werewolves, Ashley. They’re different. But there’s a lot, maybe even everything you’ve ever heard of in a fairy tale and then some. Elves, fae, ghosts, vampires, demons,” [Cade] shrugged. “The list goes on a good ways.”
Ashley took a deep breath, realizing that the pack hunting her wasn’t the only thing out there that could’ve killed her. It made her regret leaving home, and wish she could just have the job she’d taken in Atlanta and remain oblivious …
Author’s Thoughts:
• This story is largely an introduction into the series that might’ve taken me several years to complete.
• A poodle, Martin? Really?
• Leave it to Isaac to bring up lube and foreplay in the middle of a fight.
• What’s with that weird middle name there, Ulric? Note to self; explain in future book.
• Kind of sad I never got around to doing that prequel novella for Nicole and Mike!
• Operation: Mixed Breed has probably been used by Hunter’s Moon at some point since this story.
Light of Dawn
“I wish you knew more. I just can’t believe there’s this whole supernatural world out there and now I’m finding out I’m possibly a part of it, but can’t ask what that means.”
“Not possibly,” Ulric corrected. “You are, and it just means you’re unique from other humans.”
“What’s the good in being unique if it makes you a target?” Charlotte grumbled. “You know, if that’s why vampires are after me, and they’d killed me, I never would’ve even known it …
Author’s Thoughts:
• We should all be able to control our own fertility. Just sayin’.
• Isadora needs some lovin’ ASAP.
• Remind me never to shake Chandra’s hand in a deal.
• Ulric’s right. Mages probably do come up with ideas while hitting a pipe.
• When draconians go into Wrath, they get horny. Rimshot.
• Don’t worry, Isaac. You’ll find her soon. But not for another three books and nearly a year’s worth of timeline. *maniacal author laughter*
[image error]
Strange Brew
When [Aislinn] was fifteen, she’d sneaked off to break into the mansion [at Braddock’s Estate] and see if she couldn’t conjure any spirits of past residents to try solving a local mystery about the disappearance of the previous owner, Abraham Braddock. But she didn’t get very far before Helen caught her.
Her aunt was livid as well, and not because Aislinn had sneaked out late at night to go to a potentially dangerous place. Instead, Helen had argued You don’t conjure the dead without aid! That’s like giving a cat a bath by yourself. Some spirits are friendly enough to let you, but most are just gonna get pissed and try to hurt you.
Author’s Thoughts:
• I really need to write a story about ghosts sometime. Maybe Annika’s story?
• The method of putting out penis-shaped candles is fucking hilarious.
• I wonder if Heather and Joe would hit it off … hmm … YA Novel?
• Limbo is really weird.
• O’where, o’where has Derick gone, o’where, o’where could he be?
• I wonder what secrets Lydia uncovered while she was floating around in Limbo … ?
Fallen Hearts
” […] I’m going to advocate your petition to start a new Vampire Order to The Crucible. You’ve both made good points about the way your kind govern themselves here, and I believe your request will be granted, provided you can obtain the proper backing.”
Hearing this, Maddox let a relieved sigh. “Thank you, Ardilon.”
Author’s Thoughts:
• Mathias got swag.
• The Dead God? What’s up with that nickname, Ardilon?
• Kivsey? WTF Y U LEAVE ME!? D:
• Wait … Heliger? What the hell are you doing over there?
• I guess Giroux got ahead of himself heh heh.
• So that’s why Lillian did the ritual there … welp.
• The nut fairy should be a real thing. I don’t know why. It just should.
The Final Calling
““I do know the answer to another question you’ve asked.”
“What question?”
As if the City of Magic had something to do with his response, Arias looked out at the towering, marble spires raising toward the sky, then focused on her and smiled.
“He has never forgotten you.”
It was a completely simple, yet entirely cryptic response, but Chandra’s gut clenched regardless. Thankfully, centuries of hiding her emotions— or suppressing them with magic— allowed her to mask the reaction and ask indifferently, “He? Who might that be?”
“Perhaps we’ll meet again when you find out … ”
Author’s Thoughts:
• No, seriously, Arias, who the FUCK are you talking about? D:
• Dra’Kai is a boss.
• What is the difference between a fairy and a sprite? =\
• Not sure what’s weirder; Arias’ and Ardilon’s apparent feud, or Arias and Ardilon themselves.
• Rothario has a nose for trouble. Or he used to … :D
• No, seriously, Dra’Kai is a boss.
Hunter’s Moon
“Ever since high school, it’s just been one bad date after another.”
“Why high school? Have a lot of boyfriends?”
“Nope, just one, Eric Sullivan. He was really nice, a born warlock actually. Caleb used to call him string bean because he was so tall and skinny.”
Sara snickered at the memory, yet her expression turned solemn when she related, “But he moved away, so … ”
Author’s Thoughts:
