Diffuse vs. defuse

Going through my beta-reader’s notes, I noticed her question about how I wrote about the hero needing to dial-down a tense situation. In that case, do you “defuse” the situation or “diffuse” the situation?

Perennial life-saver Mignon Foggarty, aka The Grammar Girl, saves the day with her tips on diffuse vs. defuse.

A Crazy Homecoming Teaser

Daphne, of course, did not sleep tight. She would’ve liked to say it was the near brawl with Sissy that had her all revved up, but her ability to compartmentalize her feelings had worn down since she came to Crazy. All she could think about as she lay in the dark alone was getting her hands, and mouth and anything else that’d fit, back on Mick.

Somehow that arrogant cowboy had wormed his way into her heart, or at least into her hormones. She never would’ve guessed this about herself. Talk about not her type. Then again, she figured that could’ve changed about her, too.

Over the last few weeks she’d been slowly coming to terms with how important the ranch was to her; how it, too, had worked its way into her heart and become woven into the fabric of her very dreams. Though she came here intending it as a waypoint until she figured out a new direction, now she couldn’t imagine wanting to leave this place.

Well, hell.

Now that she’d accepted her place was here at Nana’s ranch, she was going to have to figure out how the sexy, enigmatic foreman fit into the picture.

A Crazy Homecoming will be out in August–stay tuned!

It always helps to have a companion by your side. Or, as in Toby’s case tonight, ON your side.

Nostalgic novel fodder

Here’s a song featured in the next book I’m writing. Totally reminds me of driving around the backroads of Texas with Daddy when I was a little girl. This was our favorite tune.
