HEA & Reviews

As we all know, being an Indie author is a tough gig. If you have read the book, SAVE, please leave your review on Amazon. It would mean the world to me!

That being said…I am heading to the world where HEA began…Disney World.

I have my Kindle loaded with my favorites…Jasinda Wilder, Jessica Sorensen, and Cheryl McIntyre…just to name a few. I’m so excited to read! I haven’t been able to do that often lately!

I wish everyone an AWESOME week!

~Ella

Thanks!

An interesting question was posed many times this past month. Why?

Many people have asked why I am doing what I’m doing. People said that I look tired. They have said that I am putting in more work and time than what I am getting back.

Many people have said that I have a good job. Why would I possibly take on more?

Truth is…I love the connection I have made with everyone from readers to bloggers to fellow aspiring Indie authors.

Although the process and experience is frightening, I am emotionally invested in my stories.  I appreciate every comment, review and critique.

I love how my readers see my characters as people and keep them in their thoughts. The process is highly interactive. And…I love it.

I’m appreciative of every person who has downloaded, SAVE.  I’m thankful of every reader who has pushed me to finish BROKEN. I am in awe of the bloggers who have helped create a buzz about the book. I’m indebted to the BETAs who volunteered to help me.

As for my personal connections…you know who you are, I am so happy that I have you as my cheerleaders.

THANK YOU!

Teaser of the Teaser for BROKEN

Hey Everyone:
I've decided to release a teaser of the teaser. I'm inviting you in to Eric's past. I hope you like it! ~Ella

~I hear her scream. My feet hit the floor and I snatch my bat from under my bed. Running to their bedroom, I hear the first crash. The sound is deafening. The second crash ignites the fight in me.

My body pummels through the door. My mom is screaming, trying to fight him off. I freeze for a second taking in the chaotic scene. I see him over her fighting to get between her legs. She tries to kick, punch, bite, and scream but her attempts are useless. The sight of my mom being assaulted in such a vile way paralyzes me. I’ve seen him hurt my mom a million times. But, this image is more than a fourteen-year-old kid can handle.

The bat makes my palms sweat. It feels so damn heavy. She screams again, this time breaking through my paralysis. I use every horrific image I’ve seen day after day and turn it in to strength. I yank him back by the collar. Fuck, he is strong. Again, I keep the pictures of bruises, cuts, and sorrow on replay in my head. This time, when I pull him, he falls to ground. My mom jumps from the bed and scrambles for the phone on the night table.

The bat doesn’t feel as heavy anymore. I just want to swing. So, I do. As hard as I can, I bring the bat down across his stomach in attempt to weaken him. It works. Just one stronger blow and he’ll be out. I lift the bat above my head and with all my might try to bring it down to the same spot I hit before.

The bat misses its target. The bastard grabs the bat and he is on his feet. I hear my mom in the background on the phone with the 911 operator. It’s too late. The first swing hits my right arm. Fuck, that hurt. He swings again hitting the same spot. I hear a snap and immediately feel a sharp, searing pain.

I crumble to the ground screaming while holding the injured arm. My eyes are blurry from the water welling behind my them. Through the blur, I can see the bat heading for my good arm. I turn my shoulder to brace myself against the blow.He delivers strike after strike, but I refuse to give in to the pain. Instead, I listen for the sirens. They are coming. Thank god, they are coming.~

BROKEN TEASER-Coming Soon

Hey Everyone:

SAVE is still going strong….thanks to you. My twitter followers…bloggers…and Goodreaders have really done an outstanding job spreading the love. Many thanks to you!

I have listened to you…many of you felt that SAVE was rushed and you wanted more. I promise…BROKEN will not let you down. The story really digs deep in to Eric’s background as well as Lena’s background. I will have a teaser coming very soon. Before I do, I wanted to make sure I have an editor for my work. Thank goodness, I do!

SAVE is raw. I did not have an editor this time around. You have been so kind by not pointing out the huge mistakes I have found, after the fact.

Again, please look for BROKEN’s teaser in about a week.

Love,

~Ella

Bree’s Abuse

I have been getting more and more emails about personal stories of abuse. They all have been…just amazing to read. I can’t tell you what it means to me that you are sharing your stories with me. You are all so brave and strong. I’m so happy that you enjoyed Bree and Josh’s story of love and hope. I wish the same for all of you.

That being said, the occasional email (1 or 2) comes in that is not so positive and not so nice. First, let me say, as I said in the emails, I am so sorry you have gone through such a hard time. SAVE, in no way, is meant to diminish your experiences of abuse. Also, I am not a counselor or therapist. Bree’s story is fictional. I’m sorry for your struggles. I wish you the best.

Bree’s story is not about her pain. It’s about moving on. It’s about living life without fear. It’s about taking the chance of falling in love. This is why I love Bree.

Another issue is the lack of birth control in the story. Well…Bree and Josh did not use it.  I’m not one to judge anyone on their decisions. I’m not condoning or promoting unsafe sex. However, I will never judge anyone’s decisions they make in their personal lives. It’s not my place to do so.

I want to thank all of the readers that have promoted my book. You have been freaking awesome! I couldn’t be happier!

Love,

~Ella

What the heck have I been up to?

Hi Everyone:

First, I want to take a moment to thank the fan mail I have received. Your stories are inspirational. It takes a strong person to reach out and tell their own life stories. This has been the best part of the process of writing SAVE…knowing that I wrote something that…in some way…has helped you. You have helped me too.

Between answering emails and trying to promote SAVE, I have been working on finishing BROKEN. It is coming along…it’s a little darker than SAVE…but I think the reader needs to see Eric and Lena’s past to understand their struggles. I have to admit…there are parts where I get so emotional that I have to stop to catch a breather. Again, BROKEN is set to be released mid to late October.

Many of you have emailed me asking me about where I live, if I am married, do I have children? I will post my bio very soon.

Last but not least, some of you have asked if I would do an interview for your blog sites. Absolutely. Just send the info to col.ella@yahoo.com. Please let me know when you need the information.

Weekend Update & Author Signing

Dear Friends:

I just want to say..I had an amazing day yesterday. I had the opportunity to meet all of the authors that have inspired me to do what I do. I’m in love with Jessica Sorensen and Jasinda Wilder. Both authors are so down to earth and sweet.

After visiting with the authors, I went site seeing with my best friends. Let me tell you, New York City is such a good time. I live somewhat close by but rarely get the opportunity to visit. Having the experience with my sisters from another mister made the experience well…EPIC. I hate using that word but it serves the purpose here :)  The pictures posted are from the 911 memorial site. Wow…such an emotional, beautiful experience to see this in person.

I see that SAVE is still doing amazing! My reviews on Amazon have been unbelievable including Amazon’s UK site and CA site. My reviews on Goodreads have been honest and informative…some amazing…some that will keep me working to improve my writing.

Eric and Lena’s story, Broken, is well on its way. I know you all will enjoy it when it is released.

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments, honest reviews, friend requests, private messages, and overall support.

To those who have contacted me because SAVE has touched you because it hits home on a personal level….you are strong, amazing people. Thank you for sharing your personal stories with me.

I think I’ve covered everything!

Thanks again, ~Ella
