A Court of Thorns and Roses by SarahJ.Maas: Review
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.
Cathrina's Review:
If you like to read YA speculative fiction about immortal's, faeries, shape shifters, and action, then you'll love A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Sarah J. Maas has written an intricate tale of dark wickedness interwoven with brilliance. The main character Feyre is strong and tenacious and is the mainstay of her impoverished family. While hunting for sustenance, she unwittingly kills a massive wolf, an immortal, shape-shifter fae. If you've read the wonderful blurb our author has written there's no need for me to repeat it.
I did get a tad bored as our tenacious Feyre settles down into a mundane existence while living in Tamlin's beautiful spring court. But continue to read because there is underlying intrigue which will be revealed. The climax and the end is exciting, harsh, and wasn't expected.
There is a sequel. But I haven't decided to read it as yet. I liked how this one ended. I did thumb through the second book and haven't decided to buy it, as yet.
There is one thing I must mention. A Court of Thorn and Roses is in the YA category on Amazon. However, the characters exchange in explicit love scenes. The mc is 19, and I feel this is a mature fantasy and should be in the New Adult category.

Prah, Constantine, Baryeh Review: Love Built to Last by Lisa Ricard Claro #romance
Can you believe we're in the month of October already! Our review team chooseLove Built to LastbyLisa Ricard ClaroI just have to say I'm in love with this cover.
LOVE BUILT TO LAST is a contemporary romance featuring two people who have suffered the pain of devastating loss, and must learn to love and trust again. Based on the award-winning short story, Fireflies, this novel is the first book in the Fireflies series.
She can’t let go of her dead husband . . .
Maddie Kinkaid believes her late husband, Jack, gives her advice on everything from ordering a pizza to hiring a carpenter, so when she finds Caleb Walker’s business card on Jack’s desk, she’s convinced that he’s the guy to remodel her kitchen.
He can’t decide if she’s worth the risk . . .
Caleb is a single father, and protecting his young son means avoiding romantic entanglements. But there’s heat in every kitchen, and sparks ignite between Caleb and Maddie—until disaster strikes.
As Jack goes silent and Maddie’s guilt consumes her, it looks like Caleb and Maddie will never find their happily-ever-after—at least, not without a little help from Jack . . .
Cathrina's Review:
Have you ever read a book that hit home at a certain time in your life? Well, LOVE BUILT TO LAST was a homeroom read for me.
When the reader finds themselves immersed in the story it's the sign of a fantastic author. Lisa Ricard Claro has penned a sweet, full of life and sorrows of death in this well rounded romance.
I was immediately enamored with the main character, Maddie. And the strongly built carpenter, Caleb Walker took my breath away in more ways than one. Caleb's fatherly love for his young son was the cherry on top of this novel.
The sensuous passages were nicely written, just enough to boil your blood. I liked that this particular romance did not get into the nitty-gritty of explicit sex, their lovemaking was behind closed doors.
If you're looking for an excellent, sweet read, may I suggest

October 5th Question: When do you know your story is ready?
My problem is ~ I never feel my books are ready.
I recently finished my second draft of a new manuscript, and it goes to a wonderful editor November 1. I have time for a third draft and possibly a fourth, but I won't be satisfied.
Even after I send it to my publisher for the final formatting process, I have reservations.Usually to combat my neurotic self, I begin writing a new story.
How about you? When do you feel your story is truly ready?

I celebrated my wedding anniversary this week. We went out to dinner to one of my favorite cozy restaurants.
We have a wedding to attend this Saturday, and I plan on dancing, if my sore knees will let me.
I can't believe how quickly September is passing us by, but I've always loved the month of October. It's sights, and smells, and crisp air. Enjoy.

Prah, Constantine & Baryeh Review #romance COVER REVEAL: SELF-HELP 101 series. Book 3 by LG. Keltner
This month the review team pickedHot PursuitbyLynn Raye
He was the last man in the world she wanted to see…but he might be the only one who could save her…
Ten years ago, Matt Girard did something he shouldn’t. When sweet Evangeline Baker offered him her virginity, he took it. Then he left town and he’s never looked back.
Until now. His future as a black ops soldier with the Hostile Operations Team is in jeopardy, and he’s come home for a few days before going back to face the consequences of a mission gone wrong.
Matt still makes Evie’s heart pound, but she wants nothing to do with him. She’s had enough of men who lie and promise things they don’t deliver. But when her sister goes missing and her ex-boyfriend turns up dead, she’s in need of Matt’s special military skills.
With time running out, Matt will put everything on the line to protect Evie and find her sister. Even if it means sacrificing all he’s worked for with HOT. Sometimes, the reward is worth the price. Especially when it’s the one woman he can’t forget…
Cathrina's Review:
I was hooked from the first chapter since it was full of special ops intrigue. As is my review policy, I rarely repeat the wonderful blurb the author wrote for us.
I fell for the hot bodied and well equipped Matt instantly. I was upset how badly he treated Evie when he was seventeen. In fact, I wanted to kick him in the ass, more than once, for her when he returned home.
Since Matt entered the black ops unit after high school, Evie took a lot of battle flack from the other hometown kids. However, instead of making her vulnerable and weak, it strengthened her.
Evie would do anything to save her younger sister who goes missing, even teaming up with the boy who shamed her. As the story progresses, Matt and Evie's passions rise to the surface as they conspire to bring her sister home.
Hot Pursuit is a good title for the book with action, deceit, intrigue, and steaming scenes mixed in for good measure.
Now head over to Nana Prah, and Empi Baryeh to read their reviews.
Now Here's L.G. Keltner's New Book: Self-Help 101 Coming September 27th!!
Title: Self-Help 101 or: How to Select a Costume to Help You Deal With PeopleAuthor: L.G. KeltnerGenre: holiday/humorLength: 29,000 wordsCover Art: L.G. Keltner and Jamon WalkerRelease Date: September 27, 2016
Blurb:
Book 3 in the Self-Help 101 series.
Dani Finklemeier is adjusting to life in college and the realities of living away from home for the first time. She’s also learning to deal with the criticism that stems from sharing her writing with the world. Some of the online criticism is even spelled correctly, which somehow makes it worse.
Fortunately, she has a Halloween party, a group of friends, and a supportive boyfriend to distract her from the things that are bothering her. Of course, a holiday celebration wouldn’t be complete without something going wrong. Between an unpleasant confrontation with an infuriating classmate, some shocking costume choices, and a bizarre fraternity stunt, the evening will be anything but dull.
Dani’s detractors may not like it, but she’ll definitely have enough material for another book.
Bio:
L.G. Keltner spends most of her time trying to write while also cleaning up after her crazy but wonderful kids and hanging out with her husband. Her favorite genre of all time is science fiction, and she’s been trying to write novels since the age of six. Needless to say, those earliest attempts weren’t all that good.
Her non-writing hobbies include astronomy and playing Trivial Pursuit.
You can typically find L.G. lurking around her blog, on Twitter, or on her Facebook page.
