when you write do you envision your target market?

Picture I speak to a lot of business owners and when I ask them this question, no is the common answer.  Should I?  Umm well yes, doesn’t it make sense?  If you don’t know who your target audience is, how can you write something which would be of interest or relevance to them?

Think about it.  Once you sit down to analyse who your audience is, your posts will resonate with your target audience on a deeper level and become more pertinent and compelling.

Take some time to think about who it is you are trying to attract.  Is it someone in a similar field?  Your customers?  Your clients?  Mothers?  Writers?  Who are you attempting to relate to?

5 tips to improve your proofreading

Picture It doesn’t matter who you are, it is possible to read the same passage over and over again and not see an error that is glaringly obvious to someone else as soon as they lay their eyes on it.  Why?  Our brains work in mysterious ways but quite often they choose to see what we think is written on the page and not what is actually there.

So here are 5 of my top tips to help proofread your own written work.

is crowdfunding for you?

Picture Crowdfunding seems to be the new buzz word when it comes to fundraising a new business idea or business venture.  Have you crossed paths with it yet?  Chances are that someone you know has mentioned a friend or a colleague who is crowdfunding their latest venture and shared it for all to see.  After all social media is a powerful tool and works well to spread the crowdfunding message.

Whether you are unfamiliar with the variety of crowdfunding websites available, have heard of it but never thought it could or would relate to you, or want to know a little bit more information before you commit to such an unorthodox approach, then take note.  Crowdfunding websites are definitely here to stay and should be utilised as much as possible to your advantage regardless of your industry.

BETTER BookKeeping

Picture Admittedly bookkeeping is not one of my favourite aspects of business and it is one that I would quite happily outsource in a heartbeat.  Words, rather than number are my specialty, just ask my husband as I regularly forget important dates and telephone numbers which might otherwise have been useful on a number of occasions.

For those that process their books in-house, there are ways in which you can improve your bookkeeping habits and save you money.  After all more money in your pocket is better for your business, right?

do you pay for your social media?

Picture For those who have been working with Facebook in terms of their social media for a lengthy period of time, you will know that at one point all was relatively good with your likes and insights and then over time there was a noticeable reduction in the amount of organic distribution.  Frustrating right?  What this essentially means for current day Facebook users is that business posts which are not sponsored or promoted will now be seen by only a small percentage of your fan base.

Is LinkedIn being neglected as a social media platform for business?

Picture LinkedIn is one of many social networking sites I visit on a daily basis however whenever I view the profiles of my contacts, it is clearly noticeable that it is being neglected by those who use it.  And there seems also to be a clear disparity between the number of people who use LinkedIn and those who use Facebook - more opting for the latter.

LinkedIn is clearly set up for those in professional industries, therefore it is an ideal tool for new and small businesses looking to build on their brand awareness and reputation.  Connecting with those you have worked with previously and those you wish to work with in the future is a great way to expand on and develop your contacts.  It allows you to network with those in your industry wherever they are located in the world and keeps you up to date with what is happening in your field.
