Skye’s Show Stopping Guacamole
If you’re like me, you love avacados. I could eat them plain (and do quite regularly.) I slice them and add them to sandwiches and salads. But my absolute favorite is guacamole!
Today, after punishing my kids and making them clean (I know, horrible mother. At least they thought so. I mean, how dare I make them clean the house when the sun was out and it was a gorgeous day! My 8 year old diva’s words.), I DID let them go outside and then we came in and made guacamole as a snack.
It was a hit and we, of course, made a giant batch, but that means more for me later when I watch some Netflix after their bedtime!
Here’s my recipe:
Ingredients:
5 good sized RIPE avacados, diced
1 small purple onion, finely chopped
2 TB Lemon OR lime juice (fresh is best, but in a pinch, use bottled)
1 TB garlic powder
1 TSP dried Chipoltle (skip if you don’t care for it)
1 TB chopped fresh cilantro (1/2 TB dried)
Sea salt to taste
Fresh ground pepper to taste
***No one in my house cares for tomatoes, so I do NOT add them, but if you like them, finely chop a small Roma or whatever you like and add them.
Diced avacado (The diva wanted to point themout.)
Directions:
Dice avacados and chop onions. Add them to a large bowl.
Add other ingredients. Stir, stir, stir.
Taste.
Adjust salt and pepper to your liking.
***We like chunky avacados, so I do not really mash them, but if you like smooth and creamy guacamole, mash away.
Can serve immediately or refrigerate overnight for the flavors to meld together.
*Bet you can’t wait to devour it. It’s really THAT good.

Today is the “Official” Release Day for James Black, my brand new Adult Romance novel. This book also falls into the Romantic Suspense category and reader response has been absolutely amazing.
James Black is a very different book from my previous series, Bayou Stix. It’s darker and covers really complex and uncomfortable topics. It’s not to be mistaken for a dark erotic romance though, because… it is not.

This story had me from the prologue. I needed to know more about James Black. I had a feeling he had a story to tell, but I had no clue how emotional it was.
I knew I would love AJ as soon as I met her! She was a spitfire, and she took no crap from anyone. My kind of girl;) I like how she wasn’t all starstruck when it came to James. Sure, she knew he was HOT (and I mean HAWT), but she “tried” to keep it professional.
There were so many laugh out loud moments! Skye Turner has a brilliant way of bringing humor into a story. The banter between AJ and James was great!
She also has a way of writing some mighty, steamy scenes. Grab a fan and cold drink…you’re going to need it! I mean, WHOA! Brings new meaning to the phrase “Baby, you can drive my car.” Lawdy mercy!

I have just finished James Black and I had to take a minute to sit there and just absorb all that I’d read. You took me on a ride, Mrs. Turner. When I shut the Kindle, I had to sit in silence for a bit to just soak in the absolute beauty of your words.
I don’t know what I was expecting with James Black, but to say you delivered far more than I imagined possible is a gross understatement. This book just moved me. I felt every single emotion and I loved and hurt along with the characters. It takes a great amount of heart and an even greater amount of talent to write a story so compelling you get lost in it. You have done that with every one of your books, but James Black, I honestly have no words to express how unbelievably brilliant this book is. Well done Mrs. Turner and you have a fan for life.

I’ve been married to my love, James, for 10 years this October. We have 2 beautiful babies. A diva, 7, and a little man, 5. My little man has a congenital heart defect, but is a blessing a miracle who doesn’t even know he’s sick for the most part.
I attended Southeastern Louisiana University where I majored in Mass Communication, centering my studies on Broadcast/ Print Journalism. Unfortunately, life intervened and I never finished my studies, tough I only have about 15 hours left.
Writing is something I’ve always done, though I never imagined I’d write for the masses to read and make a career out of it.

RELEASE DAY! Alluring Surrender. Excerpt and Links.
Today is the RELEASE DAY for Alluring Surrender, Book 5 Bayou Stix. This is the last book of the Bayou Stix Series. Bayou Stix is a band and every book is based on a different member of the band. All can be read as standalones, with the exception of the novella (novella is only to be read after reading Alluring Turmoil, Book 1 Bayou Stix and Alluring Surrender, Book 2 Bayou Stix), but it is recommended that you read the series in order as each character is in each book and though each book focuses on a new couple, the previous couples stories are continued as well.

I turn to watch Cruz approach. The fact that heads turn as he passes, both male and female, is not lost on me. My stomach does flips. He sees me at the table and stops for a second. My heart drops, but then he smiles at me and the breath whooshes out of my chest. Thank God I’m sitting down because I’d collapse from the power of that smile. Dear God!
Erik arrives at the table at the same time with a tray of coffees. He passes them out and pulls out a chair. Cruz sees my monster-sized coffee and says, “Do we need a coffee intervention here?”
Taking a sip I let out a moan as it hits the back of my tongue. That is seriously like heaven. The coffee with the sweetness of the caramel and apple and then the creamy whipped cream… It should be illegal.
Cruz smirks slightly at my reaction, though his eyes are wide and I see him watch me swallow. I lick my lips and he follows the trail with his eyes. He asks, “I guess that’s good?”
I nod and hold my cup out. “It’s divine. Try it.”
I’m daring him and I’ve forgotten that anyone else is even in the room. He stares at me and I see his light eyes darken as he covers my hand with his and guides the cup to his mouth. He takes a sip in the same spot as I just drank from.
Suddenly butterflies are dancing in my stomach and I feel like I just went over the drop on a rollercoaster. I gasp as I watch him swallow. He has a tiny bit of whipped cream on the side of his mouth and I just want to lick it off. He pops his lips and wipes the side of his mouth before sucking the tiny bit of whipped cream off. Staring into my eyes, he says, “Yes, that is definitely good. Thanks for letting me sample your treat, Tif.”
My mouth hangs open and the only thing that wakes me from my trance is the light coughing behind me. Shaking my head, I turn and see Dade, Melonie, and Erik all staring at us with wonder on their faces. I have no idea who even just coughed.
Mel is looking from me to Cruz in glee and Dade is trying to hide a smirk. He says, “Well, I’ll be damned…”

The Day I Finally Felt Like an “Author.” RELEASE WEEK: ALLURING SURRENDER: DAY 4.
The Day I Finally “Felt” Like I Was an Author

About seventeen months ago, I started on this journey called self-publishing. One day in the summer of 2013, while my husband was offshore and my kids were running around my house like crazy little people, I sat at my laptop and decided to get the ideas that were living in my head… out.
I wrote like a person possessed that day. I think I wrote something like nine thousand words. It was like now that I was finally allowing the voices in my head to talk, they had so much to say.
My first book was written in ten days. I worked literally twenty to twenty-two hours a day. I didn’t sleep, I think I might have showered a time or two, but ten days later… I was done. My first book, Alluring Turmoil, the beginning of Bayou Stix, was written.
That was step one. I used to think that people wrote books and then people read them. I was so green. I literally had no idea what I was getting into, but I decided that if I was going to do it, I was going to do it like everything else in my life and do it big.
I researched cover designers and editors (though I was an editor). I thought I was going to format the book myself, but after countless YouTube videos, tears, and almost throwing my laptop across the room, I asked some friends for someone to rescue me from formatting hell, and got the name of my formatter.
I worked on Alluring Turmoil for months… writing, revising, editing, revising again, allowing betas to read it, talking to my cover designer, working with my editor, then formatting…
I reached out to so many people that I’d followed and admired and I promoted myself and my work. I did all of this for MONTHS before I ever published.
Then, it was time… time to push the button and release my book into the world. Feedback had been pretty good from people who’d received ARC’s. Certain blogs told me I stunk and that I shouldn’t release and they were sorry, but they couldn’t recommend the book. That stung, but I pushed on. I submitted the book to be published… and then I waited. I was a nervous wreck and I had this extreme urge to vomit or curl up into the fetal position in the corner, but I did it…
Alluring Turmoil went “Live” on September 11, 2013 (two days before it was supposed to). I didn’t know anything, but I started checking the sales numbers… holy smoke… people were buying my book. I think I did vomit at one point from the nerves and stress.
By September 12, 2013 I was receiving feedback… people for the most part LIKED my book… I couldn’t help but think this was some sort of cosmic joke. I mean people I’d looked up to and read everything they produced, were now reading MY work. WHAT?! This was crazy. I’m just a wife and mommy with a dream from Smalltown, Louisiana. I was a tiny blip in the big world of authors.
The messages and reviews started coming in and while most were good, there were some bad, those hurt at first… as time went on, I realized… wow, I need to write another book.
So, I did. And then, I wrote four more. The conclusion to the Bayou Stix series comes out this Friday, November 21. But the truth is… now seventeen months into this, I think I finally feel like an author.
I wake up every day and think to myself… I write books. I entertain people. I involve people in my stories. People travel to events to meet me and express their joy from my work. I receive messages from all over the world and every single day, I pinch myself and grin.
That is surreal. I’ve written six books in seventeen months. I generally produce new material every ninety days… but until recently I’ve never thought of myself as an author…
I do now and trust me… it’s the best feeling.

Release Week! Alluring Surrender’s Playlist
Nothing is better than music, right!?
My debut series, Bayou Stix, is about the band Bayou Stix. The characters are musicians, but the books are more about the people in the band over the actual band. There are band things covered, but I focus more on the people and less on the act in my books.
Why did I choose to make my characters musicians? Well, because I love music. It’s something I’ve always loved. Music is one of the most amazing things on the planet. Music has the innate ability to invoke emotion. It can alter your mood with only the beat of the bass and the lyrics of the songs. It’s almost mystical and if you think about it… it’s magical.
Every book of mine has a Playlist for this reason. When you listen BEFORE you read, it gives you some insight into what might happen in the book. It keeps you guessing. When you listen AFTER you read the books, you can relate certain songs to specific situations in the book.
