Laughing Falcon

At first I thought it was an osprey. Much smaller, though. I heard one of these at sunset and they certainly earn their common name with that remarkable call.

Masked Tityra

I didn’t know what I was looking at, but I knew it was special. Masked Tityra. Now that I’ve seen it in writing, I’m going to hold off on saying it out loud until I hear someone else pronounce it. Because is it “titty-raw,” or the more pretentious “tit-tie-rah?”
