HAPPY ONAM!

Part-1 For the past fifteen to twenty years the people of Kerala, in celebrating Onam, have switched from their land and courtyard to their sofas and settees. I am no different.
By ‘land and courtyard’, I mean the way we used to occupy ourselves during this festival. Kinds running around in fields surrounding the household for flowers and spreading floral carpet on the courtyard are a few of those memories. It was great fun in the country than in the city back then. Onam was mostly an occasion...

INDEPENDENCE DAY: What Do We Give Others?

Part 2

I would say it's a lack of true vision that makes these contemporary critics of this once great nation babble about status quo when a majority of people die of lack of food and violence committed on the streets. Let's face the reality. None of us, including this humble author, is not talking about what really matters. Within the Indian geo-political context the term ‘independence’ has a different significance now than that it previously had, say ten years back. India...

The previous week, I announced in my Facebook page that I would be regular on my blog, this week onward. I had nothing that I felt suitable to share with my reader after a short hiatus. The pressure mounted from that moment in Facebook. There are several reasons for my silence in blogosphere. The real question, however, is if it matters at all.
Blogging has apparently lost its dynamic appeal for a long period of ti...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]></div>

THE BOY WHO LOVED STORIES AND THE DARK LADY OF BLOGGING

Blogging came to exist in my consciousness since a controversial young lady made news headlines with her unbridled and exaggerated confessions about a sexually liberated life. Her fame or infamy (whichever way you look at it) was a very profound a cultural experience, even for that small period of time.
To this day, not another blogger has been able to outshine the licentious narrative of the confessing young woman in page views. She was also the pinnacle of cross references that appeared in...

ANIMAL FARM: A Liberal Review

AbrahamMaslow's pyramidal representation of the possibilities a human being is capable of in a self-actualized model of living came to my mind as I observed the events in the story of the Animal Farm and its animals. Strangely, the concept of self-actualization is not precisely associated with George Orwell's Animal Farm. Animal Farm is a political allegory. It unveils and analyzes the impacts of an authoritarian society. The characters in this book include both the subjects and subjugators....
