Red Kite

My beautiful friend Carol took us to a Red Kite feeding station near Laurieston. My iPhobe camera wasn’t really up to the task but I was quite pleased with this shot.

Did you know lavender was used as an antiseptic during World War One? See what other properties this wonderful plant has in Pagan Pages’ Apothecary this month. Click the Picture.

Politics for the People

I was really moved by MP Mhairi Black’s maiden speech in the House of Commons. If you haven’t yet heard it, please go take a listen. She joins Jeremy Corbyn as one of the few MPs that are addressing the fact that our current government does not speak for the majority of the people in the UK. She hits every nail on the head, and I can only hope that these nails hammer hard into the coffin of our outdated, archaic government.

Post Solstice Blues

The longest day

Was wild

Was fun

With number one

My precious son

Who charms

And smiles

And plays

And whiles

Away the day

That stretches

Until the very fabric

Of dusk is

Thin

Like ancient parchment

On which is scribed

The secrets of

The universe

Then waking post solstice:

Rain and gloom and

Fog and doom and

Mundane madness

Mot, plug faulty,

Purse empty

Child grumpy

Bed lumpy; weak cup of tea…

A headache grows

And blows the beauty

Out of mind

But stay, and pray;

What is that stray

Beam of beauty

Falling through my curtain?

Lugh’s promise: Balor’s gaze.

A vow of brighter days.

I smile, and blues are fading

In the haze.
