Astrology and Energies of July

What, it's July already?! Well bring on this rare month with 3 lunar configurations and the themes of JOY and relaxation.
We start the month with a Capricorn Full Moon on July 1; a Cancer New Moon arrives July 15, and we end the month with an Aquarius Full Moon on July 31. And it's a good idea to make room in your summer for FUN and PLAY as Jupiter and Venus make a conjunction in Leo the first week of the month.
3 planets are currently retrograde - Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto - and on July 25 and 26, we see Venus and Uranus turn retrograde, too. 5 planets in retrograde signals that we're doing some winding down this month and turning inwards for a good 6 weeks. I'll share more in the show!

Summer Solstice Intentions
The Summer Solstice (in the northern hemisphere) holds the highest amount of light of the year. We are flooded with light rays that promote warmth, illumination, openness, abundance, and connection. It is a powerful point in the year as we look at how much has evolved and changed since the Winter Solstice of December 21. In the past 6 months, what parts of you are ready to emerge and be shared from the heart?
(To our friends in the southern hemisphere, this energy is obviously the opposite for you as this weekend's Winter Solstice invites you to go within for reflection, growth, and trusting your intuition more. Gotta love how the earth is always in balance!)
Astrologically, the Sun enters the sign of Cancer on this day, shifting us from the mental, inquisitive, busy-ness energy of Gemini into the nurturing, intuitive, and feeling energy of our hearts. Cancer energy initiates new areas of growth in ourselves as we tune into our true inner needs and how we feel safe and supported in the world. Gemini activated our throat chakra; Cancer now highlights our heart chakra and how this energy can guide us forward into new areas of life that are meaningful.
The Summer Solstice initiates a 3 month energy imprint which lasts until the Autumn Equinox in September.
Highlights of the upcoming three months include a lot of reflection, inner work, review, and re-prioritizing our values:
- 3 outer planets are retrograde at this time (Saturn, Neptune, Pluto), and Uranus and Venus will join them in retrograde the end of July. 5 planets in retrograde is unique and signifies the importance of our inner Selves, re-alignment, and trusting our inner needs this summer. On some level, things may feel 'quieter' outside as you want to be in your own space and place more than usual.
- Follow the fun! Focus on what brings you joy, peace, and pleasure this summer as Venus and Jupiter in Leo approach conjunction and inspire you to just kick back and RELAX. Go PLAY, spend long days at the beach, make time for doing nothing, which is what you may feel like experiencing at times! This is huge inner child energy, so follow your inspirations and love it.
- Mercury and Mars are still in Gemini, so there are tasks to be done and choices to be made. Travel is highlighted with this pairing, or you may feel the urge to enjoy a "staycation" when Mars enters Cancer on June 26. Mercury will join him there July 8, and it may be summer of home projects and enhancing the garden.
- Saturn has moved back into Scorpio until the middle of September, so we have an opportunity to dive back into the depths of ourselves to finish up whatever we didn't quite see or complete last year. It's a bit like returning to the psychiatrist's couch and discovering more unconsciousness in your psyche. Something may come back around for you to approach from a different angle, or see in a new light, or help you claim your power in a new way.
- We get a breather until more big energies arrive in September (eclipse season) and many retrograde planets turn to go direct. September kicks off a new cycle of energy, so you may even want to delay some things until the fall - perfecto. Go with whatever helps you feel LIGHT and easy-breezy.
***We've been through a LOT in the past few years and this summer is the time to take a load off. Celebrate yourself and your journey. Enjoy your life, find time for simple pleasures, make your happiness a priority. If you don't do that, who will? :)

Plagiarism, Shadow Feminine Energies, and Higher Consciousness
Awhile ago, two spiritual experts who have been on Oprah, the NY Times Bestseller list, and who each have social media numbers in the hundreds of thousands plagiarized an email I wrote from an online event I hosted - using the same subject line, testimonials, feedback, and all - and claimed this information was from their event.
Since then, there has been an ongoing pattern of these behaviors occurring, and now is the perfect time to bring up this conversation topic, as well as to expose some of what really happens behind-the-scenes in the "spiritual industry" when billions of dollars, careers, and fame are all in play. You may even put down that cup of kool-aid you're drinking. :)
Plagiarism demonstrates Shadow Feminine energies which are sly, underground, and deceptive, preferring to work in the dark and hide behind something - a facade, an egoic self-identity, a deep fear, etc. It corresponds to how a person is actually not connected to their own LIGHT and feels the need to siphon off of those who are in alignment with themselves. Most people have examples of seeing this behavior in their own life - think of your workplace, family, school friends, or childhood experiences.
I believe our Soul brings us into these situations so we can activate greater Light, Integrity, and Truth for everyone involved, and ultimately, for the world. It’s easy to go into the mindset of who is right and who is wrong – which can be completely accurate! - but it’s also important to step back and see a higher spiritual understanding, which is that there is opportunity for growth for everyone in these situations. I decided to claim the growth in the situation for myself and not resort to anger, blame, or anything of a lower vibration. What can I do to grow in the best possible way?
And most importantly, you have the opportunity to re-connect to the spiritual wisdom that the Universe/God/Spirit has your back when you remain in your integrity, light, and making intentional choices that support your path.
I have some interesting behind-the-scenes stories to share with you about plagiarism and Shadow Feminine energies, as well as some higher perspectives around why individuals choose these types of behaviors. Everything is a teacher, yet we also become much smarter students along the way!

Let's Go To #Paris! New Guidebook Now Available

We never pursue a dream alone, and we never create something meaningful on our own.
Caché Paris: A Guidebook to Discover New Places, Hidden Spaces, and a Favorite Oasis has been in the works, off and on, for nearly 6 years now. And as it is finally released, there is one person whom I credit with being able to follow my heart and experience Paris as a local - my momma.
When I needed to buy a new American laptop while in Paris, she was able to expedite the process from home and send over the right computer that was compatible with my current digital stuff - things you don't think about until you're abroad!
When I was shipping my cats across the Atlantic, she was on the other side of the ocean making things happen and verifying that all of the dots (and meows) were being connected.
When I knew it was time to come home, she was that strong voice on the other side of the phone reminding me to trust myself and to trust that the decision was right.
And she was the beautiful face that visited me a few times in Paris, so we could explore the city together and enjoy every pastry shop we found ourselves in.
This book is dedicated to my amazing mom who, more than anyone, supported my dream of moving to Paris. It was her ongoing generosity, love, advice, and multiple visits to the City of Lights that I credit with a pivotal time in my life, and by consequence, the existence of this guidebook.

Astrology and Energies of June
We're approaching the middle of the year already - crazy-amazing! And in June, we are gifted with a different realm of energies to play with as we continue to create the most perfect lives for ourselves.
June brings us a stellar line-up of a Full Moon in Sagittarius, Mercury going direct mid-month, the Summer Solstice, and a powerful connection between Jupiter and Uranus that culiminates a 9-month transition phase. Plus I'll discuss a few more highlights of the month.
There is also a quieter, calmer energy in June under the surface - do you feel it? Prepare for beautiful pauses and then get ready to begin the second half of 2015 with a whole new box of crayons to play with (so to speak :).
