Desperate Pursuit in Rio de Janeiro Sequel to Desperate Pursuit in Venice

Desperate Pursuit in Rio de Janeiro-Coming Soon

In this thrilling sequel to Desperate Pursuit in Venice, Kataryna Taylor and Francesco Barone travel to Brazil to complete the due diligence for an acquisition, which could change how the most dreadful diseases in the world are treated. Plants grown in the rainforest of Brazil close to Colombia owned by a Brazilian company may offer a revolutionary treatment, which could catapult Kataryna’s company BioMedyca to the top and leave all other biomedical companies behind.

While Luca Romano desperately attempts to prevent Kataryna from taking this challenging and potentially dangerous trip, he realizes that she is determined to make this acquisition to bring a more natural treatment without the usual debilitating side effects of existing chemotherapy to the market.

Her and Francesco’s inexperience in this arena and in the rainforests of South America, however, call for the expertise of Roberto Silvestri whom Kataryna hires as a consultant despite the vile and life-threatening situation he caused for her and Luca a few months ago.

The still unresolved family secret is weighing heavy on Kataryna when she and Francesco take off on their business trip to Brazil.

While Kataryna and Luca plan their beautiful life together it is endangered by a complication no one saw coming. The Romano family is racing against the clock to save the lives of their loved ones and stop a powerful international group from carrying out its terrible mission.

MARSocial Author-of-the-Year Competition

On Jan 31, 2014 the Winner and the Runner-Ups of the MARSocial Author/Book/Film competition were announced.

I am happy to report that I was declared the winner of the above mentioned competition which was dubbed the Author's X-Factor.

It was a very unique competition and not just about writing. Sure, your book had to be good to enter and move forward but there was more to that competition including sharing/ tweeting the other authors' book excerpts altruistically and helping with a Kickstarter campaign for the feature film Disturbed currently filming in the UK.

Since marketing and promoting are the most important parts for successful book sales, this competition also included being able to write an effective press release and publish it in order to attract media attention. In addition, we had to show that we can obtain some kind of publicity, either a TV interview or write-up in a newspaper, magazine or online publication.
All in all, it was a most unique and pretty tough competition which moved many of the authors forward as they learned from their competitors how to generate publicity. A win-win.
It was a great exercise because that is what it's all about. Even the best book won't sell if no one knows about it. To get publicity in today's crowded book market is an accomplishment. I am proud of what my competitors achieved and good things are coming their way now. There will be more hard work ahead now that these authors experienced first hand how important successful promoting and marketing is and what can happen when you do it well.

The below YouTube link shows a video of the winner and runner-ups.

Happy promoting everyone and good luck.

MARSocial Author-of-the-Year Competition

I am a finalist in the MARSocial Author-of-the-Year competition. A different kind of competition.

At last a competition that is run by authors for the benefit of all authors involved in it. While authors compete against each other, they tweet and share the other authors’ excerpts in an extremely altruistic way. All of them have become close friends and supporters of each other thanks to MARSocial’s altruistic competition. To enter this competition authors simply had to post the most exciting excerpt from their book, (between 500 and 1,000 words and then tweet and re-tweet the excerpts via the Twitter button appearing at the end of each excerpt. MARSocial in conjunction with KeeranVaani Creations, an independent filmmaker from the UK, http://marsocial.com/2013/11/disturbe... will present the M.A.R.S. Author of the Year Award. The winner and the 20 runner-ups will be announced on February 1, 2014.

Follow my Board on Pinterest and read my CNNiReport for more details on this exciting and extremely altruistic competition.

Happy New Year-Update from Karynne Summars

Happy New Year to all my Friends and Followers,

In 2013 I published my first novel and joined a large author community, i.e. the World Literary Cafe and MARSocial. I never thought that fellow authors would support each other that much, so I was more than pleasantly surprised. Thanks for all your support.

While busy writing the sequel to Desperate Pursuit in Venice, I met and joined the independent filmmaker KeeranVaani Creations as Executive Producer for the movie DiSTurBeD, a psychological thriller/horror movie. While this was not on my plan for 2013, their passion and commitment convinced me to do so and has since widened my horizon for 2014.

Update for Sequel to Desperate Pursuit in Venice (DPIV)

Work in Progress: 36,700 words written so far. More emotional twists and turns for Luca, Kataryna, Roberto, Carlotta and Francesco. I have also introduced new interesting characters in the sequel. I know that I am a little behind because I had planned to publish the sequel around year-end but I have a good excuse- DiSTurBeD Movie.
Have a look: www.disturbedmovie.com

However, this gives you, the readers, some more time to finish or start reading DPIV.
Meanwhile here is an excerpt from Chapter Six of Desperate Pursuit in Venice for those who haven't read it yet. FYI: It has some adult content. This excerpt was published via MARSocial in connection with their Author of the Year Competition which I entered last year. http://marsocial.com/docs/desperate-p...

I have also recently entered a competition on LinkedIn. If you would like to support me, please follow the below link and click "Like" on LinkedIn.
Here is my link.

I wish you all the best, personally and professionally for 2014 and beyond.
