It was great fun, but greeted with much sadness as we had made so many good friends, ones we will keep in touch with.  Tara adopted Candy as a grandmother, which ticked Candy.  We loved Tara and Mark both, but there were so many wonderful people that we cannot wait until next year.

A sight to make an author's heart skip a beat - Author's Copies!  Montlake/Amazon Publishing did such a beautiful job with the production of the tradesize version of my book.  The highest quality paper and the covers feel like suede.  I cannot thank them enough for such beautiful copies!!

Out and about with Candy for Tea

The Sister Tea Room had a big sale on tea today, so naturally Candy Thompson and I put on our hats and indulged in their wonderful place.  They have the best scones!

Och, Dancing with Faeries and Kissing Men in Kilts!!

Candy Thompson ready to go to the Celtic Weekend at the Renfaire Saturday June 29, 2013.  We got rained out at the end, but we weathered several small storms to have a great day.  Candy nearly died from heart failure in January 2012, so to see her looking this beautiful is simply wonderful!

Candy in the King's Hall, enjoying a non-Medieval Diet Coke, with her feathered fan.  Those fans are life savers!!!  When the breeze dies down, you can create your own.  Supplied by the wonderful ladies at
THE FEATHER PLACE
one of the first booths you see when you enter (on the right).
Same place I bought my masque and chaplet the weekend before.
Prices are very reasonable.

(me with my fan and wearing my chaplet)

I was taught to do a FACEY with my new cell phone by Mia Seitz (Slappy's Wife) from the act Nuttin' But Mud.  And they MEAN that "MUD" part in their act.  I was also photo bombed by Dragon Dave.  Both terrible pictures of me, but all part of the fun.  The fish face close up doesn't flattering anyone, and I was just turning around to see what Dragon Bob was doing when Candy snapped it.  The odd shafts of sunlight coming directly into the camera didn't help.  Maybe that was Dragon Dave's Dragon Dust he talks about in his puppet show.  His show is amazing.  It's geared for little kids, but the adults love it, too.  It's puppets, but so much  more.  It teaches lessons in life and gives you a lot of Medieval history in the process.  That is Dragon Dave with the guitar.
Fool Hearty - a husband and wife team - relaxing between shows Higgins -- enough said!!

All in all...a fabulous weekend!!

strolling on the Courthouse lawn

Candy Thompson ( sister of the late Dawn Thompson) and I have have been out and about the past couple weeks.  We walk 3 miles nearly every morning, strolling through our Victorian town caught in the Twilight Zone of time.  In many ways, it's frozen in that period.  We have a lot of modern conveniences on the south side of time, but the North side is in this crystal bubble, preserving it.  On the strolls, we get the pleasure of studying the many Victorian era homes and appreciating the details of the stained glass windows, fish scales siding and wrap-around porches.  Many have porch swings.  I suppose that is what attracted me to settle here after the fire.  I knew this place had "healing" and peace in fiber.  People walk.  We meet a lot of residences moving about early in the morn.  They walk, power-walk, jog or ride bikes.  You even see some pushing baby strollers -- or as we did yesterday, one pushing a baby stroller with a pug dog in it!!!
The Quirkiness of the town is infections.  Everyone seems so happy here, so friendly!
(me in my pirate's hat photo by Candy)

Anyway -- first stop we did was the Farmers and Artisian Mart on the Courthouse lawn.  We love shopping there and supporting our local craftsmen - and women.  We got Scones from Q&A Treats, Honey from one farmer (makes supermarket honey look pathetic), fresh  eggs, cheeses - Capercaillie for me and Bleu Cheese for hubby),

and of course I bought a pair of lovely earrings from BT Beads.  Barbara, the owner, makes some of the prettiest earrings I have ever seen.
We have a lovely time, just strolling the old Court House lawn.  There are benches to sit, and just meeting all the people of the town is wonderful experience.
