New Alternate cover for Bird After Bird

If you’ve read the reviews of Bird After Bird, doubtlessly you got the point that there are a lot of birds in the book. Birds are part of nature and nature is the spiritual home for the two main characters.

For some folks, that was a turn off. For others, it was a delight. To each his own, right?

And since I’d like for more birds of my particular feather to flock together and give Bird After Bird a try, I’ve been asking myself for months what I might do differently to package this story in a way that gets it in front of the right readers.

To that end, I rewrote the blurb this week. Today I had another idea: why not make a new cover?

In truth, I LOVE the original cover. I really do. I did a little more homework, though, and realized that it’s totally possible a different look would appeal to a better audience for the book. So…I’m nervous to reveal it, but here it is…

It may not be the final version. I haven’t decided. It’s such a different direction, I reserve the right to change my mind as often as I’d like. Why be your own publisher if you don’t exercise all those rights and privileges, right?

At any rate, I thought this could be the dock where Laurie writes and sketches. It could be a spot on the lake where Wren birds. It could be where Billy fishes. It’s my hope, as well, that the new cover appeals to lovers of the outdoors, and evokes that “field guide” look, at least in part.

What do you think? If you’ve read the book, I’d love to hear your opinion.

Updated buy links for Bird After Bird

Bird After Bird is for sale at four online retailers. Two have it at regular price of $5.99, the other two have it for $.99 for a limited time. That price could fly back up any minute.

Bookworm Brandee says:

I adore this story. It’s told in dual POV and having a front row seat to both Wren’s and Laurie’s journeys was fascinating. Ms. Tash clearly loves these characters and shares their story with such emotion and tenderness, it made me love them all the more. The fact that Wren and Laurie both have ‘bird’ names that correlate to the title was clever. There are many references to this throughout the story and Ms. Tash tied it all together with the birds brilliantly.

Bird After Bird releases on Nook, iTunes, and Kobo

As I type this, I’m watching my little farm wench chase birds around the back yard. Chickens and guineas, to be precise.

The Monkey and Amy, a barred rock bantam pullet

We named this chicken after my friend Amy Harmon. If you haven’t read her work, you really owe it to yourself to give one of her books a try.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day in Southern Indiana–hopefully these cool/sunny temps will hold for Saturday morning at Plum Creek, where I’ll be signing books, enjoying the farmer’s market, and the ukelele band that will be performing! If you’re in Louisville or Southern Indiana, come on out! I will have all my Leslea Tash books, Red Tash books, and a few I have edited or been published in (anthos and some other–steamy–stuff!)

In other bird/book news, Bird After Bird is now out on all the non-Amazon ebook stores. For a limited time, it’s only $.99.

Bird After Bird now on iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo stores

So, I reckon you want links. Okay:

If you’ve already read the book and loved it, naturally I would appreciate reviews on those websites to encourage new readers to give the book a try.

I’m also still campaigning for 500 likes on my Facebook page, and one lucky winner is going to get a huge box of signed paperbacks when I hit that magic #!

Louisville / Southern Indiana area folks, you will not want to miss this!

I recently discovered the best little farmer’s market ever. Great energy, beautiful location on a family-owned farm, live music, a petting zoo for the kids (or adults who are kids at heart), cornhole, frisbee toss, Sarsaparilla on tap, and loads of fresh eggs, produce, goat milk, and other goodies from local bakers, vendors, and craftsmen!

So, naturally, country girl that I am, I realized I must have a book signing there! I hope you will come out to scenic Lanesville, Indiana and join me on July 19th!

Kindle Countdown Deal on Bird After Bird

Good morning, peacocks. In case you missed it Saturday, there’s a Kindle Countdown Deal going on for Bird After Bird right now.

That means the price counts down until it’s back to its full price of $3.99. That means, snag it now! If you already have it, send a gift copy to a friend, right? Who couldn’t use more birds in her life?

(Well…I have a rooster I could probably live without, but barring that dazzling concoction of feathers + bravado…)

HEY! Don’t try to distract me with your cutesy chicken talk, blog reader! We’re talking serious business here! You could save up to $3 depending on how quickly you click! Three bucks is three bucks, right? That’s a half bag of chicken feed, already! For goodness’ sake, folks, what are you waiting for? In the words of Gandalf, “FLY, you fools!”
