Almost Time to Lift the Curtain.
I just sent Sometimes We Ran 2: Community off to the editor. I've done all I can. It's up to the professionals to make it into a book.:)
It's about 68,000 words, and it continues John and Claire's story as they try to survive in a shattered world. It feels a lot like the first book, so I hope zombie fans will enjoy it.
Now on to new business. How about Sometimes We Ran 3? :)

Welcome to the Internet Ebook Party ...Libiro
There is a new place on the web to purchase Sometimes We Ran ...Libiro.
It looks pretty small at the moment, but they have some big plans for the future. So if you need a PDF or a EPUB of SWR, Libiro is one place to go get it.

Sometimes We Ran is about three rows down or so. :)
Sideload away my friends.

I Wrote a Story About Giant Bugs.
The title says it all. I wrote a 4300-word story about giant man-eating bugs.
I didn't just write it, I published it as well. You can check it out on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple. It's also going on Libiro too. It's called bugs ...clever title, huh? :) Very descriptive. I have it for 99c.

Kobogeddon
While checking my sale links for a Facebook Virtual Book Fair (https://www.facebook.com/events/37290...), I noticed that Kobo threw me an error. Thinking it was a glitch, I went to the store to find Sometimes We Ran. To my surprise, it was gone!
Like any other modern American, I hit the net to find out if it was just me.
It wasn't.
One of Kobo's partners had a problem with some erotica titles, and pulled all the self-published books out of the store.:( Kobo followed in their own store, and Sometimes We Ran was kicked to the curb. All indie writers, and their works were purged.
It's being called Kobogeddon. We didn't even get to stock up on canned food.
Now I should be hopping mad. Sometimes We Ran is not erotica. It has a little violence and gore, but come on, it's about a zombie apocalypse for goodness sakes. What does Kobo think? The hungry undead are going to dance with the survivors?
I'm kidding actually. It doesn't cause too many problems for me. To date, I have only sold one (1) copy on Kobo. By the way, to my one and only Kobo customer ...Thanks.
I just hope this isn't a continuing problem for us self-publishing folks. I'm starting to like this writing thing a little.
To be fair, Draft2Digital(the people who published my book to Kobo), and Kobo are working on the problem. Sometimes We Ran should be back online in a few days. Till then faithful Kobo shoppers, you can use the DriveThruFiction and Leanpub links to get my book. Happy hunting!:)

It has Begun.
Sometimes We Ran 2: Community is on the journey from first draft to novel. The self-edit/read through has begun!
It's amazing how words you thought were brilliant and captivating a month ago now look terrible on the first read through!

100 Copies Sold.
Sometimes We Ran just sold its 100th copy today! To all the people that bought my little novel ...thanks.
I didn't know what to expect when I published, but I really wanted to make at least a 100 sales. That number came from an article that said most indie publishers on average didn't sell 100 copies after pushing the publish button. I thought that if I reached 100 copies, I could buck the trend.:)
Some things I have learned:
-Amazon may be the king of the world
Roughly 80% of my sales came from the great and powerful 'Zon. That includes both ebooks and print copies through CreateSpace. These guys know how to sell books! I know other people do well in other stores, but I can't budge the needle anywhere else.
-You have to do a print copy.
When I started out, I did not intend to do a print copy. I'm glad I went through the trouble. The softcover looks great, and it sold 20 copies. It's also cool to see your words in print.:)
-It's really tough to read reviews.
Right now, I have 5 reviews on Amazon. They average about 4.4 stars. Every time one pops up, I feel very cold and nervous. I got a 3 star a few months ago, and couldn't sleep for a week!
-Facebook and Twitter are necessary.
I was a casual Facebook user, and I avoided Twitter like a bad rash. However, most people get their info from them. You have to be on both.
-Open Office is pretty cool.
I use a downloaded copy of Open Office to write. It works very well. A lot of people use fancy programs, but good ole Open Office works just great. It's not fancy, but it just works. It's the Chevy Nova of word programs.:)
-Stop checking sales, and have fun.
I admit. I am a recovering chronic sales report checker. I would check my reports a few times a day, and want to hide under my desk when sales slowed up. I'm now down to 2 or 3 times a day. I stopped wringing my hands about sales, and relaxed a bit. I'm starting to have fun writing. I'll probably never be a rich bestseller, but the sales will come. At least I hope they do.:)
Again, thanks to all my new readers. I hope you enjoyed the book. Looking forward to Sometimes We Ran-150 copies sold.:)
