I write my stories to let you know about brave people I met while living in Mexico. Almost everything I write comes from the headlines of Spanish-sourced news reports in Mexico and the USA and from my own personal experiences. I have found that the happiest, most fulfilled people are the ones who live and die passionately. Outraged and craving justice, often courageous because of love and carnal yearning for another, the characters in my stories move with the energy of bonfire. I have known these people in real life, and I envy them.

As an artist, I have exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and I was a member of the Richmond, Virginia Artists Association for about fifteen years.
Why I own my life collection:
The Richmond Artists Association used to exhibit at malls and other public places in the 1960’s and 70’s. One day a City of Richmond License Agent came by one of our exhibits with a note book and wrote down the names of artists who did not have a City Sales Tax License. When I got the City license, the IRS said I had to file a quarterly employee return even though I had no employees, and then the State said I had to get a business license. Then the malls got worried about liability and required us to get individual liability insurance. Rules and regulations were taking up so much of my painting time that I said to heck with it, and quit exhibiting. As a result, I have accumulated hundreds of paintings, drawings and cartoons over the years. The publication of this art in books enables me to share my art truly at a global level.

My entire collection of original works is available for private acquisition by collectors, galleries or museums.
I have divided my works into three collections, each collection defined by the art in my three print books: An Artist’s Life, An Artist’s Vision, and An Artist’s World. These three collections (or all three as a whole) are available for private acquisition by collectors, galleries or museums.

Ancient Sink Hole!
The newest painting from my father, 88-year-old master artist, Dan Wetta! This painting in acrylic is a design for a stained glass window based upon block print illustrations in 14th century bibles. The subject matter depicts the story in Numbers 16: 25-34 in which wicked men were swallowed into the earth in front of Moses and the Israelites. My father surmises that a sink hole did this, not an earthquake as reported in the story!

Indeed it is impossible to understand the tremendous changes in the drug business during the combined sexenios of Salinas and Zedillo (1989–2000) without taking into account the massive political, economic, and ideological transformations wrought during that decade and the previous one by the PRI-governed state.
Farmers, unable to sustain themselves due to the removal of subsidies and the arrival of competition from US agri-corporations, found the burgeoning market for marijuana and poppies their only avenue to surviving on the land. The army of the urban unemployed gave the cartels a deep pool from which to recruit foot soldiers, and the miserably paid (and eminently corruptible) police and military provided the muscle with which to protect their interests.
