Homeschooling...

...is not all its cracked up to be...at least, on some days.  Let me clarify--


Here I sit at 6:48 p.m. with my darling boy, still fighting over math problems.  Secretly, I want to strangle him.  Is that bad?  Okay...it was a bad joke.  Needless to say, we've had a rough day.  Math has been, by far, the worst today.  He has hemmed and hawed and whined and complained so continually that I've wanted to just run screaming into the nearby field.  


Am I crazy yet?!  Absolutely.  Far gone.  


But then, there are the days where he smiles at me and hugs me and tells me he's so lucky to have a mom who will spend this kind of time with him, and he learns so quickly and patiently that I'm wishing today were that day.  *sigh*


But its not.  So, we must press on until we're finished.  I don't think there's anything more worthwhile than raising good children unto the Lord.  But I still hope I'm doing that while secretly desiring to beat him.  How can that be?  I don't know.  I just know that today is hard and that we have both been helped to survive this day.

Okay.  Hours have gone by since my pity party above, and I'm fine.  Thank heaven!  We all need a break from time to time.  I know I certainly did.  And my poor grumpy boy...he certainly deserved a break after our tough school day.  So we went to my daughter's Youth Symphony concert tonight, and it was awesome!  So proud of them all!  What a spectacular display of beautiful music!  I truly enjoyed it, and it got us away from the drudgeries of life.  Thank heaven for small miracles!

I love my new Kindle that I received for my birthday this year from my sweet sister and the cool pink cover my daughter bought for it.  I've read a TON of books since January.  Like that's ever an issue...  :)

*Sigh...*

So, this has not been a fun week.  First, I had to go in to the cardiologist and still have yet to do the tests there this next week.  Now, I'm prepping for a real exciting procedure to be completed tomorrow, and I'm on a liquid diet for that purpose.  At least I'm not fasting.  But still, I'm tired of doctors and doctor's offices. 

Uggh. 

*sigh...*

My first Novella!

So here's the deal.  Many of you have read my first three volumes of The Governess without the added chapters that now belong in the Trilogy.  I've had requests to put those chapters out there in a novella...

A taste of what's to come...

I used to share snippets from The Governess on my BlogSpot twice a week, kind of like a weekly soap opera, but stopped when there were hints of people copying my work.  *sigh*


So it's scary to share snippets from Pirate Bride because I worry about the same thing.  Authors toil long hours to produce something that might entice readers to read their hard work.  Not for it to be stolen.  I hope I can entice those of you waiting for the sequel with this little tidbit.  Pirate Bride is getting closer to being released this spring.  I worried that I wouldn't make my deadline, but hope has been restored. :) ...I hope...   I've enjoyed rereading early chapters and thought I might share a snippet with you.  Shhh!  Only share with those you trust...

Ellise~ A snippet from Chapter 4 ~Vanished


Late that evening, as Susannah walked to her room, she saw an elegant lady and an old English wolf hound walking in the corridor away from her.  Would she not have met this guest at supper, she thought, oddly? 

Curious still, she slowed her pace and looked behind her as an eerie feeling crept along the hall making her shiver.  Catching her breath, she could almost smell something.  Was it floral…and spice?  Looking back to where the lady and her dog walked, she noticed how the lady turned, looking over her shoulder at Susannah, her black Spanish tiara and veil stunning against her red gown.  But, before she could turn the corner, she and the hound vanished. 

Sucking in a breath, Susannah stopped short, breathing hard, reaching a steadying hand to the cold stone wall.  Feeling faint, she closed her eyes a moment to even her breathing.  The eerie feeling dissipated only to leave behind a longing sense of sadness, loneliness, and despair.  

Was she losing her mind?
