The Covenant - Special Thanks

Quite a few articles went up over the Memorial Day weekend, and I wanted to mention as many as I can to share my appreciation for their mentioning my book on their blog.
Kami McArthur has be a good friend of mine throughout my college days and afterwards, and it just so happens that she’s a writer too! Check out her blog, and the article she did on The Covenant, here.

Brenda Birch Gallaher and I were just introduced to each other via a social networking group for authors. Super nice person who wrote an article on my book which you can read here.

J. J. Bennett is an author I’d love to get to know more, which I might get that opportunity since I might be joining her critique group soon. Anyways, she wrote this article on my book.
Many others wrote articles, which I've listed on previous blog posts (Diann T. Read & Sherry Gammon). I really appreciate all who helped out in this book launch.
I’m on Goodreads as well, so if you have a Goodreads account, you can follow my books there. It’s a pretty cool site for avid readers, check it out.

I also wrote an article that I posted on Hubpages. Here’s a link to that article

And last but not least, in case you already haven't purchased my new book The Covenant, visit the book store page, read the description, and see if it's something you might be interested in picking up. I hope you enjoy the read. The Covenant by Paul Yoder

The Covenant by Paul Yoder

Paul and his wife Nikki
The Covenant My name is Paul Yoder—author of Tome of Victims, City ofTown, and now, The Covenant, and I’m here to tell you a bit about my latest book, The Covenant.
The Covenant, an occult/suspense fiction novel, is part of a series I’m writing called “The Bracken Covenant.” The series has a somewhat dark mood to it, hitting on many controversial issues that we face in our society, most having to do with religion.
Now, that subject alone might stop people from picking up a book, because most of us are very set in our beliefs, but I think I did a pretty good job at leaving both sides comfortable with the subject material, while urging meaningful thought on the subject. Hopefully providing some positive stimulation one the topic of religion.
The series, and especially this book, The Covenant, contains quite a few violent set pieces scattered throughout the book. Maybe it’s my love of high-fantasy fiction stories, or my pastime of anime and video games, but to be honest, an appropriate amount of violence can really help make a book exciting. These violent sections of the book helps the reader realize that yes, lives are at stake here, and these characters that you care about could get hurt, or even die.
Buy the book today!I know I took a risk dealing with these two controversial subjects (one more than the other), but I think I did the topics justice, and hopefully you’ll approve of the way in which I presented them.                That having been said, what exactly is the book about? It’s the second book in “The Bracken Covenant” series, but it’s the first full-length novel in the series. So, you don’t really need to feel like you have to go read the first book before picking up The Covenant. The first book in the series is titled Tome of Victims, and is a precursor to the main story that will take place in the later books.
The Covenant follows the story of a college professor who becomes suspicious of a fellow professor of being a kidnapper. After following him after work one day, his suspicions are confirmed, and he becomes swept up in pursuit of his fellow professor, following him to an underground cultist den, which is a large renovated 1940’s bomb shelter.
The protagonist, Dr. Carver, in his attempt to rescue the kidnapped kid, runs into all sorts of trouble, dealing with possessed zealots, to trapped and tortured animals that the cult keeps caged down in this cultist den.
The story is really about Dr. Carver trying to escape the zealot’s base along with kidnapped kids that he finds down there; but, throughout the story, Dr. Carver is questioned by both the zealots and the kids themselves about religious issues, and this English professor has to figure out how to address these points.
I think that we’re all pliable people, and there isn’t a day that goes by that my mind doesn’t change on some subject, some small (yesterday I decided my favorite number is now nine), some big. Dr. Carver is a person that is at a crossroads in his life, dealing with paradigm shifts, most quite large.
So, that’s my new book, The Covenant by Paul Yoder. Click here for a link to the purchase page. Give it a read! it’s on Amazon for $2.99. And leave me a comment on questions you might have before buying it, or if you’ve read it and wanted to connect with me about your experience with the book.
Don't forget to subscribe, and thanks for reading, until next time…
Thanks to my wife Nikki who designed the cover.

My new book now available on Amazon

The Covenant by Paul Yoder
Earlier today, author Sherry Gammon, a long-time author, mentioned my newly released book “The Covenant,” on her blog. I’m really pleased that I’ve finally got the novel done and out into the world, and it’s currently available on Amazon for $2.99.
I plan to do a full-length post next week discussing my book in detail, but for now, head on over to Sherry’s blog and check out the write-up she did on my book!

My next book is coming out in a few days!

I’m finished with my book! Now all that I need to do is finish up the cover art and publish it. I’ll have it out soon, probably before the weekend for anyone interested in picking up the first copies. I’m planning on holding a book bomb on May 25th (which is also my birthday!), so if you don’t plan on picking it up on day one, then please consider buying the book on May 25th.
For those who don’t know what a book bomb is, it’s when you buy a book on a specific date, helping to boost the book’s search rating on the Amazon store, which potentially raises views and sales.
So I’ll keep everyone in the loop with the book bomb. Subscribe to my blog if you already haven’t. This is where I discuss my books releases, so if you’re interested in following, I always appreciate more ears.
Anyways, thanks for stopping by! Next time I post, it will be to announce that my book is out!

The next book in The Bracken Covenant Series is coming out next month.

I’ve got the details worked out, and it seems that it is going to possible to meet my goal of publishing the next book in The Bracken Covenant Series by the end of next month! It’s going to require a lot of work on my end, probably 4-6 hours of writing, editing, proofreading, formatting, etc. every day, but I really want this birthday to stand for something, since I’m getting older, and time is slipping away.
Here’s what my schedule looks like up until launch day:April 15-28: Finish first draftApril 29-May 5: Edit and expandMay 6-12: ProofreadMay 13-19: Format, create cover art, write summary and descriptions, get ready for epublishingMay 20: Publish!May 24: Start a Kickstarter to print a paperback version of book.May 25: Hold a book bomb on my birthday
There’s the schedule. I’m getting the “writing books in four months” thing down pretty consistently, which is pretty cool. Never before last year would I have thought I could write a book under a year’s time, let alone four months!
If you want to help, when the book bomb happens, you can help by buying a copy of the book, but until then the best thing you can do is subscribe here and on my Facebook page. I’ll keep everyone in the loop with the book’s progression here and there. Let others know about this too. There’s not too many writers that get out two books in a series under six months, so I think it’s pretty unique. Let’s spread the word!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s not to be a doubting Boromir. It can be done! Even though the path may seem difficult—perhaps even impossible.

The Best Birthday Present Ever

Welcome back! It’s been a bit. I’ve been writing my fingers off on this new book in The Bracken Covenant series and just lost track of time with my blog (It’s a bad habit I have, I’m pretty one-track minded). I’ve got some awesome news, so let’s get to it.
My topic needs a precursor, so let me start with announcing that my birthday is next month (May 25th). You might be saying to yourself, “So what? Announcing your birthday to the world? Come on guy. Grow up. Nobody over 10 announces their birthday to random people out of excitement.” And I would have to say back “True, true. You have a point there. But THIS birthday is going to be different. I’m actually going to try to improve myself this birthday. Celebrate by striving for excellence, and I need your help to ultimately do that.”
So what is this “striving for excellence” business? Not only am I going to work on finishing book two in The Bracken Covenant series, but I’m also going host a Kickstarter for getting it printed! For those who don’t know what Kickstarter is, it’s a crowd-funding program. If there’s an artistic project you would like to fund, you can donate to its development for rewards and incentives. (In the case of books, it’s usually the book itself. You’re practically just preordering the book.) The plan is for me to have the Kickstarter for book two up by my birthday, because really, that’s all I’ve ever wished for on my birthday—for my books to sell something, anything. I’ve made that wish since I was a teenager, and still haven’t been as successful as I wanted to be.
So there’s lots of preparations to be made, schedules to write up for me to get this project on track, and more explaining about what you can do to help support this project when the Kickstarter happens, but for now, just wanted to show you what I’m working towards.
Share the word if you can. It really helps. Reaching out online is difficult without having friends sharing the word with their friends. I'll be back within a week with a firm plan and more details. Until then, subscribe to my blog and Facebook author page (Paul Toy Yoder - Writer) to keep up with me.

Buy a Book, Enjoy the Evening

It’s been a week or two since last I posted. Life had to get involved with my writing/posting schedule which took me back a few day’s with my writing. All’s cleared up now though and thankfully I am writing again. Anyways, on with the news.
My very talented wife, who is a graphic designer, put together a nice flyer for my book! I’m really pleased with it and hope to get the word spread around. I obviously do want as many people to see the flyer for my book as possible, so please share this post with friends on Facebook or here on Blogger.
It really is a difficult lot writers have. I just now got back my first month’s sales numbers; and, well, the numbers aren’t as high as I was expecting them to be, neither the number of reviews on Amazon. Putting hundreds of hours into a book is an exhausting and drawn-out experience to say the least, and the only way the triumph of finally finishing that book and getting it published can be realized is if there are readers out there to pick it up and read it.
I really do appreciate you sharing my Facebook and blog posts, along with my actual book sales page on Amazon to friends and family you may know that like a good thriller. The cost is low, the read is somewhat short, and in my opinion, it’s worth a few hours and a couple of bucks to experience what Tome of Victims has to offer.

Tutorial for Installing Free Amazon Kindle App

Tutorial for Installing Free Amazon Kindle AppI just published my book, Tome of Victims, and have it on sale through Amazon; but, after talking with some friends and family members, I’ve come to realize that not everyone knows that you can download a free Kindle app for your PC or Mac devices.
So even if you don’t own a Kindle, you can still read Kindle books by just downloading the apps available for multiple devices (smart phones, tablets, computers, etc.) at the Amazon Kindle website.
Best part is, it actually is really simple to download and set-up. Most won’t even need more than this link to the Amazon Kindle’s download page, but I’ll do a written tutorial and a video just in case.

Tutorial
1. Go to the Amazon Kindle free reading app page.

2. Select the device you wish to install the free reading app to.

3. Once the downloader box pops up, click “save file.”

4. In the installer window, click “Run” and wait for the installer to install the app (it may take a few seconds to install, so be patient). The program will open once installed.
If you want to check out my new book, Tome of Victims, visit my store page at Amazon.com. Also, subscribe to my blog if you haven’t already. Just click the little “Join this site” button over on the right.
