‘Guilty Pleasures’: Whatever Happened to ‘Fun’?

There seems to be a trend now to call everything that’s not highbrow a ‘guilty pleasure’.  Chick lit seems to get this label a lot.  The Times just posted an article on ‘The books we secretly love‘, as if an enjoyable book constitutes some kind of weird fetish that people would avoid you if they […]

Why Should You Bother Reporting Unfair Reviews?

A little while ago, I posted asking for help to get an unfair review removed from Amazon and I woke up this morning to find it had gone, hurrah!  So thank you to everyone who reported it.  I realised, though, that I was being selfish only thinking of mine.  There are lots of unfair reviews […]

How ‘The Dr Pepper Prophecies’ Came to Be

I wrote The Dr Pepper Prophecies at the tender age of 20.  Scary, huh?  At the time I was on my gap year, having finished A-levels.  Strictly speaking it was my second gap year, as I’d gone to Quebec as an exchange student after my GCSEs.  I was in France taking lessons in French (oddly […]

New Book’s Title Will Be ‘After Wimbledon’

Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll and to Mark (one of my beta readers) who first suggested it. On 1 October I’m starting on the next round of editing.  I’m waiting to hear back from one beta reader and another started late, but hopefully I will be done with that by the […]

Want to be the First to Know When Your Favourite Authors Publish New Work on Amazon?

If you go to Amazon.com you can sign up for an email alert when an author publishes new work.  It doesn’t seem to be available on other sites, but books will usually come out on all sites simultaneously.

To sign up:

1. Log in to your Amazon.com account.  You can sign up just with your email and password if you use another site – you don’t need to input your payment details again.

2. Go to the author’s Amazon.com page (this may show up in a search for the author’s name – if not search for one of their books and click on their name instead of the title).

3. Look for the words ‘Stay Up To Date’ in orange at the top right of the page.

4. Under this is a link that says ‘E-mail me when there are new releases by [Author Name]‘.  Click on that.

5. The link will be replaced by the words ‘You are now subscribed to new release e-mails for [Author Name]‘ in green.  These emails will come to the email you log in with.

6. While you’re there, click the orange button just above this to ‘Like’ the author.

Off to do this for my favourite authors…

Subscribe to these emails for my work

Please Comment on the Cover for My New Novel

The Deciding Set coverThis is the draft cover for my new book (using the working title – final title TBC).  I’d really appreciate thoughts on it.  Does it look like chick lit?  Would you recognise it as being by the same author as ‘The Dr Pepper Prophecies’?  Do you think you would like to read it?  Is there anything you would change?

Thank you!
