4 1/2 Hearts for Double or Nothing

I'm thrilled that The Romance Studio has given DOUBLE OR NOTHING a 4 1/2 hearts review!

"In Double or Nothing from the multi-talented author N.J. Walters, it’s easy to get lost within the pages of this wildly seductive and sexy story that radiates tenderness, trust and passion between two smoking hot cowboys and the one lady meant to be theirs. The tangled plot, lined with the history of friendship, attraction and misapprehension between the characters along with sexual tension, desire and powerful emotions between Cherry and her men creates a love story that is a real treat to enjoy again and again. The perfectly pitched dialogue feels right on complementing these dynamic characters." ~Shannon, TRS

Death of the Yahoo Group

Once again, Yahoo has made changes with seemingly little or no consultation with the folks who actually use the service.  They've rolled out the new NEO format for their Yahoo Groups, changing it without warning or permission. I honestly have to wonder if they got people who actually use Yahoo Groups to test the system. Given the result, I would think not.

The new Yahoo Group format is not the least bit user friendly. There are things I used to do with ease that I know longer know how to do. I always read from and posted directly on the groups. Now my formatting is all screwed up and even simply replying to an email has become a complicated process. It's unnecessarily complicated and hasn't improved the Groups one single bit. If anything it's taken away from them.

Yahoo and other tech companies need to understand that most of the people availing of their products and services are not technical gurus, nor do they wish to learn. We already have enough in our lives to keep us busy, thank you very much. Most folks want things kept simple and friendly, not so complicated it makes you want to pull out your hair in frustration.

I fear I will be using Yahoo Groups less and less, which is a shame, because it's a venue I've used since the beginning of my writing career to connect with readers. Yahoo might have been hoping to improve, but all they've done is pushed people like me more toward Facebook and Twitter.

Unless they return to the previous format I fear this could be the death knell for the Yahoo Group.

What do you think of the new Yahoo Groups?

Damek's Redemption in PRINT!

I'm thrilled to announce that DAMEK'S REDEMPTIONis now available in PRINT!

BLURB:

Legacy, Book 6

Myths and legends are more than just passing interests for Sonia Agostino. She holds degrees in folklore and anthropology, and she comes from a family of Keepers, humans charged with helping paranormal creatures survive in the modern world.

Recently, her research—and her intuition—have led her to Chicago's Inhibitions nightclub. Its enigmatic owner, known only as Damek, could be the one paranormal creature she has never seen. A vampire. Except he won't see her.

Damek has good reason to refuse an audience with Sonia. One look at her and his gut reaction is she’s a serious threat to the simple, highly disciplined routine that keeps his bloodlust in check. Worse, she has unwittingly led vampire hunters far too close for comfort.

Yet when she stubbornly shows up at the nightclub a second time, he cannot refuse her. The force of their attraction explodes with erotic power—and danger. For when Sonia discovers that her suspicions were true, she finds her loyalties unexpectedly tested. And her choice will forever change both their lives.
Warning: This book contains smokin’ hot sex, intrigue, a mysterious sexy vampire, vampire hunters, werewolves and a huge Greek family.

Tuesday Teaser: Damek's Redemption

DAMEK'S REDEMPTIONis part of the Legacy series. From the very beginning, readers were curious about this vampire who was friend to the werewolves. He snuck into my heart and demanded a book of his own.

TEASER:

Damek closed his eyes and swallowed hard. Her blood pumped through her veins, calling to him like a siren calls a sailor to his death. The whoosh echoed in his ears until it was all he could hear. He licked his lips, his fangs sharp in his mouth. He could almost taste her on his tongue. She would be so sweet.

He’d leaned forward without realizing it and swore under his breath. He was not a monster to take what was not freely given to him. His needs were met easily these days. Owning a blood bank gave him more than an ample supply of sustenance. But there was nothing quite like the taste of fresh blood, still hot, still pulsing from the vein.

Weekend Book Club--Deception Cove by Jayne Castle and For the Love of Magic by Janet Chapman

Jayne Ann Krentz is an automatic buy for me. I don't care which pen name she's writing under--Jayne Ann Krentz, Stephanie James, Amanda Glass, Jayne Bentley, Jayne Taylor, Jayne Castle or Amanda Quick. She was the first major romance author I ever read and I've read almost all of her books. The only exceptions  are some of her early books, which are almost impossible to find.

DECEPTION COVEby Jayne Castle is her latest Rainshadow novel. This is a face-paced love story with a fascinating mystery at the heart of it. I really enjoy this author's futuristic books and love the dust bunnies. You might want to read The Lost Night first if you haven't been following the series.

BLURB:

As a light-talent, Alice North has the rare ability to make things disappear, including herself—a gift that comes in handy during her magic act with her dust bunny Houdini.

Business mogul Drake Sebastian is day-blind, since his sight was nearly destroyed in a lab accident. But he’s the one man who can see Alice when she disappears—and he needs her.

On Rainshadow Island, two dangerous Old World crystals are missing, igniting a paranormal storm. Drake thinks Alice is the key to finding them, and proposes they head there, but only after a Marriage of Convenience.

Alice’s honeymoon on Rainshadow is guaranteed to be memorable, as the island—and the passion between her and Drake—is about to explode…

The other book I read this week is FOR THE LOVE OF MAGIC by Janet Chapman. This is part of her Spellbound Falls series. Chapman's books are heartwarming romances with a touch of magic. This book gives readers a whole new take on the idea of gods and goddesses. It's fun, romantic and well worth reading, but I would suggest you read the books in order or you might not enjoy it as much as you should.

While I enjoy her Spellbound Falls series, I really love her Highlander series. I mean how can you not love a man in a kilt, especially one who has come from the past to modern times.

BLURB:

After forty years of marriage, Rana Oceanus has done the unthinkable and run away from her mighty, magical husband. Not that she ran very far, having purchased a house in Spellbound Falls right on the shore of the Bottomless Sea, where she intends to prepare for the scariest battle of her life. The only flaw in her plan, however, is that she is still very much in love with Titus…

Shocked and deeply shaken that his wife really has left him—though he still can’t fathom why—Titus sets out to win her back. But when grand gestures of his esteem don’t seem to further his cause, he conjures up some of his original courtship magic.

But his plan backfires when Titus discovers that dealing with demons is far less threatening than the little secret his very mortal wife has been keeping from him...

Tuesday Teaser: Shadows Stir from the Ellora's Cavemen: Dreams of the Oasis IV Anthology

This week the Tuesday Teaser comes from "Shadows Stir" my story in the  ELLORA'S CAVEMEN: DREAMS OF THE OASIS IV anthology. It's the story that began my Shadow Ryder series.

TEASER:

“Damn it,” she swung back around. “You let him get away. I wasn’t finished with him yet.”

“I was protecting you.” She almost melted into the ground as his deep voice washed over her.
“Yeah, well, I didn’t need help.” Realizing how ungrateful that sounded, she shook off her disappointment. “Look, I appreciate what you were trying to do, but I didn’t need any help.”
“He had a weapon pointed at you.” His logic just ticked her off.
“I could have disarmed him. I can take care of myself.” She turned and started walking back down the alley toward the light, sheathing her weapon as she went. Her mind was already planning her next move.
There was no sound, no warning at all. One minute she was almost out of the alleyway, the next, her back was up against the wall, her hands trapped in his. He lowered his head until his forehead was all but touching hers. The scowl on his face left no doubt that he was angry with her. Leaning even closer, he whispered, “Can you now?”
