Weekend Book Club--Garden of Lies by Amanda Quick

This week I read GARDEN OF LIES by Amanda Quick. As always, there is strong heroine, witty dialogue and a mystery at the heart of the story, which brings the hero and heroine together. Always original and entertaining, I thoroughly enjoyed Amanda Quick's latest book.

BLURB:

The Kern Secretarial Agency provides reliable professional services to its wealthy clientele, and Anne Clifton was one of the finest women in Ursula Kern’s employ. But Miss Clifton has met an untimely end—and Ursula is convinced it was not due to natural causes.

Archaeologist and adventurer Slater Roxton thinks Mrs. Kern is off her head to meddle in such dangerous business. Nevertheless, he seems sensible enough to Ursula, though she does find herself unnerved by his self-possession and unreadable green-gold eyes…

If this mysterious widowed beauty insists on stirring the pot, Slater intends to remain close by as they venture into the dark side of polite society. Together they must reveal the identity of a killer—and to achieve their goal they may need to reveal their deepest secrets to each other as well…

Throwback Thursday--Book Edition (Water Bound by Christine Feehan)

WATER BOUND (Sea Haven: Sisters of the Heart, #1) is my choice for Throwback Thursday Book Edition. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Christine Feehan, but this might be my favorite book of them all...so far.

Anyone who has read her Drake Sisters series will recognize the name of Prakenskii. This new series takes us back to Sea Haven and introduces us to a group of women who are, as the title of the series implies, sisters of the heart. Rikki is an independent autistic woman with a dark past who fishes a drowning man out of the ocean. Their lives will never be the same.

If you love paranormal romance, suspense, danger and a deeply emotional story, then you must try this book. I love Rikki and her hard-won battles. And Lev...well, he's one of a kind.

Off the shores of Sea Haven, a beautiful diver rescues a man from drowning, a man with no memory of who he is-or why he seems to possess the violent instincts of a trained killer. But soon, he and his savior will be engulfed in a storm of dizzying passion and inescapable danger...

BLURB:

The last thing Lev Prakenskii remembered was being lost in the swirling currents of the ocean and getting sucked deeper into the nothingness of a freezing black eddy off the coastal town of Sea Haven.  Just as quickly, just a miraculously, he was saved—pulled ashore by a beautiful stranger.  But Lev has no memory of who he is—or why he seems to possess the violent instincts of a trained killer.  All he knows is that he fears for his life, and for the life of his unexpected savior.

Her name is Rikki, a sea~urchin diver in Sea Haven.  She has always felt an affinity for the ocean, and for the seductive pull of the tides.  And now she feels drawn in the same way to the enigmatic man she rescued.  But soon they will be bound by something even stronger, and their tantalizing secrets will engulf them both in a whirlpool of dizzying passion and inescapable danger.

5 Stars for Flame of the Phoenix

FLAME OF THE PHOENIXhas received 5 Stars from Angel's Addiction Book Blog.

Here's a snippet of the review:

"I love when a book is emotionally intense and yet still sweet at the same time. As much as Phoenix wanted Tilly he was so patient with her and her feelings. Tilly was scared of the intensity of her emotions but when the time came she faced her fears. Love, love, love characters with that kind of inner strength. You have problems, you know it and you deal with it...N.J. Walters can write some seriously sexy PNR! For a fast paced read full of passion, action and engaging characters, I highly recommend Flame of the Phoenix!" ~Angelblue
