Elf Hills by S.S. Dudley
Something strange, something magical, is going on in the dusty hills behind the small town of Villaloma. Yet each time Linda Peters puts on her running shoes and sets out to find the enchanted kingdom she imagines—full of dancing elves, unicorns, and more—something stops her. And with school starting soon, she only has a few more chances to really search the hills. While Linda’s frustration and doubt grow, her cousin, Nugu, looks for answers in his books and wonders if maybe, just maybe, Linda’s stories are for real.
The day finally arrives when Linda can run far, the day she is sure she will find her magic city. But when she and Nugu feel their goal must lie just beyond the next hill, they only find more hill.
Is it all a figment of an over-active imagination; a wistful fantasy?
Or is there truly something magical in those hills that only the strong of heart—and leg—can discover? An Excerpt from eLF hILLS A rustle from a bush to the side of the trail attracted his attention. He watched, expecting a rabbit or ground squirrel to pop out and hoping for a snake or something he could actually catch. Distracted from his search, he quietly picked his way down from the rocks, watching the bush. It rustled again as his foot touched down.
A wave of apprehension washed over him. Something about the moment was familiar, as if he had been in this situation before. The images were vague, so he dismissed them. His imagination got away from him sometimes.
He tiptoed toward the bush, his eyes scanning and probing, looking for a sign of the critter hidden underneath.
He reached out to grab a branch and pull it back—again the images washed over him, memories... There! It was a... a raccoon? Big round eyes, a wide face with a black, furry mask, short stubby ears, and lots of fur. It was holding something shiny in its hands—paws? The creature quickly concealed what it held and growled, showing a mouthful of teeth.
"Augh!" Nugu fell back, scrambling like a crab.
A safe ten feet away, Nugu watched the bush. It rattled again. The raccoon—it could only be a raccoon, he thought—waddled out into the open. It was walking on two feet. Do raccoons walk on two feet? Nugu tried to remember all of the animal documentaries he had seen. Maybe? And do raccoons get so big? This guy looked like he could take on Jeremiah, Nugu's four-year-old (almost five) brother. It reminded Nugu of something else entirely, some creature from a book... or a movie.
Unconsciously, feeling more nervous, Nugu took a couple steps backward.
The big, standing raccoon looked at him, and threw its arms in the air. "BaaaagahLOO!" it grunted. Nugu jumped straight up, turned, and ran. aBOUT s.s. dUDLEY
S. S. Dudley grew up in Wyoming, USA, an avid reader and lover of the outdoors. He studied at the University of Wyoming and the University of Illinois. He started his first book (an epic fantasy hand-written in with a blue fountain pen...) when he was 13, but never finished it. At some point (as his mother recently reminded him), he decided that he needed to go do something (like get a job) for a while before he could, or should, write. He did, and spent time in Colombia, Panamá, Antarctica and the dark recesses of large science buildings on college campuses. That done, he now writes, lives and runs in Northern California with his wife and two children. He can be found at:

CLAIMING EXCALIBUR eBook Giveaway (LEGENDARY SAGA #2)
Aliana Fagan has done what many thought impossible: she’s awakened King Arthur from his fifteen-hundred-year sleep, reunited the Knights of the Round Table, and even beaten Mordrid and Morgana LeFay in battle. But the Destined One’s quest has only begun.
Before the knights can "unearth and reclaim their lost relics" they must survive the trip to Charleston, South Carolina and meet the newest member of the Round Table. If King Arthur’s men thought Aliana and Lacy were tenacious, they'll be even more surprised by Dawn, the third member of the fem-trio.
Deadly secrets, unexpected allies, and a traitor lurking in the shadows await Aliana and the new Round Table as they continue their search for Excalibur. Their only clue is a beyond confusing poem from a mysterious book that speaks of a terrifying creature guarding the legendary sword. Trying to build a somewhat normal relationship with Sir Galahad adds a whole new level of complexity to Aliana’s task, especially when several among them suspect the White Knight may not be wholly himself. Her friendship with King Arthur grows closer, and when circumstances become intense, he may finally get the chance with Aliana that he’s been pining for.
Mysteries, legendary quests, and haunting memories will either unite the members of the New Round Table or fracture their bonds. Aliana and her crew only have seven months before the planets align and Mordrid can seize the power he needs to conquer the seven realms. Can the Destined One keep her new family together and lead Arthur to his destiny of saving the realms? Or will a centuries-old plot for revenge finally spell the king’s end?

An Excerpt from the Book
Arthur sat back in his chair like a practiced storyteller. His golden brown gaze washed over his old and new friends. “Stories had always been told of an ancient sword forged by fire and earth, but no one had ever seen it. When I was six, my father, King Uther, heard word of the sword’s resting place and was told that a Nymph guarded it. Father thought if he had the sword, it would give him the right to rule all of Albion, not just Camelot.” “Why would he think that?” Dawn interrupted.
“Druids,” Merlin said at Arthur’s nod. “They told that the warrior destined to claim the sword of fire and earth would become the greatest king Albion and the seven realms had ever known.”
“Yep, that would do it.” Lacy’s comment caused everyone to chuckle, even Merlin.
“My father believed he was the type of warrior to claim the sword, so he set out on a quest to the lake where we had heard it rested.”
“The Lake of Avalon,” Aliana murmured.
“Yes, at that time the lake was on the border of our land and that of the Fisher King’s kingdom.”
“The Fisher King?” Dawn gasped. “You mean he was real? Cursed land and all?”
“Yes, he was, but that’s another story.” Arthur cleared his throat. “If there will be no more interruptions.” He raised his brow, staring down the three girls.
Dawn held her hands up in surrender.
“As I was saying, the lake was located on the border of Camelot and the Fisher King’s kingdom. Father gathered a squad of knights and marched on the lake. It took us days to reach it. When my father and I stood at the lake’s edge, water rippled and wind howled through the trees, knocking both of us into the lake. A woman rose from beneath the water as the wind started to settle.” Arthur sighed, his eyes far away. “She was beautiful, like nothing I had ever seen. Her hair flowed like clear water, her pale blue eyes glittered with stars, and she glowed like she held the sun inside her.”
Several of the guys smiled wistfully, even Galahad. It amazed Aliana that they’d all been so clearly taken by the Nymph. She imagined a photo of the whole scene, and a spark of jealousy briefly flared.
“She called herself, Nimuah, guardian of Avalon, and keeper of Excalibur. The king stood and told her why we had come, and that he was the warrior of legend. She nodded but kept looking toward me.
‘You are indeed a great warrior king, Uther Pendragon, but only one may claim Excalibur,’ she had said. Father approached her and swore a Pendragon was meant to have the sword. She held out her hands, and water spouted up from the lake toward her palms, bringing with it a long sword inlaid with precious gems and twisting gold. It was the richest sword any of us had ever seen. Father reached out to take it, but the sword rattled and quivered before it shot away, deep into the forest. It moved almost faster than any of us could see.
‘You are not the one worthy of Excalibur. When that warrior’s time comes, Excalibur will be his to claim, if his heart is true,’ the keeper explained, her eyes focused on me. Before father could protest, she vanished, bursting into thousands of water droplets.”

The Kingdom Lights By Steven VS
In a world where cities float, airships sail the skies and mythical creatures are summoned in a pinch, Celes Vale is distinctly average. Living in the shadow of his talented cousin and his powerful aunt and uncle, Celes is resigned to a future of soot, factories and well, more soot. But on the night of his twelfth birthday everything changes. A blinding light, a whispered voice and in an instant Celes becomes the first ordinary child in history to develop magic, sending him on a fast-track ticket to the greatest of the floating cities, Gardarel. Boasting grand, elegant buildings wrought from shimmering white stone, the entire city appears as though it has been built from light, and so it has come to be called the Kingdom Lights.
Though some welcome Celes, others want the dirt-ridden up-start off their city preferably head first. Nowhere is this clearer than in the attitude and actions of the beautiful and haughty Lady Ban and her sneering nephew, Marcus Blackwood. But Blackwood, with his gang of goons and unimaginative one-liners, is soon the least of Celes s problems.
With a little magic and a lot of detective work, Celes and his group of Scurriers and Wisps unravel the dark truth behind Lady Ban s prim, perfect smile an alliance to the villainous Wardens and the masked man who leads them. However, in his attempt to expose Lady Ban, Celes unwittingly stumbles onto an even darker conspiracy a plan that could lead to the complete destruction of Gardarel itself.
An Excerpt from the Book Light. Beautiful, pulsing, bathing him in its emerald glow…his eyes were peering open now, his mind fumbling for thoughts and memories, a taste like metal upon his tongue.
“Are you hurt?” said a voice, faint, distant. “I didn’t want to hurt you, but I didn’t have a choice.”
“Choice?” the boy croaked. He tried to reach up, but his hands had been bound, thick ropes cutting into soft flesh. I’m back in the Gravity Rooms, he realized, though the chamber itself had been transformed entirely. The emerald light now dripped with the crimson of hundreds of Flare Crystals, as though an angry swarm had surged forth against a far larger beast.
“I know why you’re here, but I...you can’t stop this.” As his eyes began to focus, Celes saw the Warden standing before him, draped in a white cloak, his iron mask half-hidden beneath his hood. It was strange, so strange to find the spectre amongst shadows for once illuminated.
“You can’t,” said Celes his lips cracked, his thoughts dizzy. What’s…my head, I can’t think… “You can’t destroy Gardarel. Please. I know you’re working for Lady Ban. You don’t…you don’t have to do this!”
The Warden took a knee before him. “I do,” came the whispered reply, soft and sad. “They made their choice; and I, mine.”

It's up to Alexandra, her friends, and possible new allies to save the day in the thrilling new tale of Alexandra Fry, Private Eye.
Enjoy an excerpt:
I gulped and shook my head, not wanting to speak for fear of someone hearing. “We’re minutes away. Now if you don’t mind going away, I really don’t need the distraction,” I hissed.
Jack stiffened next to me and he glanced around. “He’s here? Augustus?”
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, complaining as usual.”
Augustus fixed his beady eyes on me, then vanished in a huff. As I stared at the empty space where he’d been, the air grew cold again, and for just the quickest second, I saw a dark thing in its place. It was hooded, like the horror movie grim reapers, but then it was gone. I felt my breath catch in my throat as the air around me constricted, just for a second. Then the air began to warm up again, and I told myself it was just my imagination, just trauma from the roof, adrenaline from the chase.
Jack squeezed my hand. It was time. The cops were cresting up over the hill and pointing in our direction. With a deep breath, we tore out of the brush and raced toward the truck where two tall, burly men with tattoos and black t-shirts were loading the truck. They obviously hadn’t expected to see us pop up because they just stood there staring, boxes in hand, and didn’t do anything as we dropped the document on the ramp of the moving truck and ran.

Deceived by L.A. Starkey
They say a soul is the immaterial essence, the animating principal, the actuating cause of an individual life. But what if you had to share yours with the one person you hated the most?
The soul mate principal states that for every one soul there is another that will recognize its match, hence creating the perfect union.
But what if you had two soul mates, which would you choose?
What if your choices had eternal ramification?
Deceived, the debut novel in the Soul Keeper Series, is a modern day love story about the implications of having more than one soul mate, and having to choose between the two of them. The decisions of the gods has left the next generation, their heirs, torn between fate and reality, and the balance of the future hangs in anticipation of what's to come. An Excerpt from the Book Maybe reading the prophecy out loud and a little slower might actually help me decipher its
meaning. Samantha exhaled loudly and began.
“In a battle of wills,
of the gods of old.
For each his revenge,
will he forfeit his soul.
On the chess board of blood,
will their narrative play.
aged, innocent lives,
revenge claims her way.
Out of hate will come love,
and love will come hate.
For immortal and man,
have entwined their damned fate.
As the time draws near,
a soul mate will speak,
And invoke its commencement,
when strong will fall weak,
And the child in the middle,
will break the seal
That is held by the fate,
who's heart cannot heal.
With death sets in motion,
a prophecy of old
Ergo seeker of heart,
and keeper of soul.
"One heart with two parts,
split between twins,
two bodies that hold,
one despondent young man.
As the battle ensues,
against himself he will stand,
her pendulum swings,
with balance in hand.
For this generation,
will affect us all,
for the same man will rise,
but he also will fall."
Sam stopped at the end of the prophecy, the room much cooler. About Laurie

Max Blizzard and the Gem of Camelot by Patrick Hatt
Max Blizzard was like any other drone living in Earth's realm until the arrival of his eighth birthday. On that day his imagination awoke and Max started thinking for himself. He was an outcast the moment he let people know about his imagination. That moment also unknowingly set forth a chain of events years in the making. By having imagination, Max had given Sir Dreadvent exactly what he wanted, a way into Camelot's realm. Now Max and his friends, Trudesile and Lester, must complete the quest that Max's father, Merlin, set out for him years ago. They must find the Gem of Camelot to defend the realm from Sir Dreadvent's and his sevesties. Their perilous journey will take them from the shores of Merlinia and the ship of Davy Jones to the fields of Avalon, in the hope that they can save Camelot, save Earth and save all the lost realms that have been consumed by Sir Dreadvent and his sevesties on their quest to remake the universe.
A tale about where your imagination can lead if you choose to follow it, with creatures large and small joining Max Blizzard on his journey. King Arthur, Oberon, Hercules, Apollo and other heroes of imagination believed to be myth will become truth as Max and his friends face the trials ahead. Let your imagination lead the way to Max Blizzard and The Gem of Camelot. "Young Mr. Blizzard, the objective is simple. The first to extinguish the flame of the other's Camelot Candle wins. You are only limited by your own imagination." King Arthur knew Max got the rules as he watched him nod, and sat back down alongside Pemestra and Lempilightess.
"Arthur, do you think it is wise throwing the boy in the deep end so soon? Vlad has been at this for years." Pemestra did not want to see Max hurt or his spirit broken in his first outing.
"Merlin constantly surprised me. Let's see what the boy can really do."
Max stared down Vlad, trying to ignore all the prying eyes that were upon him. He waited for the match to begin, listening for a bell or something, and watched as Vlad begin to concentrate, knowing that there was no bell and that match had begun.
"I'll make sure your first loss isn't too painful, runt." Vlad grinned and gripped his Camelot Candle; a huge fan appeared out of nowhere in front of him and began to blow. Before Max could do anything, his flame had been put out.
"I think that was the easiest and quickest match in history." Vlad threw his arms in the air and the crowd cheered while Max stared at his blown-out Camelot Candle.
"Don't let him get to you, dearie. The boy needs to be taught a lesson in humility. Shake it off and come out fighting," Bandaid whispered, while lighting Max's Camelot Candle again and then running back to the sidelines. An Excerpt from the Book About Patrick
Patrick Hatt can be found in the East Coast of Canada. He hates writing these things but doesn't mind talking in the third person. He dabbles in a little of this and a little of that, not afraid to attempt something new. He is owned by two cats, one of whom has his own blog, It's Rhyme Time. Yeah a rhyming cat, who knew? He would be considered a both person when it comes to cats and dogs.
He is also quite the movie and TV buff. As you can probably tell does not take himself seriously and has more stuff in his head than is needed. Thus the novels as just one more form of release. Thanks for the visit and enjoy!
