Gia Gallow has traveled the world. Her wanderlust landed her in Georgia where she has created a life for herself away from the petty differences of relatives and domineering ex-lovers. Having settled in America, she has a successful business and dear friends—and the attention of both Dane and Russell Walker. Due to her own family’s dramas over dueling hearts, she might have to forget about her feelings for Dane to keep peace within the Walker family, but sometimes even running thousands of miles away can’t keep a heart from going after what the heart wants. And Gia’s heart wants Dane.
Excerpt:
Dane awoke in his childhood bedroom with a start.
As he sat there, a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead, he realized it wasn’t that he’d heard anything to wake him—in fact, it had been too quiet.
The sun was up and warm as it filtered through the window and onto his skin.
He wiped his brow with the back of his hand and then tucked it under his head. He closed his
eyes and thought about the room.
It was his and Gerald’s room. Oh, if the walls could talk, he amused himself with the thought. They’d lived too far from town to have girls climbing in the windows, but they’d climbed out a few times. But once again, they’d lived too far from town to sneak out without being noticed.
They’d done things such as walk down to the river and fish by a full moon. There had been an
enormous tree outside the window and during a storm it could be menacing and scary. But on a
warm summer night, it was a refuge as the big branch came right to their window like a bridge to the outdoors.
There had always been two beds in the room. Sometimes they’d be pushed together for comfort, especially when that tree outside swayed in the wind. They’d also been the walls to some of the greatest forts ever built with blankets and sheets.
Long talks were had in that room. Some of those talks went well into early morning. They’d
debated over Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. There were some very serious discussions over Super Bowl XXXIII. Atlanta’s new team had gone to the big game under the coaching of Dan Reeves, and they had to play his old team, the Denver Broncos. It seemed unfair to Gerald, but Dane thought it was just. He’d been a fan of John Elway his whole life. If he thought back hard enough, he was fairly sure that when he’d taunted Gerald with Elway’s win, he’d gotten a black eye. The thought of it had him chuckling to himself in the quiet.
Talks about football and fishing soon gave to girls and talks about birds and bees. He was grateful that walls couldn’t actually talk.
No longer were there posters and drawings on the walls. His mother had redesigned the room,
he knew, for future grandchildren. The room was clean of everything but a dresser and a rocking chair. The closet door, another menacing nightmare maker, was cracked open as the door was too warped to stay closed.
Some poor grandchild would be as afraid of the abyss of the closet as he and Gerald had been.
It wasn’t long before the sound of the cattle caught his attention. He’d have to admit it was a
much better sound than early morning traffic. Then he heard the roaring of the first pickup truck engine. Surely he’d actually slept through the first. The sun was up after all, and he knew his father and brothers were up before the sun.
Dane rolled to his side and pulled the blanket up to his ear. This was why it was good to be
visiting. No one had awakened him and made him help out with the early morning chores. Suckers!
About the Author:
Bernadette Marie has been an avid writer since the early age of 13, when she’d fill notebook after notebook with stories that she’d share with her friends. Her journey into novel writing started the summer before eighth grade when her father gave her an old typewriter. At all times of the day and night you would find her on the back porch penning her first work, which she would continue to write for the next 22 years.
In 2007 – after marriage, filling her chronic entrepreneurial needs, and having five children –
Bernadette began to write seriously with the goal of being published. That year she wrote 12
books. In 2009 she was contracted for her first trilogy and the published author was born. In
2011 she (being the entrepreneur that she is) opened her own publishing house, 5 Prince
Publishing, and has released contemporary titles and has begun the process of taking on other
authors in other genres.
Bernadette spends most of her free time driving her kids to their many events. She is also an
accomplished martial artist, working her way to her second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do.
An avid reader she loves to meet readers who enjoy reading contemporary romances and she always promises Happily Ever After.

Love’s Encore
Hi folks! It gives me great pleasure to host Kathleen Ann Gallagher today with her book, Love’s Encore! To see her other Goddess Fish tour stops, please click on the banner above.
Contemporary Romance
Desire wins the lead role.
Sadie Layne, a creative and motivated high school drama teacher, is grateful for second chances. After surviving breast cancer, she embarks on a celebratory trip to LA with her two best friends. Sadie never expected to run into the handsome and charming Vince De Carlo in the hotel lobby. She hasn’t seen Vince much since they worked together in a theater company years ago. Their meeting interrupts her plans and reminds her of the life she left behind.
Vince, a struggling actor and cover model, is in LA to promote a television pilot. His old attraction to Sadie is stronger than ever. He never forgot her, even though a trusted friendship and a scripted kiss was all they’d shared.
The reunited pair give in to temptation, but reality soon collides with lust as strong doubts about their blossoming romance get in the way. Sadie dreads facing her defeat as an actress, and Vince doesn’t think a struggling actor like himself is capable of providing the accomplished teacher with what she deserves.
Will the couple find a way to keep their sizzling romance alive and build a future together? Or will their uncertainty win the lead role and smother the flames?
Excerpt:
How on earth was she supposed to explain spending the night out to her friends? Her heart told her to stay with Vince. It wasn’t as if they’d just met. Some of the students in the workshop had told her he’d had the hots for her, nevertheless, she’d insisted it was platonic. It took honesty on her part to admit she’d had a strong physical attraction to him. All these years her fairy-tale romance was right in front of her eyes, and she had looked past it to put her acting career first. Her whole world had revolved around the theater. How could she have lied to herself for so long? If she’d known her path would divert into a different direction, she might have done things differently. At the time, her goals had come before any form of romance. No more. Not this time. She was going for it. Full speed ahead, girl. So long regrets.
“You have no idea how much I want you, and I always have. You’re the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen. There is no other woman who can compare to you, Sadie.”
He trailed his tongue along her cheek and nibbled at her neck. Chills ran rampant through her body. Each gentle touch of his strong fingers along the inside of her thigh getting higher and higher. Sadie’s arousal escalated, and she wanted nothing more than to rip his clothes off. He made his way back up to her mouth, and she parted her lips to welcome his tongue. His passionate kiss intensified her longing to have all of him.
“I want you too,” she whispered softly.

Excerpt:
from The Fine Art of Keeping Quiet by Charity Tahmaseb
So we keep going, up the driveway and the three steps onto the front porch. There, the lamplight turns everything yellow, even Sam’s eyes, which look more like autumn than summer right now. I should open the door and go inside. My fingers are ice, my nose threatening to run. My teeth, which I’ve hardly thought of all day, prick at my upper lip. Insidious words pop into my mind.
Can you even imagine anyone wanting to kiss that? I can’t remember why I ever thought she was pretty.
“Thanks for helping me today,” I say despite my teeth.
“Thanks for helping me. What did I tell you? It’s like the Montagues and Capulets, only with scripts instead of swords—and a tree branch.”
I laugh.
“See you tomorrow?”
I nod.
“I’ll text you.”
We don’t move, like earlier in the garage, when it felt like the very air changed. It does that now, becomes hard to breathe. I sway forward, slightly. I don’t mean to—it just happens. Sam takes my hands, squeezes them. Then he sways forward.
His kiss is so warm, it should melt all the icicles hanging from the eaves. My heart beats so hard, it should shatter all my ribs. When he breaks the kiss, and I suck in cold air, I feel like I’m plunged from a warm dream into an icy bath.
“Tomorrow!” He dashes down the stairs and into the night.
In that single word, I hear his promise. We will see each other tomorrow. We will practice. We will … kiss?
This multi-author boxed set is on sale for just $0.99!

The Secret Door by Stephanie Burkhart

Zoltan is accused of stealing Kurt Meklau’s witch, Inna, and is recklessly followed to Volturn Manor, a residence belonging to another werewolf family, the Vargas. After a fight with Meklau, Zoltan barely escapes and his adversary is found dead.
Sophia Varga and Tomas Martin find Zoltan. Sophia is determine to attend to Zoltan’s injuries and protect her home, but when Kurt’s father, Marcus, comes seeking revenge, Sophia is tested like never before. As Zoltan and Sophia work together, attraction and desire flame between them.
Will the secrets Volturn Manor harbors offer Zoltan and Sophia the clues they need to defeat Marcus and give them the opportunity to explore their feelings for one another?
Exceprt:
Marcus sneered, then pointed at Zoltan. “He’s William’s get.”
Zoltan fisted his hand next to his body, his muscles tensing. He was face-to-face with
these disgusting man-wolves who he had nothing in common with.
Marcus gestured to his left. “My brother, Rufus.” He paused and motioned to his right.
“William. He enjoys leaving scars on his victims.”
“What do you do to your victims?” asked Zoltan, his voice cold, devoid of emotion.
“I made a few ‘gets’ before taking over from my father. I know who they are, but since
taking my father’s place, I kill my ‘gets’ now.”
“How gracious of you not to turn anyone else,” Zoltan spat.
“I am gracious. You’re an abomination. You live outside our rules. You’re an accident — a
product of my brother who can’t control his bloodlust.”
“He’s responsible for his own way.” William pointed at Zoltan. “He could have come to
us.”
“You left me for dead!” Zoltan retorted.
Marcus’ brother said nothing.
Marcus placed his hand on William’s shoulder, and his eyes narrowed into slits, glaring at
Zoltan. “You killed my son. My heir.” “He killed himself.”
“I hold you responsible for his death. Where’s the witch? His intended? Turn her over to me, and I’ll give you a quick death.”
“She made her choice. I have no intention of releasing her to you.”
“She was hand-picked by myself to marry my son. Since he is no longer living, she’ll marry me and give me a new heir.”
“Never.”
“I will destroy you, wolf.” Marcus’ voice was cold, hard. He paused. “I will take the witch–“
“You’ll do no such thing. Not while I’m here at Volturn Manor.” Sophia stepped forward with her hands clenched so tightly, her knuckles turned white. Zoltan admired her courage.
“Shut up!” Marcus took a quick step forward himself, but Sophia didn’t flinch. Her face glowered with rage.
“I’m the mistress of this manor, and those inside are under my protection.”
Zoltan’s heart soared with pride at Sophia’s strong stand before the intimidating wolf, but he readied himself to come between them if he had to. He hated the thought of Marcus getting close to her.

Earth-8-8-2: Genesis’ Rebellion
Greetings!
Today we are celebrating the release of the 2nd installment in the Earth 8-8-2 Saga, “Earth 8-8-2: Genesis’ Rebellion“.
To celebrate this release, it’s imperative to share with you the concept of birth of the Saga.
In 2014 Y. Correa was preparing a concept for the then “soon to be released” Concordant Vibrancy: Unity. Being that Y. Correa is a Multi-genre author, who’s an immense lover of Science Fiction and the theme of that anthology was unity, Y thought to herself, “Wouldn’t it be cool to unify genres and various fictional beings?“
Instantly the premise of the Earth 8-8-2 Saga was born. Part Science Fiction, part Paranormal and part Dark Drama, the Earth 8-8-2 Saga encompasses the life of a being which was created to be the Savior of Earth 882’s Mankind. Traversing parallel universes, multiple earths and various lifeforms, the Earth 8-8-2 Saga tells that tale of Genesis, a being which is a hybrid of an 882 Earthling, vampire, goddess and superhuman.
In the first installment, “Earth 8-8-2: The Genesis Project”, Y. Correa lays the foundation for the saga by telling the tale of Genesis’ creation.
In this NEWLY RELEASED installment, “Earth 8-8-2: Genesis’ Rebellion”, Y. Correa further elaborates on Genesis’ enterprise to obtain reprisal.

The beeping sound which resounded amidst the silence of the scarcely occupied room did nothing to alert anyone, for those there were already at attention. Endeavors such as these were bound to have an audience.
Three sets of eyes peered into the mammoth glass, liquid filled container that housed Project Armageddon (Code Name: Experiment Eight-eight-two-dash-five-point-one); General Townsen’s, Doctor Theodor Belt’s and Acinom Zenit’s. The tank: a matrix created to nourish and sustain Project Armageddon—grow and strengthen it to its fullest capacity.
Acinom pushed a button then flipped a switch on the rotundus supercomputer which covered over half the wall and the sound ceased.
“Acinom,” called Doctor Belt, his voice raised, as though she were in another room, “check his pulse.” Acinom’s eyes shrank to slivers, the disdain of being yelled at pestered her.
“Yes, Doctor.” Acinom reached over, pushing another button which caused a spectacle of waves and numbers to appear on the computer screen in front of them. “Normal, Doctor.” she concluded.
“Good, good.” responded the happy Doctor.
Before any more hoopla could transpire, General Townsen trumped the tangible glee in the room, his voice filled with animosity. “How much longer before Experiment Eight-eight-two-dash-five-point-one is activated?” the dryness in his tone leaving much to be desired. Acinom frowned then squinted; chomping at the bit to put him in his place, although that was not necessarily her place.
Doctor Belt interjected, “Well Commander,” he walked towards the titanic, rectangular, transparent glass cistern which had a wide array of tubes and mechanisms affixed to it, and placed his hand on the glass, as though attempting to touch his creation. “It shouldn’t be much longer.” The gleam in Doctor Belt’s eyes was akin to a maniacal scientist basking in the glory of his creation—mad and euphoric. Doctor Belt pressed his forehead to the glass and shut his eyes, then released a long sigh of gratification.
Inside the immense vessel, attached to innumerable contraptions, floated the inanimate body of being liken to an Earth 8-8-2 man, but not.
General Townsen huffed his satisfaction, turned, pivoting like a soldier about to march, and left the room.

Kaitlin’s Tale by Christine Amsden
Paranormal Romance
Kaitlin Mayer is on the run from the father of her baby – a vampire who wants her to join him in deadly eternity. Terrified for her young son, she seeks sanctuary with the hunters guild. Yet they have their own plans for her son, and her hopes of safety are soon shattered.
When she runs into Matthew Blair, an old nemesis with an agenda of his own, she dares to hope for a new escape. But Matthew is a telepath, and Kaitlin’s past is full of dark secrets she never intended to reveal.
Excerpt:
Jason is dead.
Go ahead. Say “I told you so.” You never do, but just this once could you stoop down to the level of us mere mortals long enough to sneer like a ten-year-old? Put a little hip wiggle into it and wrinkle your nose. Roll your eyes at me like I’m the biggest moron on the planet.
After all you did, in fact, tell me so.
And when you’re finished, I need you to do me the biggest favor I’ve ever asked in my life. In all likelihood, the last favor I’ll ever ask. I need you to take Jay. I need you to keep him safe, because you and Evan are probably the only two people who can. I hope that one day you can find it in your heart to love him like you love your own daughter.
Your Friend,
Kaitlin

Evil knows your name,
Navajo cop Jessica Akee finds the body of a young male sprawled in the weeds behind a convenience store on the Reservation. What at first looks like just another gang killing is a far more disturbing murder. On loan from the Phoenix PD, top cop Charlie Stone partners with Jessica to find the killer. She harbors a dark secret, but Charlie isn’t going to let her keep it…
he extends his hand,
Jessica’s younger brother runs with a Native gang, dabbles in rituals best left alone, and ignores Jessica’s pleas for him to turn away from the razor’s edge between good and evil.
and charms you into the abyss.
When her brother lifts the veil between the two worlds, the Shadow Warrior slips in seeking revenge. All that is human of Ricky is stripped away, and Jessica believes the last card has been played, but the Shadow Warrior turns his vengeance on her. Can Charlie save her before the demon claims Jessica as his own and returns to the bottom of the abyss?
Excerpt:
My younger brother’s grin was triumphant. “Don’t play yourself or me for stupid. I’m a Cobra.”
“Where were you last night?”
“Oh, so now you’re not my loving caretaker. You’re a cop.” He jacked his pants up to his waist. Buttoning and zipping with only one good hand was hard for him.
“Don’t you ever talk to me like that. Knowing where you were last night is caring for you. Answer me.”
He barked, “I was home. Mom was there. She can vouch for me. She’s working days.”
If Mom was working day shifts, she could back him up—if he was telling the truth. If he wasn’t, well, I didn’t want to think about it. “I’ll ask Mom.”
“Yeah”—he sneered—”you do that. Check up on the little bro.”
“Stop acting like a jackass. You have a family who loves you, and you have opportunities if you don’t screw them all up. Here, throw your shirt around your shoulders. I’m taking you home, and then I’m going back to work.”
“Is Mom going to be at home?” He sounded like a little boy, and his eyes were rounded with fear.
“Mom will be home after work. Would you like me to pick you up a burger? You can eat before you go to bed. I’ll call and check on you until Mom gets home.”
“Yeah, I’m hungry.”
Still not a thank you, but less mouthy. He needed help getting up on the running board and into my police unit. I drove through Burger King and then on to Mom’s house. She lived on the Nation in a weather-beaten single-wide where the three of us had grown up. I vividly remembered the day the front door banged shut behind my Dad. What I hadn’t known was his back was the last I would ever see of him.

About the Author:
I call Austin, Texas home now after working on the East and West coasts, the Rocky Mountains, and an island in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve come full circle to live and work close to the farm my family settled in the 1850’s.
Truth is stranger than fiction, and years in the news business provided lots of peculiar characters and stories to write about. My books are set in my favorite places, the desert canyons and high mountains of the American West.

Not Really Gone
Memoir
♠♠♠♠♠
I bought this book after it was nominated as Book of the Month at my book club (Rave Reviews Book Club), and I am so glad I did. What a great read. This is a memoir that takes a hard, honest look at a difficult past. It is written with insight, integrity, and-to my mind-bravery. It takes a no-holds barred approach to a troubled life without flinching or dressing it up. I also applaud the writer for the attitude of owning what she did and doing her best to make a good life. So many people in a similar situation would have blamed anybody and everybody but themselves. As this amazing woman has shown, we are only victims if we choose to be. This is a moving tribute to her now-deceased grandma who started out being the rock in the stormy sea of life, and ended up showing the writer how to be a rock for herself and her family. The narrative flows in an easy-to-read style, and while it contains difficult material, it carries a message of hope. Five stars from me.

Book Review: A Humble Heart
A Humble Heart:
Book One—The Dark World
BY TIM VANDER MEULEN
Fantasy Fiction
Reviewed on behalf of The Review Board by Harmony Kent.
I received a free PDF copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book of a trilogy, and not a standalone novel. There is no definitive ending, but more like an intermission in a long and drawn out journey, which I would hope will be concluded in the sequel.
First of all, I like the book cover: Its crossed swords and rearing horse both contradict the title, which creates intrigue for me. I also like the contrast between dark and light. Secondly, I have to mention the book blurb: it is way too long. The blurb leaves me with glazed eyes and little desire to continue on. It reads like a mini-essay.
Okay, then, on to the book itself. We have the complete set up for a fantasy of epic proportions, including magic, dwarves, elves, humans as an endangered species, evil Possessors, and all the rest that you’d expect from a book in this genre.
For a hundred years, the Elves have not known the sting of war. But now, the kingdom of men has been invaded, and two boys are all that remain of humans in the world. Can the divided Elves and Dwarves unite in this fight against an ancient foe, for which war and brutality are a necessity and not just a way of life?
Right off the bat, the narrative introduces a lot of different characters that are hard to keep track of, especially as some of those aren’t revisited until later in the book. Next up, the story is written in third person omniscient, which reads as chronic head-hopping—a big no no for me. The prose is passive in the extreme (lots of wases, weres, and starting sentences with ‘ing’ ending words), and information dumps and back-story insertion interrupt the pacing. For example, right in the middle of a scene where Possessor Gellerick is followed and surrounded by Guardians, just when the tension is mounting, we are given a paragraph with the backstory of the Guardians, which is SO NOT the place for it:
‘The disquietude that had been growing inside him over the last minute now jumped outward, and he swallowed hard … [Great so far, right? But, then …]
Legend claims that the Guardians were descendants of the high ruling Enonethtari of old times. They were peacekeepers of the land, … [And on and on it goes.]
By the time we return to the action, it’s gone well off the boil.
At just under 350 pages, this is a long book, made all the more so by such issues as outlined above, which make this a much more tedious read than it needs to be. I feel let down, as being an avid fantasy fan, I had looked forward to feasting my eyes on this gripping tale—alas, it wasn’t to be. Add to this the numerous filter words and other common technical issues, and I just didn’t enjoy this tome.
If you can overlook all of that type of stuff, though, please do give it a shot, especially if you’re an absolute fantasy fiction aficionado; you might just like it. I give A Humble Heart 6 out of 10 TRB stars, which is one up from a 5, which means ‘flip a coin and take a chance if you dare.’ This equates to 3 out of 5 stars on other rating scales.
