Cover Reveal for the third C.L. Taylor psychological thriller…
I’ve been waiting for AGES to reveal the cover of my third psychological thriller and today I received the official thumbs up from my publisher to make an announcement so…
Ta daaaaa!

THE MISSING – C.L. Taylor’s third psychological thriller (available in the UK from 21st April 2016)
I absolutely LOVE the cover. It fits beautifully with the cover design for THE ACCIDENT and THE LIE and I’m thrilled beyond words to see ‘The Sunday Times Bestseller’ above my name at the top.
The back cover blurb...

Harrogate, Holiday and Hooray (I’ve finished book 3!)
July was a ridiculously busy month. As well as working flat out on my third psychological thriller I went to the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Festival in Harrogate and to Darmouth for a family holiday.
Harrogate has to be the highlight of my writing year. Hanging out with other crime writers, going to panels and getting to lie in past 6.45am (the time my 4 year old normally wakes me up each morning) feels like a holiday in itself.
This year I went to some fantastic panels on forensics, the...

HarperCollins presents…me! (and Simon Toyne, Alex Marwood, Martyn Waites and Helen Smith)
I’ve got loads to blog about:
– the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Festival in Harrogate
– being sent the UK cover of my third psychological thriller
– subconsciously following Agatha Christie around the country (which is interesting as she’s mentioned in my book…)
but there’s no time!
I’ve just returned home from a family holiday and there’s a mountain of washing to do and a small, grubby child to bathe (my child, I should add) so here’s a quick link to the video I mentioned in my last post...

Festivals, Filming and Parties
I’m still head down, writing the first draft of my third psychological thriller and am over 71,000 words in (so am approaching the home straight) but I have managed to escape from my desk for several very exciting events in June and July.
In June I went to the Worcester Literary Festival where I chaired a crime panel with Sarah Hilary, Clare Mackintosh and Alex Marwood. We had a great turn out and a wonderful evening. The audience were really warm and engaging and there was a lot of laughter...

BritCrime – an exciting, new online crime festival coming soon!
I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be taking part in BritCrime – an exciting new online crime festival for fans of crime and thrillers. BritCrime was dreamed up by crime writer Helen Smith who ‘founded BritCrime to provide free, accessible events that every reader can attend, wherever they live.’
From 11th to the 13th July over 40 crime authors including Sarah Hilary, Alex Marwood, Mason Cross, Clare Mackintosh and Eva Dolan will be taking part in events on Facebook and Twitter and you can...

The Lie: a bestseller in Ireland!
A big thank you to Margaret Bonass Madden for getting in touch yesterday to let me know she’d spotted THE LIE in the Sunday Irish Times bestseller chart. It’s #10! None of my books have ever charted in Ireland before so I’m doubly delighted.

The Lie – number ten in the Irish bestseller charts
Last week I received three gorgeous hardback copies of the Italian version of THE ACCIDENT – Il Confine del Silenzio. Huge thanks to Longanesi, my Italian publisher. I think the cover is striking and I h...

The Lie: And it just gets better…
It’s been nearly a month since my last blog post. I thought the excitement surrounding the launch of THE LIE would have died down by now but, if anything, things have become even more exciting.
THE LIE charted at #11 in the Sunday Times bestseller chart after a part week of sales then shot up to #5 after a full week. My little book was up in the top 5 with literary legends like Lee Child, Stephen King and Ian McEwan. I couldn’t believe it!
Since then it’s dropped a few positions but, four we...

The Lie: The most incredible month ever…
Many authors face the impending publication of a new book with conflicting emotions, the two most dominant being excitement and fear, and I was no different in the run up to the publication of THE LIE. My debut psychological thriller THE ACCIDENT was so well received last year I thought there was no way THE LIE would do half as well. I don’t know if that’s because there’s a certain amount of self preservation in hoping for the best and expecting the worst or if giving up my day job in Decembe...

The Lie: Book trailer…Steven Spielberg I’m not…
Last year I had a lot of fun using stock images and a soundtrack to cobble together a very short book trailer for THE ACCIDENT.
This year I bought a handheld video camera and filmed a trailer for THE LIE. It’s deliberately ‘home made’ looking. What do you think?
Yesterday I was delighted to find a recommendation for THE LIE on the first page of THE SUN’s Fabulous magazine. Huge thanks to the editor, Sinead McIntyre, for including it.

The Lie sharing a page with Patsy Kensit in The Sun on Su...

The Lie: Research into Animal Shelters…
Apologies to anyone who visited last week looking for the article on ‘Women Who Kill’ that I promised in my previous blog post. Illness and Easter wiped out a lot of writing time so I spent what little time I had writing my third psychological thriller, The Forgetting. I’m hoping to hit 20,000 words by the end of this week. Only 2,661 words to go.
Unfortunately I haven’t got time to write that article now but I do highly recommend the book Women Who Kill: Profiles of Female Serial Killers by...
