First and foremost I want to wish a very happy happy birthday to His Holiness the Dalai Lama @dalailama , who turned 80 years old today! It is him and his amazing compassion that helped solidify my love of Buddhism at a young age, and to this day, he continues to do so.

The core of his teachings are also what led to these necklaces made by the fantastic @wearetribeofdreamers that feature the Tibetan words for LOVE, LIGHT, PEACE, and HOPE on the front and my poetry on the back.

They are still on sale over at tribeofdreamers.co so head over or click the link in @wearetribeofdreamers bio to buy. In honor of the 80th birthday of @dalailama I will give a % of each sale to the FreeTibet.org campaign.

Miniature explosions on marbled skies. The sounds of elation and awe from voices too young to be unimpressed. The slowly wafted scent of sulfur and heat. The birth of a nation celebrated centuries later with fireworks and barbecues. Family, family at the heart of it all. Always.

All creatures deserve our love and highest respect. All beings have earned our compassion. This beautiful Swallowtail Butterfly was drowned in my dogs summertime plastic swimming pool when I found her. I held her for about 25 minutes, blowing on her wings to dry them off, before placing her in the sunshine. After another 20 minutes of helping her out she found her feet again, and then trusted her wings (broken but still strong) and flew away.

I may or may not have cried. :)
