Seeing this will never stop blowing my mind socks off. This was snapped by @alenamichelle in an airport in Bali and that is crazy to me. Also makes me a little hot as a potato because it’s been to Bali before I have. Lucky. Thank you for all the support on my first book, Chasers Of The Light, it means the world. If you don’t have it, you can snag one at bit.ly/ChasersOfTheLight

Typewriter Series #1769 by Tyler Knott Gregson

Text for Tired Eyes and Frustrated Humans:

We were open arms once, we, this group
that came without invitation and outstayed
our welcome, now we are the irony
of walls built, of cruel and terrible bans,
to hold in all us who didn’t belong here
in the first place.
We cannot become stranded arms and silent voices
belonging to amputated souls;
there are monuments, crowned and robed,
weeping, with each painfully slow
and well rehearsed signature
that finds its way onto thick card stock,
before being shown to cameras, machine gun
shutter sounds capturing the slow fall
of this empire.  He signs in blood,
but is too cowardly to use his own,
he signs in blood, but it is ours.

We were open arms once, a harbor
in the tempest of a world still growing,
but are still not the oasis of freedom
in the desert of oppression.  We came, we
fell in love with the wide oceans of prairies
and mountains aflame in evening color and light,
and we stayed.  We came but still struggled,
and struggle still, to hold high the truth
that everyone, everywhere was created equal.

We were open arms once, we must not become
the arrogant, ignorant, aggressive crossing of them.
This is not freedom, this is not the foundation
we should have been built upon.  We were open arms once,
welcome all to a land that never belonged to us,
we must open them again, we must scream until steam
soaked in honest blood leaves our lips.  We were open arms
once, open yours and link them with mine.
We shall not stop, we will not ever stop fighting.

Through the chaos of these times, I will find the beauty. I will...

Through the chaos of these times, I will find the beauty. I will stop and glance skyward and notice the spin of the life we share. I will feel far off soil under these feet and I will allow my soul to grow. I will seek to understand adversity and never shy away from it, no matter the cost, no matter the response it may bring. I will remain kind whether or not kindness has been earned. This is a magic life, not one painted with illusion, and I will do all I can to keep showing that. I will love you, all of you, those who fly away, and those who stay. I promise.

I am angry, and I am heartbroken, and I am disgusted, and I am...

I am angry, and I am heartbroken, and I am disgusted, and I am embarrassed. This is not freedom. This is not ok. This is cruel, and this is disgraceful, and this is the edge of a cliff the world swore we’d never let ourselves, OURSELVES, stand at again. A man in the highest position of power our country can afford him, signs a refugee ban on Holocaust Remembrance Day. Human beings are detained in airports on United States soil, questioned, and arrested, for nothing other than trying to come home. Human beings representing Islam, a religion of PEACE, are singled out, outcasted, and threatened, based on nothing more than fear, ignorance, and arrogance that comes only with such privilege that truth can cease to exist, or matter. This is not ok and I refuse to be quiet, we must all refuse to be quiet. This is the edge of the cliff we swore that we’d never come to again, and we’re being pushed at gun point further and further towards it. With tears in my eyes I beg you, fight this, fight it with kindness, compassion, empathy, but fight it with ACTION. Call the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives at (202) 224-3121, donate to the @aclu_nationwide who need all the help they can get and just won a Temporary Stay against this madness tonight, but will be up against it again before we can blink, contact your local representatives, all of them, and demand change, leave comments on the official White House Facebook page, since he’s blocked phone calls. Do these things, Act, but do more, treat everyone around you who doesn’t have the privilege you do with protection, with respect, with kindness and with empathy. This is NOT freedom, this is Not who we are. Demand change. #NoBanNoWall #MuslimBan

If you needed proof that I am 20 shades of looney tunes, here it be. The scariest part, was how quickly all these characters decided to present themselves to me while recording all these. It’s like they were all waiting patiently in line in my brain, just waiting their turn. Alas, meet the family.
