Craving adventure, and deciding that chasing salmon around offshore was the best use for his psychology degree, Richard Bard found that work on an ever-changing ocean was all he'd been hoping for. Twenty-five years of challenge and exhilaration along the coasts of Alaska and Washington followed. More recently, using his captain’s license, he has taken up delivering sail and power boats, winding up in places as far-flung as Halifax, Bermuda, Panama, Papeete, Yokohama, and Brisbane.
