Show, Don’t Tell is a Metaphor? Phew!

Over ten odd years of writing, I have been told ‘Show, Don’t Tell’. The latest term I’ve heard it called is Deep POV. I looked it up and, yes, when I show, it tends to be Deep POV. Okay, not all the time. I try to, but my writing is not drowning in Deep POV. There are other considerations. The information I need to convey; the hints I want to give readers, details not necessarily forefront in my character’s POV. I pick and choose what I show, show (Deep POV), and what I tell. Sometimes I forg...

UPCOMING RELEASE: CRASHING DOWN TO EARTH BY TERRY REID

crashingdowntoearth

Terry Reid is twenty-five, based in Dumfries, south-west Scotland, and publishing her third book, CRASHING DOWN TO EARTH.

Your cover is amazing, Terry. I have an impression of clashing swords in the Scottish Highlands. Tell us about the story.

Shimmer In The Dark: Rogue Genesis Cover Concept Poll

Help me choose my cover concept for my debut science fiction / fantasy novel Rogue Genesis, the first in my Shimmer In The Dark series. I love the sky city concept, but there’s a whole epic apocalytic metaphysical concept going on in the other option. Is it better in dark muted colors, or the more vibrant coloring?

Choose your favorite cover!

Leave me your comment and vote! Many thanks for your interest. Don’t forget to check out my 5* reviews at Goodreadsand my book blurb.

My Writing Tips

26th April 2013

It is a weed. It smothers the true intent of a sentence. Dig it out and replace it with substance and beauty.
