June Bugs
They are big, buzzy and want in. They're dive-bombing my screen. And there are two distinct types this year--one golden, the other iridescent green. They have big heads with feathery antenna over each eye that look like ox horns. Yes, I've looked this closely. It's my job to examine the world and report back to my readers:) I am totally not into bugs and should an ant happen to crawl on me I will

Amazon Reviews (ETHAN-which is a free download this week at Amazon!):
5.0 out of 5 stars THIS is much better August 7, 2013 By misslaneus Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchasewhile the opening in the series was a good book the ending left (for me) much to be desired. This, however, is a complete and concluded piece. no problem here, characters are strong/weak/confused/decisive ... human. There were no mysterious serial killers here so both of these humans could get on with being just that. I loved it and anxiously await the next. bravo ms. Kelley 5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting! Great Read! September 19, 2013 By Michele Ahmed Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified PurchaseThis is a book I would recommend if you have an afternoon and a craving for romance and adventure. Once you pick it up you would have a difficult time putting it down! 4.0 out of 5 stars Good December 20, 2013 By elgato Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified PurchaseThis was so much better than book one. This was easier to get into and I gobbled it up quickly. Keep 'em coming!

ETHAN-Free e-Book
Starting tomorrow, ETHAN, book 2 of the California Dreamy series, will be available at Amazon for free (e-book only). I'm running the promo Monday-Friday this week, as we get closer to releasing JUDE (book 3 in the series) and hope everyone who downloads will return to Amazon and enter your review of the book. Your reviews are very important to me--as many of you may remember, the reviews from JAKE (book 1) guided my writing for ETHAN. I want my readers happy and the only way I can work on that is to hear from you! So please review--let me hear about what you loved and what you would have liked to see in ETHAN, or would like to see in future novels.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Liana
I love her. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. What I know about her:
she is 26 years oldshe is American-born of Chinese and Scottish parentsshe grew up in a brownstone in San Francisco, the only child of her father (oceanographer) and mother (school teacher)her aunt June and cousin Evie came to live with them after her uncle died; although 8 years separated them, Liana and Evie became quite closeLiana graduated from college, loves the ocean and is an avid kayaker
But what is her career? Any suggestions appreciated.
BTW, Liana is featured in JUDE, book 3 of the California Dreamy series.

Another Great Read...

I love this mystery series. It has the cozy qualities of family and a small community and no graphic violence (in addition to a mystery that unfolds with satisfying intensity).

Why is it we all know his name?
I was never into battle cries or the history between our nations and he died long before I even became aware he existed, but it's quotes like this one that make me realize why some of us live on in the memories of the masses--
"Continuous effort--not strength or intelligence--is the key to unlocking our potential."
--Winston Churchill
A good quote to meditate on whenever I have a difficult time settling down at the computer and the voice in my head is screaming, "Just Write It Already!"

Putting it Out There
My dream schedule, the incredible balancing act, etch it in stone so that everyone can see, and watch it come to pass, the way I would like to live my life:
5:00 am Rise and spend an hour with God
6:00 am Jog
6:50 am Shower
7:00 am Get the kids up, make their breakfast, cuddle with them
8:15 am Drive the kids to school
9:00 am Write
11:30 am Lunch and emails, etc.
12:00 pm Write
1:30 pm Focus on charitable commitments
2:15 pm Pick kids up from school
3:00 pm Homework, ice skating, cuddle, games=Mommy time
6:00 pm Dinner
6:45 pm Showers, read with the kids
8:30 pm Get kids to bed
8:45 pm Read
10:00 pm Sleep
Of course, I'll need a few hours out of the week to handle the business side of writing. I would like to have lunch with my mom once a week, or have our nails done, something that gives us quality time together.
While I am doing some of the things I listed, I need to make a serious shift of time and commitments. And with the New Year coming on, there's no better time to start, right?
My blog is my stone tablet.

We all have a blank slate. In this circumstance, let each of us be the kid who won't share his crayons.

Why is a Snowy Night Romantic?
There's something peaceful about it. Something hushed. Something that makes a person feel very singular, unless they're with the one they love.
I think about snow maybe one week out of the year.
And then it becomes a memory.
