Free PDF for a review!

OKAY, everyone!! I'm FINALLY giving away FREE copies (PDF) of my novel "The Call of the Deep" to the first 50 people who PM me and agree to post a review (long or short) here on Goodreads and on Amazon, if possible. I'm in dire need of reviews (the ones I DO have are pretty decent, I just need more!)

Here's a recent review: (Thanks Lettee!!) http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Book Trailer!

So, I'm working on a book trailer at the moment. What an ordeal! I'm soooo determined to make it NON-cheesy but it's not an easy thing to do!! I've seen many horrible book trailers so at least I know what NOT to do, lol. It's still difficult though. Wish me luck!!

I'll keep you posted!

To Vent or Not to Vent?

Hi all! Welcome to my first (and hopefully not last) post!

So let's cut straight to the venting, shall we?

I just finished reading a seemingly popular ebook and I'm somewhat baffled at how it got such great reviews! Sure, I'm a new author and perhaps don't have the experience or knowledge that others have, but WOW. I'm so disappointed and shocked that I didn't even want to write an official review! So I'm venting here and leaving the book's identity a mystery. (Okay, anyone who does a little investigating might figure it out, lol)

So here it is...

The story idea and beautiful book cover had me intrigued from the start and I was excited to read it. A few chapters in, I was like, "Hmm... didn't this author use an editor/editing program/anything of the like?? It was more like a decent first draft. I kept wanting to rewrite sentences and even cut certain ones out completely.

As I read further, I wondered if the author was in a rush, perhaps trying to meet a deadline? Everything happened so quickly. Bam-bam-bam and the story was over! No time to get to know the characters or find anything believable at all. I felt like the author had a great story idea, but quickly slapped it together with a few good scenes and called it a day.

I really hate being so negative, but I have to vent and release some frustration over this. I suppose I should focus more on the things I liked about the story, right? Once I got past the weak writing, I did enjoy a few parts and story details that made it unique. Obviously, it wasn't that bad - I did finish it (mainly to see if my predictions for the ending were correct. (They were)

Anyways, if no one even reads this post, it's all the same to me. I'm just glad I could get all this off my chest without actually posting an official review.

I promise my next posting will be more positive and uplifting! And it will probably have nothing to do with books or reading.

Maybe I'll post a recipe.

Good night!
