Thursday’s Special: Landscape

http://bopaula.wordpress.com/2014/10/... Today Paula’s photo is from Poland; and, together with Ann-Christine’s galleries from Gdansk, it makes me realize that Poland must be a country to be visited (by those young enough !). For the Stringer contribution: we were in the grounds of the ruined Castello di Civitella di Val di Chiano, and I am far […] Continue reading →

A year of library talks

Three left to go, as you can see on my events pagedown at the bottom(ish). After Castle Hill I’m going to walk away from all that. I think I’ve just about done my dash with publicizing Atlmd via the haranguing of people in libraries.:) Mind you, I’ve been enjoying it mightily: one doesn’t often find […] Continue reading →

The beauty of butterflies

Photography Patrizia Mezzogori My friend Pat is a dab hand at insects through the lens ! Who doesn’t like butterflies ? – and who doesn’t want to see them up REALLY close and feeding on nectar …? No-one. Right.:)Filed under: Blogosphere Tagged: butterflies, http://patriziaphoto.wordpress.com/, photography

Tuesdays of texture

I recently, with pleasure !, added Narami to my list of followed blogs, as recommended by my friend Sucheta. This is Narami’s“non-challenge”:http://narami.wordpress.com/2014/10/2..., and it’s another that appeals to me. Here’s my entry for today: I LOVE the texture of this little loaf I used to make: it’s just like Italian bread ! (As to why […] Continue reading →

365 days: who would have thought ?

One look and I yelled “Timber ! – watch out for flying glass …” Cause the ceiling fell in and the bottom fell out, I went into a spin and I started to shout “I’ve been hit ! This is it, this is it !” That’s really for H, of Master of Something I’m Yet […] Continue reading →

Another contretemps with those wicked words

I’d been racking my brain for ages about how to get across to this blogging community that I want the date of everyone’s birthday. As I sat there pondering the problem, I realised it was time to get the troops working … I sighed. If only it weren’t such a goddam struggle …! “Hokay !” I called, clapping my hands in true Head Prefect style: “ pay attention, you guys !” There was a kind of floor-level murmuration, and they started to come to life – not with willingness, I’m obliged to admit. The...

Today’s birthday !

Sue of Travel Tales of Life! Our Canadian mate turns 103 today ! . … . . . .. …….. . . ….. …. ?? Oh, apparently I’m wrong about that.[grin] She and her husband have just got back from Italy, so I can scarcely speak for the jealous rage that rises in my gorge. However, I find I can at least wish her A VERY, VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear Sue !!! You’ve brought us all brightness, a positive outlook and a marvellous understanding of the joys of travel (albeit sometimes less than joyful More…

Black & White Sunday: Looking up

http://bopaula.wordpress.com/2014/10/... Today for Paula’s non-challenge we’re in la bellissima Roma – Stringer’s favourite city in the world. And not only that, but in his favourite BUILDING in the world ! We are twice-blessed. :-) He was, as I’ve said before, a huge fan of the Romans and their achievements; and the Pantheon must be considered one of the greatest. So here’s the small version of this rather wonderful shot (if I do say so myself, who most certainl...

Diana’s bushwalk, Flinders Ranges

I’ve been agonising over the DropBox contents of Diana’s hundreds of photos, and managed – finally ! – to reduce them to about 80, and then down to something like 30. There’s no possibility of removing any more ! Diana herself may be grumpy that I’ve included one or two, as they aren’t what she would see as ‘the best'; but these are the frames that speak to me and give me the most joy, regardless of any possibility of less than perfect focus or whatever. She sent them down all nicely categori...
