You have to have feeling

It is not enough to know your craft – you have to have feeling. Science is all very well, but for us imagination is worth far more. Edouard Manet So there you are: you’ve been told – and by a master.   :)   And it’s true, of course: ask any dedicated person who knits or crochets – or…

Oh my – 87,000 followers !

Here’s a crochet person who seems to have done pretty well with her blog … [gasp !] It’s a lovely, calm kind of blog, in which she talks patterns and stitches, inter alia.  I have a terrible weakness for collecting stitch patterns: check out my collection in Bookmarks … (You see my link to all…

Effie and Phyllis

My Brisbane friend DMN, who comes down to visit every so often (is that friendly, or what ?!), once brought with her a medum-sized pot containing soil and a strange, long, green … thing. It was a bit like a three-cornered spear; and about 20 cm long (high ?). She handed it over and told…

Moving on down the line …

There are several things I’m really interested in other than crochet and knitting – or should I say, as well as C&K. These include gardening; at which I am embarrassingly bad, bugger it. Since arriving in this town at the end of April 2016 I’ve lived in no less than five different units; and my…

It’s been almost 5 years

And during all that time, I’ve been visiting blog-sites of knitters and crocheters and often wishing I had my own blog once more, so that I could talk about them and their craft/s. And there is always, I’m sorry to have to admit, a bit of a need to simply rave on about — something.…

A re-start after nearly 5 years

Everything new is old again.

My header image is of part of Sydney Harbour — a view I pondered upon every morning during my 45′-long walk around Pyrmont’s wharves. That was around … oh, 8 or so years ago; and I must assume with sadness that this particular view doesn’t exist any more. Nor would most of the CBD, almost next to which Chic and I lived for 13 years, and I for 10 more after he died.

I’m not that person any more – just as everyone gradually changes, so I have done. I live down in so...

Try to imagine …

Having a quasi-feral mog; one from a litter of strays that were all going to be put head down in a bucket but were saved by a soft-hearted woman (you’re quite correct – it was not I) who passed one of them to me, needy as I was of a cat. No way I could’ve shared a dwelling with a person; but a cat ? – perfect.

Imagine him growing under my “care”. This alternated, I will admit, between giving him squashing hugs and loud kisses, and shouting at him to leave me alone. I don’t think this would’ve...

Already I’m in love

This PLACE ! – this SUBURB ! – these BIRDS !

I can say with certainty that I have not been so happy since Chic died. He’d be tickled pink.

Tomorrow I move for the 5th time

And I mean since I came down to Geelong, at the end of April 2016.

There aren’t too many things to be said about such insanely peripatetic behaviour. So don’t even try to think of a response.

Five different addresses in 2 years. And only one I’ve been happy in – for a while. Before the neighbour on the other side of a common wall began with the insufferable noise.

Of course the problem is that with my more than somewhat limited income (the age pension), it’s not possible to rent a nice place....

Stopped with the Beginners

But should I have …?

They gave me stuff to do that irked me: change my titling ? — I don’t think so.

Drop in on the neighbours ? — I so loathe having people turn up unexpectedly that I really don’t have the words, so why would I be welcome ?

Oh — you mean, visit blogs ?! Now, that’s the reason I stopped blogging all those years ago: I didn’t have the time or the inclination to read only the gods know how many other posts. I mean, there are people who followed me for reasons I never grasped, a...
