5* Endurance

So much happens as Regina tracks her way back across the country with the hopes of bartering for her sister. Realizations hit; reunions, as well as a much needed bed, appear. Regina has two agents/inspectors hot on her trail, and she does lose some friends along the way, as well sitting in a cell for a while. Sheesh! It almost feels like Regina cannot catch a break! A much needed break, at that! Demarco and Volpe are the ones after Regina, and they do catch up to her. But we all know Regina can get away, hopefully in one piece, if she can.

This was rather suspenseful; I was on the edge of my seat while I read this. Some questions still remained unanswered, but I am sure those will come in the next book. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to see Antarctica. Perhaps the Regina Shen book will be my way to travel there.

Defiance Review #4

The further I get into this story the more I grow connected with the character and the storyline. Regina continues to amaze me with her strength. She is a true leader. I appreciate the relationship between Ester and Regina, even if it is really one-sided. I do agree with another reader on the fact that I found Ester at times to be more of a hinder than help. Yet I could see why Regina let Ester come along as in a way she was watching over her and protecting her like a sister as she couldn’t do that for her own sister, Colleen. Chief Inspector Demarco is quite the wild card. She had her own agenda that only she really knew about. I am glad I was not the one she was hunting after. Although I had all the faith in Regina. She has come out on top before and I am sure she will again. The addition of the new characters was nice. Then there is the reappearance of Regina’s mother. The event that has led her back into Regina’s life adds intrigue to the whole storyline. Plus the new terrain was refreshing as well. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Vigilance Review #4

The first book, Resilience was fine. I thought it had an alright pacing and the author did a good job of introducing me to this world and Regina. Yet with this second book I am thrilled to have read it. I was able to instantly connect with all of the characters better. So far I thought that this book was better than the first. Regina is shaping out to be a strong leader. Regina’s hunt for her sister, Colleen brings her even closer in this book. With Mo-Mere’s experience with the Federation she was the perfect teacher for Regina. Not that I doubt that Regina would not be able to survive on her own but her cover would have been blown a lot sooner if it had not been for Mo-Mere. Mo-Mere is like Yoda with her wisdom. This is a perfect reference as this series has that nice futuristic feel to it that fans of these types of books will enjoy.

In the first book I learned about the Federation but in this book I actually got to really see what the Federation is really all about. The change in scenery was nice. Instantly I could picture all of the locations In addition, I like that there are the main staple characters so I can keep that established relationship with them while getting to meet some new ones like Ester. Although at times I was a little frustrated with Ester she came off meek. Yet as the story went on, Regina’s strength did rub off on Ester. I can’t wait to read the third book in this series to see if Regina will be able to take down the Federation.

5* Resilience

This book follows young Regina Shen, a Hispanic-Chinese, a Marginal girl in a very futuristic Richmond . . . California or Virginia? She lives in the swamps and whenever there is a huge storm that causes a flood, if the Marginals are not fully prepared (properly), they are swept out to sea. Yikes! Don’t get stuck on the lower parts of the swamps when a storm comes.

Mo-Mere (Ms. Seville) is Regina’s teacher, and was originally from the other side of the Wall. Regina looks up to Mo-Mere like another mother; she believes this is because Mo-Mere might be her donor mother, but that is not the case. Mo-Mere knows that Regina has potential to survive living on the other side of the Wall.

Rating: 5 of 5 Stars.

This book definitely got me hooked in Sci-Fi/Dystopia. I say it often, it really does take a good book to get me to like a specific genre. This book definitely did that for me. It is a good thing I was able to jump right into the next book in the series, I do not think I would have been able to cope without knowing what comes next.

Defiance Review #3

Regina is caught between Rival Federation Agents. With this going on she is forced to flee to Alaska from Virginia. She is in pursuit of something worth enough to save her sister and gain her sister’s freedom.

This book in the series is so far my favorite. The characters are becoming a lot more developed. The storyline has become more detailed without being too much. The book is full of adventure. It is difficult to put into words how much the author has progressed in his writing skills. This book will take the reader to Regina’s land. It was really a great book.

This is a great series of books for people who like this genre. This book I give four out of five stars. There are a few curse words just to be warned but not many.

Good job to the author

Lance Erlick in his new book, “Regina Shen:  Vigilance” Book Two in the Regina Shen series published by Finlee Augare Books continues the adventure with Regina Shen.

“Regina Shen:  Vigilance” is loaded with twists and turns that will leave you guessing all the while you are flipping pages to find out what happens next. Get ready Mr. Erlick has given us a fast-paced thriller filled with action, and great suspense. I am so looking forward to the next book with Regina and the rest of this cast of characters.

Resilience Review

Set in the future, Erlick does a great job showing us a world that has been destroyed by climate change and greedy people. It was definitely not a place that I wanted to visit, but I was still intrigued by the world nevertheless. The only thing that I was confused about was how they reproduced, since it sounded like there weren’t many men or they were held captive. I didn’t quite follow and wished that was a little clearer, or I could have simply missed that explanation.

Our heroine, Regina Shen, is a very strong character that you want to root for throughout the entire story.

The plot flowed nicely and I read it all in one sitting as it kept me enthralled. I really enjoyed it and will definitely check out the rest of the series. There was a lot of tense areas in the book that left me gripping my kindle tightly.

Endurance Review #2

There are two bad guys that are chasing Regina Shen all across the country. Regina is not only on the run she is trying to catch and free her sister. Once again I think Mr. Erlick has given us a fast-paced thriller filled with lots of action and suspense. “Regina Shen:  Endurance” is loaded with twists and turns that will leave you guessing all the while you are flipping pages to find out what happens next. I recommend that you go to the bathroom, take the phone off the hook and make a big bowl of popcorn because once you get started reading you will not want to put this book down until you actually finish. I am so looking forward to the next book to see where Mr. Erlick will take these characters.
