While perusing reviews, it occurred to me that I think it's unfair, if not a bit rude, to call another's writing "lazy" just because they choose to write in a style and manner than you can't appreciate. Take omniscient and frequent POV switches for instance. How can anyone call either "lazy writing"? That's like calling Sidney Sheldon and Harold Robbins "lazy" writers! No one can dispute either's success, so I feel it's inappropriate to call the style and manner of such writing "lazy".
You may not like omniscient or frequent POV switches, and that's your prerogative, but who are you to label such writing as "lazy"?
Do I write in an omniscient POV with switches? Yes, upon occasion, if it fits the story.
Has someone called my writing lazy? No, not yet...but I'm sure it's coming!
