“The measure of a friendship is not its physicality but its significance. Good friendships, online or off, urge us toward empathy; they give us comfort and also pull us out of the prisons of our selves.”

johanna7mason:

So I’ve already made one GIF for the Art Assignment #3, but I had the time to do another one and to highlight another thing that is indispensable and intimate to me: my TSWGO bracelet.

I think the This Star Won’t Go Out bracelets really mean different things to everyone who wears them. Sure, the money for buying them goes to the cause and it advertises the charity, but my bracelet means more to me than just that. It keeps a little piece of Esther Earl and Nerdfighteria along with me wherever I go, but it’s still more important than just that. When I wear it, it reminds me to look at the world through Esther’s eyes, and to approach my life the same way that Esther did hers. I think This Star Won’t Go Out was one of the most important and influential books I’ve ever read. I tend to be a very pessimistic and cynical person sometimes, but Esther’s voice taught me to be more positive. So when I wear this bracelet, it reminds me to be more loving to the world and to look at life in a different, brighter, prospective.

can’t wait for people to start asking me what it means so i can tell them all about Esther and hopefully encourage more people to support the cause, so that Esther can continue to decrease world suck and make a measurable difference even though she’s not with us anymore.
