Another drawing

Skinny tie, ripped jeans and leather straps around the wrists.... No price for guessing which decade this was drawn in. And with a rotring pen, ughh! Okay, I'll rewatch old a-ha videos now...

Stolen Kisses

Jean-Pierre Léaud is discharged from the army. He goes back to his old girlfriend and gets a job as a private detective. Directed by François Truffaut.

It's very much a French film. As a detective, Léaud doesn't try to find a missing person or stolen jewelry, the client rather wants to know why nobody likes him. There's a constant distance to the characters - we never find out why they behave the way they do. The ending itself is quite enigmatic, with lots of questions left unanswered. There are also some very funny and charming scenes. The scene at the breakfast table, where Léaud and his girlfriend write notes to each other is a real movie moment. The film opens and ends with a catchy song by Charles Trenet and made me want to rush out to the nearest record store and get one of his cds.

Old drawings, new blog

I've decided to put the old drawings, done in my teens, between 79 and 85, on another blog, here: http://theoldcatandthedog.blogspot.com/
Yes, it's another awful Hemingwayrelated pun, please accept my apologies. It will be sort of an art project, I guess, that might not appeal to everybody, but the idea is that putting up two or three drawings will be a bit interesting, putting up one hundred drawings might hopefully be at least slightly more interesting. In theory, at least. The drawings will be more or less put up in chronological order. Some drawings are not dated so I will just have to guess where they fit. There will be lots of awkwardly drawn superhero drawings, doodles, strips and later full pages that I drew for the humour magazine Konk, some published, some rejected.

Paul McCartney

This illustration was done for a Norwegian music paper, in the late 80s, but never used.

Old drawings

The first drawing, from 79, is copied from a Neal Adams Batman story, the second drawing, from 83, is influenced by Serge Clerc. Apparently, there was some progress in drawing skills.
