Tackle Your TBR Challenge and Giveaway!
My TBR pile is ever growing and this is such a great event to inspire us all to tackle our lists, read more, and enjoy books in general! Of course, with all the wonderful suggestions and giveaways, my pile grows faster than I can read – but that’s part of the fun too.
So the challenge today is to name a book you have always meant to read, but haven’t… And really may not ever get around to reading, if we’re going to be very honest…
Me? Pillars of the Earth. I have heard so many wonderful things about Ken Follet’s story, but its 983 pages have intimidated me completely. Then I went and saw the movie! That’s the worst — for now I feel I know the story and can move on. Yet, as well done as it was, I’m not sure eight episodes adequately covered Follet’s four hundred years and almost a thousand pages of description and development. I use the movie to console myself, however, for I suspect, I’ll never the crack the spine on my long sitting copy…
And, in the spirit of full disclosure… Tolstoy’s War and Peace sits next to it. 1296 pages. Need I say more?

This will be very brief today – because life gets busy at the end of summer. I’m not sure why, but as summer ends, I find there are many many things I planned to do, didn’t do, but must be done. I kinda hope you feel the same… Otherwise I really am alone out there. But as the kids are going back to school, I’m pulling my act together…
