Inspiration

Where does one find the inspiration to write?  What do you write about?  Where do you begin?

All interesting questions that I've been asked a lot since Bite Marks hit the e-book market.

And to be honest,  I have no magic answers for you...seriously I do not.

Everybody finds inspiration in different and unique ways.  For me a lot comes from things I see and hear at work or when I am out shopping.  The silliest comment makes me think one simple phrase...

What would happen if...

Sometimes it turns into something brilliant, and sometimes it does not.  But you never know unless you ask yourself...

what would happen if...

Poetry 4

I wish things in life were as simple
As writing words on a page
The control to change things as easy
As simply creating what is wanted
And erasing what is not liked
But life simply does not work like that
All scenes are written and sealed
The control we think we have
Is a joke - not real or imagined
As the words on a page become blurred.

Writing...otherwise known as staring at a blank screen

So you've written your first book and it is available for sale.  You're waiting for the results of all the hard work you put into the creation of that first novel.
So now what...
If you're like me you're thinking it's time to start working on the next novel project...but where to begin?
For me it's embracing a new method of writing a first draft by utilizing my laptop.
I can hear you snickering, admit it.  But growing up computers were not thought of until I was in high school and brand new.  Definitely not the sleek little devices we use today.
So it's time to grab a drink (for me it's Cheerwine the best soft drink on the planet) turn the computer on and get to work.

and stare at the blank screen with it's blinking cursor just sitting there, mocking me.
............
............
............
............
Two hours later, after having checked Facebook and playing several hands of solitaire, I'm still staring at the same blank screen with it's blinking cursor...and it's still mocking me.

So I do the only thing I can do, which is shut off the computer, grab a notebook and my favorite gel pen and curl up in my favorite recliner and get to work on the next novel.

Why change a good routine if it works!

Poetry 3

Darkness surrounds me
leading me deeper in
Showing me a world that's alien
but drawing me deeper in

Darkness surrounds me
filling my soul with each breath I take
Changing me with every step I take
stripping away the layers of my soul

Darkness surrounds me
but now I feel at peace within it
A place where I now can belong
and let my true self run free
