Dragon’s Disciples for NOOK
Hello my darlings,
I completely forgot I had a math test tomorrow. So I am not studying for it … because I am bad. Instead, I am going to share a picture of Shrukian.
That, and I have started outlining The Hollow Living. It is going to be epic, epic, so epic. I am actually quite excited. Meanwhile, I am planning a virtual blog tour for the release of The Heretic Priest. More on that later.
Not much up to date, except that The Dragon’s Disciples is now available for the Nook. Find it HERE. So my lovely e-reader group … now it is even more accessible!
So with that, I leave you with a picture of Shrukian. I’m not even sure if I like this picture or not, but it took me hours. It’s been one of those days. Goodnight.

First author interview! Promotional bookmarks, new poll!
Hello my darlings!
Well, it is official! My first author interview is up and running for the world to see! Only when reading back do you realize that your answers are as silly as they come, and one can only hope that they come off as endearing as opposed to … stupid.
Other than that, it is business as usual here at the ranch. Just doing some last minute editing and getting everything together. I intend to send off the first ARC’s of The Heretic Priest either tomorrow night or Saturday to those who have already told me they are interested in participating. But it is NOT too late to volunteer and be entered in to win a free (signed!) copy of both The Heretic Priest and The Dragon’s Disciples!
Email me Sunday! Email me Monday! Email me on July 14th! As long as you get to me by August 1st and your review is posted on that date, then everyone will be happy!
Meanwhile, in addition to the editing, I have been working on some bookmarks to send out in the promotional packages that are ALSO part of the reward for volunteering to review an ARC. I wanted to post some progress here and you guys can let me know which ones you like the best. I’m quite proud of them, so far. More to follow. Also, if you have any suggestions for quotes to go on the back PLEASE post them in the comments! All of my favourite quotes come from Pharun. And he can’t be on everything.

Before I go, I will also leave you with this poll. It was sprung from the realization that The Heretic Priest is almost half the size of The Dragon’s Disciples and that intimidates me. But then, Dragon’s Disciples is roughly 141,521 some-odd words, while The Heretic Priest is up there in the 70,000′s. I know that it’s kind of pushing it when it comes to “novel” length, but with these last edits it might change. I haven’t checked the word count since I finished the first draft. My question is … when you read novels (any novel, really, but fantasy in particular) do you prefer longer ones, with fewer in a series, or do you prefer an abundant series of quick reads? Let me know, because I am curious! I’m so terrified of the reception my baby is going to receive.

Inner Turmoil for The Sequel
Hello my darlings,
Editing is boring, boring, boring. But I want to get in some final edits before I send the copies of Heretic Priest out to be reviewed this Friday/Saturday. Once I get that done, it is out of my hands and I figure it will be time to start writing on The Hollow Living.
Does anyone else get the Second Novel willies? Like … do your legs start shaking, and beads of sweat start appearing on your brow because you are afraid that the sequel won’t have as nice of a reception as the first one? Do you fear that failure, or am I the only one?

**Review** The Lost Heir by Andi O’Connor

My Rating: 3.5 Stars
“The Lost Heir” left me with very mixed feelings at the end. On one hand, it was a great overall idea. I really liked some of the characters (one was named Cyrus and I had a total surreal moment), and I could see it as a book that I would put on my permanent bookshelf (my real life one). On the other hand, I felt that a lot of it was underdeveloped. The entire thing could have been much more effective if it had just been edited a little better.
It wasn’t necessarily spelling or grammatical errors. O’Connor was in the clear with that, as far as I could tell. As an avid devourer of fantasy, I admit that I get nitpicky, so as with every review this should be taken with a grain of salt. I felt like the plot was fine, but the author switched between “fantasy” world and “real” world in a way that was totally jarring. One moment I was smoothly sailing in fantasy land and the next some guy was hitting his alarm clock. Huh?
There were some repetition errors, both in character actions and how they presented their information. (i.e. Darrak went to get a soda twice within the space of two paragraphs).
I had a problem with the way the fantasy language was presented. There were whole sentences of spells where some were translated, but not all. When I see a series of words that look too difficult to try to pronounce I just skip over them anyway, and I don’t think that was the author’s intent. Furthermore, I had no idea what meno was, exactly, aside from some kind of magic. When I first ran across the word I wished for a brief explanation.
Although by the end of the book, I was thoroughly sick of Ipzaag’s explanations of everything. Especially within the first 50 pages, he had way too much random knowledge readily at his fingertips and he was all too happy to explain it. I renamed him The Great Cryptic Explainer, because I got tired of hearing paragraph after paragraph of explanation (What is a dreamweaver? Why am I a dreamweaver all of the sudden even though I have had normal dreams up until this point?). He got on my nerves and I tried hard not to skim through entire paragraphs of information that I felt like the author could have found a better way to show, rather than tell.
There were a few more minor notes. Mostly just on pacing (it /was/ fast paced, but that did not serve to its benefit as the characters were introduced and then given sudden importance. It left me without much empathy for them and, as a result, I was more impatient with their nuances), the over-abundant use of the word “simply”, and just small nitpicky things like that.
Overall, it IS a good starter fantasy, I just wish there had been just a little bit more to it. I think that, with some more editing, it could be fantastic and I would definitely add it to my real-life keeper shelf then. In reality, I would give it a 3.5.

Heretic Priest Release Date Poll – plus **DRAWING** Luke Callindor [fanart]
Currently reading: The Lost Heir by Andi O’Connor
Hello my darlings!
Today is the last day I get to be lazy before it is back to life. I needed this weekend to relax, and now I can’t believe that there is only one month left until freshman year is over with and I am a sophomore. Time flies, man…
In the meantime, the editing for The Heretic Priest goes smoothly and I am going to take my time as much as possible to get everything in order, considering I have given myself until August 1st to get things right. I have been toying with the idea of releasing it early, and since Amazon is going to be my first choice when it comes to publishing I might just choose KDP select on my eBook and see if that helps it at all. Hopefully, the promotion of the sequel will generate further success for the first, etc.
So with that being said, a poll for my readers today…
Take Our Poll
And before I go, I wanted to share the drawing of the day. It is just a sketch of my vision of Luke Callindor from Charles E. Yallowitz’s book Beginning of a Hero. Hopefully it will put a smile on your face, sir!
I will talk to you darlings later.

The Heretic Priest is finally finished!!
Hello darlings,
The Heretic Priest is finally finished!! Holy Hera, it only took me two years!! The Hollow Living won’t take nearly that long, but let’s not put the cart before the horse. Heretic Priest can finally move into its editing stages now. The release date might come sooner than I had anticipated, but we will see for certain in the next few months. I am super excited and I can’t wait to start the plot outlines for The Hollow Living.
Time to go pop the champagne. Huzzah!!

**COVER** Heretic Priest
Hello darlings,
So as The Heretic Priest reaches its final stage of preparation, I have been working on the cover art, and I thought I would share my progress. I am so excited for this release, you have no idea!
Is anyone surprised that Pharaun’s hands are perfectly manicured? I sure as hell am not.
At any rate, I hope you are enjoying your Easter / Ostara / Passover weekend! I certainly am.
More later.
