The Power of Belief
People say : I’ll believe it when I see it. But the truth is we are more likely to see what we already believe in.
What we believe about the world shapes our experience of the world. You know that thing when you get a new car and suddenly you see cars of the same make and model everywhere? There aren’t more of them around than before but your brain has tuned into them so out of the thousands of cars you pass daily those jump out at your consciousness. This system works with every aspect of your life.
Without getting too far into the Metaphysical at this stage the simple explanation is that your subconscious is programmed to bring you experiences that are in line with your beliefs, and this keeps your Ego happy and feeling safe. Everything is in order. When you have an experience that is outside your beliefs your Ego feels uncomfortable. You may feel uncomfortable. On reflection you may decide that having your belief challenged was a good thing, or you may not.
So the outcome of this is that when a person believes that the world is a dangerous place then they see all sorts of evidence to support this belief. Of course all the bad things that happen at home and abroad are always all over the media, so having that belief confirmed is easy. Just read the newspapers! However if you believe that most people are essentially good and kind and the world is really a benign place despite the fact that bad things do happen then your personal experience will reflect that. You will meet kind, friendly people, other drivers will stop to let you out of a side road, someone will return to you the purse you dropped, your neigbours will be friendly, chat to you, feed your cat when you go away & keep an eye on your home.
The same applies to money. ‘The Recession’ has been all over the media for a couple of years now. The country is running into debt. There is no money for essential services, and of course all those foreigners are coming over here and taking our jobs, or worse, living on our benefits! The truth is that money is not finite, abundance and prosperity is available for everyone. Money is just a form of energy that goes around and around. It is our beliefs about money that determine how much we have.
Beliefs are a self-perpetuating cycle. As you believe so you experience and therefore strengthen your belief. So where do these beliefs come from? They usually come from what we are told and taught in childhood. Beliefs about money have been handed down from generation to generation. Our parents, grandparents, teachers all said things like:
Money doesn’t grow on trees.
You have to work hard and get a good job to get by.
No such thing as a free lunch.
People like us will never be rich.
We may be poor but we are honest / respectable etc.
“Filthy Rich”
Rich people get that way by grinding down / oppressing working people.
You wouldn’t want to live in a big house like that, think of all the work to keep it clean and maintained.
These phrases represent two things; the belief that ‘people like us’ do not get rich and the belief that there is something unpleasant about people who are rich.
Ask yourself, are these viewpoints actually true? Do people from poor backgrounds never become wealthy? Are all wealthy people crooks?
This leads on to something called a ‘Self Limiting Belief’. We all have them. Things we believe about ourselves, quite often deep down and unconsciously, that limit what we do. (One of mine was ‘ I know I love writing, and I’m good at writing, but I could never actually be a writer.’ Now I have published a book, The Frankincense Statuette, and people are loving it; and I am writing this Blog.)
So have a think. What are your self-limiting beliefs? What do you believe about money & abundance, about your health, about your relationships, about your abilities? Are those beliefs valid? Really?
Please write comments, I would like this to be a dialogue that will help. You can also post and comment on the Synergy Holistics Facebook page, link on the button to the right.
Then come back and see the next instalment.
Namaste.

Blogging
I am finding this process a little difficult. I have made a page for an article about Natural First Aid, but the page does not appear on the top line. I have tried to connect the blog with my Facebook pages, but the buttons are not appearing. No doubt I will get to grips with it all in due time.

RANDOM HORSE THOUGHTS
If you learn only methods, you’ll be tied to your methods – but if you learn principles you can devise your own methods”
Look at the way the BHS does things, look at Monty Roberts, Parelli, Jason Webb etc. Learn from them all and use what is necessary for the task / horse you are dealing with.Random Horse Thoughts
Got an issue with your horse? Is he bargy, won’t stand, won’t lead? Are you a little bit afraid of him, or nervous of riding? I offer a holistic approach to horsey problems which may be a therapy such as Reiki or using Essential Oils or may be helping the owner with confidence & training issues.
Don’t let your horse push you around. He does not really want to be ‘in charge’ but if he does not trust you enough he will feel he has to take charge. Basic groundwork exercises can help you become a leader he will happily follow.
If your horse ‘spooks’ when out riding maybe he doesn’t trust you enough to believe you can protect him from the ‘tigers in the trees’. He feels he needs to be the leader and takes charge by running away. Basic groundwork ‘games’ can improve your relationship so that he sees you as his leader and puts his trust in you when out and about.
Happy Hacker? Great! Do you realise you have to be a good, balanced, confident rider for both you and your horse to be happy hacking. And what better way to enjoy time with your horse than being out and about together.
What skills do you think you need to be safe and happy hacking?
Reiki Therapy is very relaxing and calming. It can be especially helpful if a horse needs to recover from trauma, ether physical or emotional, and although generally a ‘hands on’ therapy it can also be given from a distance. I can stand at the stable door and beam the energy to your horse and I can even send healing energy over a long distance if I have a picture to work with.
