Dragonslayer news!

With the different route to publication that I’m taking with the Dragonslayer trilogy, partnering up with Tor, there are plenty of new experiences for me along the way. One of those is getting the occasional mention in trade press. It’s my first time being mentioned in one of these, so I thought I’d share it. You can take a look:

In other news, I’m a lot more active on Goodreads these days, so if you want to follow along, please feel free to add me as a friend. You can find my profile here:

I’ve set up a group there also, which you can join to keep in the loop in the run up to Dragonslayer’s release on 2 July 2019. There’ll hopefully be giveaways, excerpts, and artwork reveals as we get closer to the big day, so that’ll be a good spot to keep up to date with those!

I’m really pleased with how it turned out, so I hope you like it to! The official cover reveal page can be found over on the Tor website, which you can take a look at here.

Society of the Sword nominated!

It’s definitely been too long since I last posted an update – apologies! My only excuse is that I’ve been incredibly busy working on the three Dragonslayer books with Tor. They’re still on schedule for publication next year!

The news of the day is that the Society of the Sword audiobook has been nominated for a SOVAS award in the Best Voice Artist category, for Derek Perkins. I think he did an incredible job in narrating it. Win or lose, I think Derek brought a huge amount to the audio production, and the nomination is the least amount of recognition he deserves.

The awards are on 18 November, so I wish him the best of luck, and am sorry I won’t be able to make it to the ceremony myself!

I hope everyone’s well, and looking forward to the summer! (if you’re in the northern hemisphere… otherwise, I hope you had a nice summer!)

Some writerly thoughts on writerly things…

A fellow fantasy writer, Phil Tucker of The Chronicles of the Black Gate series, has posted some thoughts for aspiring writers. They’re well worth a read, so I thought I’d link it here. If you’re thoughts ever turn to giving this writing lark a go, particularly the self publishing route, then this is a very good place to start:

Nothing much to report at my end at the moment – working away on various projects, all of which are, of course, top secret! I hope everyone is well, and enjoying spring!

Some news…

Hey everyone, I hope the new year is going well for you!

Things have been pretty busy over here since Christmas, and there’s some news to announce in that regard.

I’ve just agreed to a 3 book deal with Tor. The first book in that trilogy, Dragonslayer, will be out early next year. Those of you who are current with my work will have seen a hint of dragons (indeed, a couple of people have mailed asking about that!). They’ll be appearing centre stage in this trilogy, with some new heroes to meet and locations to explore in my Middle Sea world. I’m really pleased with how the story has developed, and I hope those of you who’ve enjoyed my work to date will think it’s my best yet!

It’s a pretty exciting time, and there’s lots of work to be done, but I’ll do my best to keep my updates as regular as I can. Thanks again for all your interest and support!

Wolf of the North 3 out now in audio!

I’m delighted to announce that The Blood Debt – Wolf of the North Book 3, is now available in audio. You can get your copy at:

Audible US

Audible UK

It’s also available via the regular Amazon product page. Once again, it’s narrated by the excellent Simon Vance, who has wrapped up the trilogy with another superb performance! I’m really pleased with how the audio version of the series has turned out, and I hope you all really enjoy this final part!

Happy New Year

Hey folks,

I wanted to wish everyone a happy New Year (belatedly!) and I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Thanks again for all your kind words and support last year. It’s very much appreciated! After a pretty hectic year getting Wolf of the North all finished up and on the virtual shelves, I’m really looking forward to a new year and a new project, details of which I’ll be able to share in the next couple of weeks. It’s always great fun starting with a blank canvas, so this stage is probably my favourite part of the process—that short window of time before you’ve painted yourself into a corner!

Wolf of the North 3 Out Today!

As the title says, the day is finally here – Wolf of the North 3, The Blood Debt – is out today.

You can get it at the following links:

Amazon.com

Amazon.co.uk

This marks the end of the Wolf of the North trilogy, which has been a pretty incredible experience for me to say the least. The support that readers have given me over the past year has been both overwhelming and humbling, and I appreciate that more than I can ever say. I only hope that I’m able to continue producing books that you enjoy reading, but rest assured I’ll be doing my very best!

Wolf of the North Audio Nominated for a SOVA Award

It’s always a bit of a surprise to wake up to the news that something you’re involved in has made a list or is nominated for an award, but it’s always a nice one. In this instance, I can’t say I’m quite as surprised as usual, as Simon Vance did such a superb job narrating The Wolf of the North, for him to be nominated for Audiobook Narration – Fantasy, Best Voiceover for this book is very well deserved. Fingers crossed that he can take home the top spot!

You can see the full list of nominations here: http://sovas.org/2017-nominees/
